It's all around us, people going to extreme measures to just save their life and for what? What is so great about this world that makes people want to fight to live so badly? We all know that we are gonna die eventually, so whats the point?

It's ok nothing special, there is plenty of other places you can go that's just as good if not better.
Because nobody likes uncertainty and the unknown. I don't care if you are the most religious person in the world, everyone is scared and has their doubts of what may happen after you die. It is better to do something you already know (live) that take a giant leap into the unknown.SF_KiLLaMaNWhat this guy said. and i am - well by comparison - A LOT more religious then a lot of people on this forum. At the risk of turning this thread into an afterlife debate #3 (in the past two days). People are scared of the unknown and what lies beyond moment of -actual- death. If there is a chance to extend your life, people take it.

Why try to extend your life only for it to be taken anyways?

It is human instinct to survive. Don't believe me..why have you not killed yourself already? That's why.

Everybody has their own reason to want to live. My reason to live is to take care of my family and not have them grieving because I'm gone. Another person my want to live because there are some things they haven't done in their life yet that they want to do before they pass. Others are flat out scared of what will happen after you die, whether you are going to Heaven or Hell, getting reincarnated, or just going into an unconscious state for eternity.
When people start talking the way you're talking that tells me I need to take notice and wonder what's going on in their life. I would recommend that you talk to somebody you care about with your concerns rather than start a thread on OT about it. Maybe that's what you need to see that life is worth it to most people. Or better yet, how your family would feel if you was no longer here.
Because there's a lot of cool stuff to do. If I die, I can't watch anime, play video games, kiss, go for walks, shop for clothes or listen to music anymore.
The alternative (death and...nothing) sounds cool, but I'll get there eventually. No need to rush it.
This reminds me of the "what's the point of marrying someone attractive when they're just going to get old?" thread from a few days ago.
It is human instinct to survive. Don't believe me..why have you not killed yourself already? That's why.

Because I would rather death come to me instead of me taking my own life. There is a big difference between the two
Pretty much. :PWhy do I get this feeling like this is a troll thread? No matter how riveting or wise our posts are, TC is just gonna respond with "Why live, if you're just gonna die" kind of responses... :P

Case in point. Anyway, if you look at it that way, "We're all going to die sometime," you might as well just off yourself now. And no, that's not a suggestion. Just a saying.Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Stop looking at all the negative things in live and focus on the positive things. Hell, it doesn't even have to BIG things. Just the small things will work. [QUOTE="metroidfood"]Case in point. You cannot tell me this world is everything you ever wanted and everything is so awesome that you just can't leave. Of course people have loved ones that they do not want to let go of and that is probally the main reason why people are scared of death. Not to mention the unknown which is really nothing unknown depending on your personal beliefs.

Believing something to be and the reality of it are two different things. People may believe there is an afterlife for instance, but that doesn't mean that they know for certain that it exists. Also, some people belive there is nothing after death, that your life ends and you cease to exist in all capacities. For some, they believe this is their only shot, their only window of existence. I think that is a pretty good reason to cling onto life.

And why can't they tell you that? The world could be everything someone ever wanted.
And no matter what one's beliefs are, the afterlife is unknown; your belief is a guess.
One word: Hope.Elann2008
Just one word doesn't really explain anything. Hope for what? A better future for the next generation? Hope that people will stop being violent psychotic killers? Or what?
I understand the state your in. And I can tell you for a fact that it is because of sin in this world, we do... we do live in a broken world. Because of sin, and sin came in because we let it. This is why everything seems to go wrong, this is why you seem to see the negative and no positive. We as humans are not living in our NATURAL state we are living in a world of sin. It's all around us, people going to extreme measures to just save their life and for what? whitetiger3521
So because it's going to happen, one should be eager to make it happen ASAP? I don't follow that reasoning; clearly, you don't either, since you seem to be still alive, so I can only assume that you are having a little fun with your post here. It's all around us, people going to extreme measures to just save their life and for what? It's okay i just tend to rage occasionally. Nothing personalThe only reason everyone tries so hard to stay alive is because they want to know how "A Song Of Ice And Fire" ends.
Because something is greater than nothing. Honestly if you prefer nothing then you're a pretty bland, unexciting person.
And this world is great. I'm not one of those whiny people who want everything to cater to them. I didn't ask for it to be the way it is, but I didn't create it, and the alternative isn't exactly riveting so I'll gladly accept it.

Just because you went a little emo on how you view life does not mean others do not like the world. Some peopl enjoy their lives and ike the world. Sure, most people don't think the world could be everything someone everwanted ,but many live on despite knowing the world is not perfect.

You look death directly in the face and are told you'll be dead very soon, and for some reason I suspect your apathy and indifference would rapidly disappear pronto.
