The day after the Shuttle Challenger blew up we were telling jokes in school. Not sure why, it is pretty disrespectful but it is what it is.

I tend to not laugh anytime I hear one.. Sure its been a decade since it happened, but just the thought of seeing the WTC hit that day still lingers
Granted it has been over 10 years, but lately I have been subject to several jokes and I can't help but be offended. Everything from wow must have been Stevie Wonder steering the plane to dropping like its hot faster than jumpers out the windows of the world trade. Does anyone else think this type of humor is insensitive or is it time america gets over it and uses laughter as part of the heeling process?

I think you need to grow the **** up and learn how to humor.
People think that watching rl footage of peoples heads being cut off is funny or that rape is funny. So is it really a suprise that people would find terrorist attacks funny? As for why, I don't know what the why would be maybe it's just what gives them their kicks or whatever.

Ahahahhaaa, your a funny guy there brah.
I agree with him actually, it's been near eleven years, time to get the hell over it.
Well do you think it's appropriate to run around making jokes about people jumping out of buildings or something? It's fine to say, "lets stop talking about it" but it's not alright to go around justifying making jokes about it.

I'm sorry to sound like George Bush here, but if people are still so hung up on this then the terrorists won, brah.

I'm not denying it's rather tasteless humor, but I still find it funny.

That all depends on how you view death.theres really nothing funny about 9/11, or any tragic event like that, people burned alive, people jumped out of buildings, kids had to grow up without their moms and dads. Freedom of speech is alive and well and you can say anything you want but (and excuse my french )your a b*tch if you joke about something like that. I would like to see you go through what the families of people who where in those buildings and planes had to go through or better yet i would like to see you in those buildings on the top floors with no way to get out and see if you find it funny.

Let it be known that I was 7 when 9/11 happened, and my mother happened to be on a buisness trip in new york, I think you see where this is going. Yet I still lol at 9/11 jokes if they're funny, perhaps that makes me a bad person. But just throwing this down there.

no i haven't, i don't laugh or make fun of people less fortunate then me, I can end up in that situation very very quickly. I'm not saying i'm a saint but events where people lose their lives, i don't find funny no matter what the context is.theres really nothing funny about 9/11, or any tragic event like that, people burned alive, people jumped out of buildings, kids had to grow up without their moms and dads. let it be known, i don't know anyone who lives in New York, I don't know anyone who lost their lives that die, the event technically didn't affect my daily life, but guess what, i have sympathy for people who lost their lives, people who didn't do anything to deserve what they got. I just don't find that sh*t funny. You may, and like i said you have freedom of speech and you can say or laugh at whatever you want,.[QUOTE="infinite884"]

The reason people care more about 9/11 than various atrocities in the Middle East/Africa is because people can relate to 9/11 more. With 9/11, many Americans thought "Holy f*ck, that could have been me or somebody I love".
You'd be hard-pressed to find a recent attack on a western country that was even close to as deadly as 9/11 was.

If I spend my life worrying about the deaths of people I don't know and who live on the other side of the world I would go insane. If someone dies in the middle east, I'm not going to care because fretting over it is stupid and useless when I live so far away. Now say if a person got murdered in my neighborhood, I have much more reason to be fearful as it is much closer and there is a much bigger chance it could also happen to me. Yeah, all deaths are equally as bad, but it is stupid to say you should relate to all deaths equally.theres really nothing funny about 9/11infinite884Says who? Humour is in the mind of the beholder. The funniness of any tragic event is entirely subjective.

For example, clearly in an objective sense there's nothing more tragic about the death of a friend or relative, but almost everyone will be much more affected by it, simply because it's an evolutionary advantage to work that way. You're really expecting things from humans of which they're just not capable. Please Log In to post.
