Who would win in a war? Canada VS Russia

It was in Canadian territory......1812 was fought by Canadians. Some of the British Empire was located in Europe I believe..Would that make the British Empire European/Asian? Everyone knows it was fought by America and Canada.Vilot_Hero

All the major commanders were BRITISH or from the United States, except for Gordon Drummond. It was British troops which burnt the White House.

The British forces were about 50 000 in numbers by the end of the war, provincial troops (ie, Canadians) only made up around 10 000 troops.

The navy was almost completely British too.

How you think this war was fought by Canadians, and not the British, and how you think something which happened 200 years ago qualifies Canada to beat the world's second greatest military power is beyond me.

I'm also going by what I was taught in school, which wasn't an American or Canadian school, so you can't play the cultural bias card or the 'American-education-sucks' card.

You're making me facepalm over here. 1812 was fought by British troops stationed in modern-day Canada. The "Canadians" you're referring to were British subjects, loyal to the British Crown. And are you not aware of the extent of the British Empire at that point and the extent they reached in the 19th century?

No, we were taught it was a stalemate. You really can't claim it was a victory by the Canadians either, the British did most of the work.

Canada fought in 1812, Cold War, Korean War, WW1, WW2(fought on the beaches like the Americans did), Gulf War, Afghanistan and I'm missing plenty of others, but Canada has a stong military backround.Vilot_Hero

It's in no way comparable to that of the Russians though. The Russians basically know war better than they know peace. Look at their entire history.

They fought Napoleon in both Central Europe and on their own soil and won.

They pacified revolutions in Eastern Europe during the 1848 revolutions.

They fought the French and the British in the Crimean War.

They fought the Turks in the 1870s.

They fought the Japanese in 1905.

They fought in WW1 for 3 years.

They then fought an extremely bloody civil war, in which Western powers intervened their soil.

They fought an undeclared civil war against their peasants and rebel factions, culminating in dekulakisation and the Great Terror.

They fought Germany in WW2, again beating a power which invaded them and did incredibly damage. This event was all that stopped them fighting each other.

They fought in China during WW2, defeating the Japanese forces and Chiang Kai-Shek's Nationalists.

They built their military to insane heights to match the United States during the Cold War, occupying most of Eastern Europe, including Germany.

They several times nearly went to war with China once the two fell out.

They invaded Afghanistan in 1979.

They invaded Georgia this year.

It was 200 years, and it was with the world's biggest superpower, Britain, on their side before America had industrialised.

Please, for the sake of everybody's sanity, read up a bit more on history before you try debating it.

The wore them out, but it wasn't a defeat along the lines of Afghanis marching through downtown Moscow, and supping on Shish Kebabs in the Kremlin. The US "lost" Vietnam, but no one truly believes that the Viet Cong defeated America in the traditional sense of the word.
