[QUOTE="xhellcatx"]Why do most of these threads always end up starting to borderline sexism? Im honestly starting to tire from it.xhellcatx

Then stop reading them if they begin to tire you.

Actually, its kind of against ToU to post offensive things, and sexism .. well its offensive. Thats why its called sexism, and people who use sexism are called sexist. Its frustrating. And instead of reporting people for using sexist posting, I just comment in the hopes people will see the ways of their errors. ;)

There's a lot of sexism because there's a lot of guys on the forums with male angst. Plus it's the internet, so yeah.

They want a challenge. They want to turn a cold, emotionless killing machine in to a sensitive, sobbing mess. They are looking for an ego trip from transforming you from a man in to an image of their own making. They want to turn you in to a robot and own you.psychobrew

Probably something along the lines of, they've been hurt by men before who lied to them because they wanted something other than a relationship, and then when they got what they wanted, they stopped talking to/seeing them. It's unfortunate that those type of guys exist, and they give the rest of you sweet, emotional ones a bad name. :(

Edit: As for women who want their men to be emotionless "killing machines"...well. There's something wrong right there. :| I don't find anything wrong with a guy crying when he's sad. Or a guy liking something that's typically feminine. We're all people..gender roles ftl.

socked_feet

You have Spock in your avatar. You should be a huge fan of emotionless men.

It does seem that you'll be accused of being a wimp if you express your feelings, and accused of being callous if you don't. It may or may not be from the same people, but whether or not they are, the people making each accusation are feeding the same damned-if-you-do-loop...

Ah, a good question!

It's actually very simple, guys - it's true that some men are heartless douche-bags, just like some women are.

Thing is, since those people have no feelings, they have only their animalistic instincts to guide them, and those tell them "fertilize as many females as possible".

Or in other words, date a lot of women (sometimes, at once!).

And thus we get a small portion of the male population receiving an unproportionally large amount of booty, which leaves their dates under the impression that all the guys they mate (date) are jerks, while in actuality, they keep dating one and the same group of males, without ever noticing it!

It's elementry, Watson!

... seriously? Come on, we all have feelings, including those whose morality in terms of sex is apparently lower than ours. Seeing as how feelings are the results of electrochemical signals in the brain, do you have any real reason to suspect that "douchebags" have brains whose signals don't produce feelings?

I thought the "it's the internet so yeah" thing was referring to the nature of Internet culture, not necessarily to claims about the prescence of women on the Internet. Also, I don't think the assumption is so much that women are "computer generated personalities" as that they're lying about their gender. And let's face it, a lot of people on the Internet do lie about their gender; it's the same medium where middle-aged pedophiles pretend to be girls so as to lure teenage boys so as to sexually abuse them. This doesn't necessarily mean that someone claiming to be female on the Internet is lying, but claiming to be a girl on the Internet doesn't really prove it. Anyway, offensiveness is subjective, and I don't think it's so much against ToU to post "offensive things" so much as to post contentless ad hominem attacks (as in, insulting the person as opposed to refuting their idea) whereas sexism is more of an idea, and not an entirely unreasonable one at that. Some gender differences may sound "sexist" to point out but that doesn't necessarily make them untrue. It really depends on what kind of "sexism" you're referring to, any why.

I don't get women, first they want us to have emotions, then at other times they want us to be the cold emotionless killing machines depraved of any kind of emotion but anger and being a douche. I know not all women feel this way, but I'm not emotionless, I like rainbows, and stuff like robot unicorns(I don't like real unicorns though. But it's like, man, I don't like sports but I don't like barbies either, I just want to be free to play my video games, watch movies, be lazy all day after work, make money, and make love to my woman. But they think we don't have emotions, we can like romantic comedies too, but still want to go watch a action flick, we're emotionally diverse, but we have to hold it in because thats what we have to do and are expected to do. I mean, I'm not gay but I would like to express my emotions to women sometimes without being considered gay I mean, if I don't get to, I just might punch a hole through a wall and have to find me a secret hiding place where no one came see me cry.

I'M A MAN AND I HAVE EMOTIONS TOO! :(

DazedDarkness

Maybe you should improve your taste in women so you don't have to deal with anyone who expects things from you that you don't agree with. You know, instead of putting all the blame on the few unreasonable women who insist upon a guy being super manly all the time. Maybe those women had selective bad experiences that led them to unfairly generalize about guys, but it sounds like you're doing basically the same thing.

[QUOTE="pete_merlin"]

Women label men as players yet girls sleep around way more than guys.

acsam12304

i know right

Last time I checked, every time a girl "slept around" she was doing so with a guy. So just as many guys are getting it. And no offense to Acsam but didn't you post a thread not too long ago complaining about your cheating woman troubles or something? Perhaps you're just a bit bitter and that's why you think it's okay to claim that girls sleep around more than guys, cuz you've been hurt. Again- they aren't sleeping with themselves, ya know.

Not necessarily. The subjectline specifically says "some women" so as to make clear he's not referring to all women.

Not necessarily. The subjectline specifically says "some women" so as to make clear he's not referring to all women.

I know he said some, but he doesn't say a lot of things. He knows it's only some women but it still bothers him enough that he made a thread about it. So either we assume his personal experiences are with multiple women who feel the way he described, or this is just a subject he feels strongly about. Possibly both. In either case he can help himself avoid that stuff by avoiding those kinds of women.

I definitely don't know, if I could figure stuff like that out just by looking at someone I'd be rich!, but people sometimes make a pattern in the type (don't know if that's the right word) of person they date. If you keep dating people who all have the one same exact quality you don't like, something's up with how you're picking your dates.

Actually ad hominems are covered under a different area of ToU, its separate from offensive material. Like you cant go posting porn, or saying something raciest, or sexist, or ageist. Its wrong to do so and offensive. Why view one thing as more wrong then the other when they are all equally wrong? Cant there be conversation that excludes these biased remarks? ... of course not tho, huh, cause apparently no one knows how to respect anyone.

Or girls just like bad boys in general, which I find it oddly accurate.

TC better stop dating altogether then. Don't even bother anymore.
I know there's a little truth in every generalization made no matter who it's about, but at some point you have to stop blaming everyone else for the situations you repeatedly find yourself in.

Same here. I have never once uttered those words, or heard another female speak them. Men assume women say this. Most of my girlfriends say they want a more sensitive guy. "tough guys" are hard to really have fun around. most my friends and I agree with that remark.

Same here. I have never once uttered those words, or heard another female speak them. Men assume women say this. Most of my girlfriends say they want a more sensitive guy. "tough guys" are hard to really have fun around. most my friends and I agree with that remark.

I've heard tons of girls say this. Name an ex of my brother's. So yeah it happens and is not totally fabricated.

Neither of us said it was totally fabricated.

Sure didn't. I pointed out that I've never said it or heard it to show that it might not be as common as some tend to think. That was my point. Don't hurt yourself jumping to conclusions.

And dont hurt yourself claiming that just because something isnt common to YOU then its not as common "as some tend to think". Everyone has different experiences/views. Its best we both acknowledge that.

I remember overhearing a girl in high school saying she, "want[ed] a guy with teeth" (metaphorically speaking of course) to which her group of friends chuckled.

Even my mom also told me that women want an assertive "tough" man, implying that I was lacking that.

On the flip side, I have heard some pretty similar things from guys about women.

Here's the thing - you can only pretend to be someone you are not for so long. You cannot live a healthy life trying to please others, whether you're trying to conform to a look or a lifestyle or whatever. You need to be comfortable in your own skin. When you accept who you are and how you are, you will eventually find yourself surrounded by people that appreciate you for you.

The problem with these types of conversations, I think, is that initially they are made for people to vent, but then they become a little too defensive. It may be because of insecurities or the sting of past experiences, but we should just move on. Whatever happened in the past, stays in the past. If you do not like something about yourself, you can always do something about it; just make sure you stay true to yourself in the process.
