Why can't good music be mainstream?

Yeah her concerts are great, I plan on buying the "My World" dvd sometime.

She was especially good when she was younger live, but I was watching some of her "AOL Sessions" A few days ago, and they are awesome.

That's the only mainstream artist I can honestly say I'm proud to listen to.

kanye is proof that mainstream music can be good, it's just a lot more rare these days.

Good mainstream music is still there... "Mr Brightside" was the most requested song of the decade. The Strokes caused the biggest label bidding war ever. The Vaccines are blowing up right now, which is a great thing.Whenever there is a band in the charts, music is at its best. People still want it. We just get too caught up on Lady gaga and Keisha to notice how many times we request The Killers on the radio.

Come on now, are we gonna deny that bands like Muse are mainstream? They're as mainstream as it gets. Just because they don't have a summer hit that gets played 7 times a day on the lamest radio stations doesn't mean that pretty much anyone who's up to date with modern music has at least heard of them. Hell, even my friends talk about bands like that from time to time and they are in no way 'underground' with their music tastes.

Good music can be mainstream and it is. All of the people that say that are just being melodramatic and need to quit thinking that only bands that are artsy and aren't on the radio is the only thing worth listening to. There are plenty of groups out there that are worth listening to that also happen to have songs on the radio. I think that not listening to mainstream music because you're above that is just limiting the greatness of what's out there for yourself.
