Because fighting is for primitive screwheads. The only time fighting is justified is in protection of yourself or for someone in danger.TM_Darkside
i agree with that
If you like to fight, that's cool. Just keep it in leagues and ****, and don't use it as a solution just cause you can.
I'm not against fighting, but I'm against fighting for the sake of resolving issues, cause it's absolutely nonsensical.
I like the way Isaac Asimov (sp?) put it. "Violence is the refuge of the incompetent".
[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]Can you list some of the positives of getting punched in the face, please?cryptosopoidium
If your the one punching it can relive anger. If your not well, there is no positive.
Of course there are positives. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Respect. Confidence. Feels good to let loose every now and then.
[QUOTE="Jandurin"]I've never been in a fight. Too easy to confuse aggressive idiots. Which is irritating, as I think I'd be rather good in a scrap.drewtwo99

Get a punchbag.
If don't see why you need to fight other people for no reason to gain some form of self-confidence and self-respect for yourself.

youll find that a lot of kids here are very anti-competitive in almost every way (except video games obviously)
i think it has to do with the fact that theres a lot of nerds here. alot arent however

If you're so insecure as to think that your personal integrity is jeopardised when another person "disrespects" you.
Machoism is such a load of BS, especially when it's so petty.

Nothing is ever really proven by fighting. Besides, there's no such thing as "a good scrape" these days because the majority of people who start fights are a bunch of ******s who can't fight one-on-one without having some of their friends jumping in.elblanquito_81agree, also the fact that the loosing part tends to draw forth a weapon the moment they start loosing. the wrong thing these days is that the winner gains "street cred" just by winning, not the way he wins. change that, and you would prolly lower the cases of blind violence.

Since when does not fighting them equate to letting them get away with it? There's more than one way to let a person know you're not to be trifled with.
[QUOTE="Overrated_Hero"]Agreed I mean how much can you possibly know about yourself if you've never been in a fight? :obellsmye1Everything apart from how well you can fight. You know, the stuff that matters. I know that it was just a quote from Fight Club. :x
Fights are only good in terms of self defense.
With that said, here are some reasons I dont like fighting:
1. My opponent can end up in the hospital or even die. So could I.
2. The cops could get called. Last time I checked I think fighting is a pretty heft misdemeanor or even a felony.
3. Girls find it unnattractive when guys fight.
4. I dont really ever have a reason to fight; I am 6'3'' and a large guy, and as a result people are biased against me since every time I have been in a fight, people always give me that mean glare because I am very big, and the people that pick fights tend to be very little (methinx they compensate for something by fighting).

Ha! Need to get out more? Because some of us arent hair brained bufoons who think "its good to fight now and again?". People who have the mental capacity to keep cool in a volatile situation get my utmost respect. Mental strength is far more powerful than physical strength in my opinion, and a much harder thing to maintain. I hate these ham fisted fools who "like" fighting. Dolts.People who are scared to fight I'm willing to bet 85% of them get walked all over in anything they do. Knowing that you won't take too much crap really gives you more confidence in anything you do.The_Mac_DaddyJust because you don't fight doesn't mean you're scared of fighting.

Or you can choose not to participate in a perpetual macho-dickswinging competition. So much for "thinking for yourself" and "non-conformity".
I seriously doubt either you or mac_daddy live lives in which beating up other people and a hard reputation is necessary for survival.

The_Mac_Daddy
You said "when someone disrespects you".
That's generally done with an exchange of words. If they attack you physically, of course you retaliate likewise. But there's rarely a good excuse for throwing the first punch.
And no, I've never wanted to fight anybody. I've had to, but I've never wanted to.

are you going to scream at them in a mean voice? are you going to tell someone?
if you do either, you're a whimp in most peoples opinion. people have to know not to mess with you otherwise theres consequences. but whatever man, if you want to go through life with the possibility of some **** getting away with whatever he wants then thats okay
but being afraid of fighting dosent exactly make you a pacifist. a pacifist isnt afraid of getting hurt. pacifists arent cowards.

So your suggesting more people get into fights to boost their confidence?
I think a fight is the last thing to boost confidence. Just a compliment or a hug is enough IMO. You don't need to punch someone in the face aswell.
Scrapes are good to get into now and again. The_Mac_Daddy
Fighting is the last resort of a mind unable to contemplate a more productive means of expression.
There is no good reason to get into a fight unless you are defending yourself from someone and you have no option to get out of the situation, like walking away.
Why? Because the whole point of fighting is to hurt another person, and if you are good at it, they easily end up dead. There is no excuse for risking that with a justification of, 'scrapes are good to get into now and again.'
