Okay guys first of all I am American and absolutely love this country. I notice that most other countrys hate America and I get that. What I dont get is why do Americans hate America so much? I mean do people fell cool hating the gov't like everyone feels cool hating Halo 3? I just dont get it were free and spoiled yet we hate America. I bet if one of us moved to a ountry like Iraq/Iran we would be begging to be back in America. So why so much hate?

Because people don't know how good they have it, and they don't understand what went into making this country what it is.

I live in the US and don't understand why anyone who hates their country would live there. I predict 100+ posts.

Joking?

No one hates a country because they are free. People in Europe dont wake up and say "I thinl il hate America today becuase there so darn free". Terrorists dont decide to attack us to destroy our freedoms. That doesnt make sense.

Actually I love this land of America but I hate this government because they lie and pull tricks on us why do you think they want us to believe its a free country? So we dont question them if you do some deep reading then you would find out that we have been lied to example, in the court system the constitution is one of the most important things yet as citizens (who btw the constitution is for) its not valid for us to use it in court now does that sound right?

No I think he means that there jealous. Its not fair that I can sit here and say America sucks if I want and not get into trouble where they get killed for saying there country sucks. They may think we are a spoied country and hate us out of spite. Its a very easy thing to hate people that have it better than you. Like people who hate rich people because they think there spoiled.

Because I constantly hear americans claiming their country to "The Best country in the world!" that and "if we wanted to we could blow your country apart". A great deal of also believe the world revolves around America.

I love America. Period. We've got our own share of problems, but our worst days are still ten times better than the best day in some other countries.

I question authority because I have the freedom to do it. And I don't always agree with the policies of the governing body. But I would never EVER say that I hate my country or my government.

I think that using the word "hate" towards the U.S. is something of an overstatement, but as a whole, many Americans get overly defensive when their nation is criticized. I am happy to be an American. But that doesn't mean I can't question our status as a nation when I see a birth mortality rate double that of the rest of the first world. I don't like the fact that our poverty rate is double France's, despite an unemployment rate half their's. I don't like our current healthcare system that excludes 60 million Americans, despite a per capita cost well beyond other nations, with results lesser than those same first world nations.

The list goes far deeper, but that shouldn't question my patriotism. It should question whether we are the greatest nation on and whether this is the best we can do.

It is the governments fault they are not puting out an effort to help the poor all they do is put out this illusion of our nice economy and how good things are over here they even supress it from the people in this country. But the problem is why do we wait for the governments help?

Its not that easy alot of people say that but in the ghetto we have one thing stacked on top of another they make things more expensive for us. For jobs that pay well enough we have to go out in the burbs and get discriminated against by Employers plus we don't want to make the trek out there because of cops harrassing us and the jobs within the ghettos don't even pay enough to feed a family.

Well if you have a decent suite that you can get from anywhere for pretty cheap. How can they tell you live in the ghetto.

Most of the time they don't know, Its a natural discrimination for most employers.

What is there aura? Alot of discriminatory people get so use to picking out the people they hate that they notice the ones who give off an aura. (I know that sounds weird but think outside the box a lil bit)

Coming from England, I can say the Britain is probably as free as America, but there seems to be a perception that Americans are ignorant, arrogant and rarely able to see the owrld outside of their own shores (I would try and find the video of the interviewer asking random people in the street where Paris was... but I can't be bothered! :)).

I can remember a few years ago (probably about 17 years ago now) going to watch the London Monarchs play in the World League of American Football (which eventually became NFL Europe) - there was highight show on the week after the matches and the commentators who were discussing the Monarch's match (possibly against New york/New Jersey Knights or the team from Birmingham AL) made acomment about the English crowd booing, saying something like 'Listen to this crowd, I thought they didn't boo over here! They must have got it from Americans!'. Now that, to me, macks of ignorance and is one of the things that has slightly coloured my view af Americans. I know you're not all bad but it's the same old story that a monority ruins the image for the majority.

Not to be rude, but your ghettos are nothing compared to a third-world country ghetto. I know for a fact, I live in a third world country. I am currently living here in the US. I have worked in your ghettos installing Direct TV satellites. Neither is good, but you should see a little outside your own country to see there are definitely things worst than you ghettos. And there are things ten times worst then the ghettos in my country. All you need to do is open a page of magazine currently showing Sierra Leon or Haiti.

If you cared to read my post completely, you would see that I said neither is good. There is nothing good about people living in deplorable situations. And please, do not even get me started on "have you ever seen", because you would never see the end of the things I have seen in my country since childhood.

LoL I saw that video and it has to be fake they ask some stupid questions and the people get them wrong. If you people in England really believe that, that video was true then it really shows something about you.

I know you're not all bad but it's the same old story that a minority ruins the image for the majority.

So, you people in the U.K. are spoon-fed opinions about America by your far-left media? Wonderful...explains a lot.

I know what you went through was probably traumatic. But seeing friends and lil kids getting killed by gunfire is no happy site seeing gangs and drug dealers is something that is a big thing to fight from becoming man.

Coming from England, I can say the Britain is probably as free as America, but there seems to be a perception that Americans are ignorant, arrogant and rarely able to see the owrld outside of their own shores (I would try and find the video of the interviewer asking random people in the street where Paris was... but I can't be bothered! :)).

LoL I saw that video and it has to be fake they ask some stupid questions and the people get them wrong. If you people in England really believe that, that video was true then it really shows something about you.

I think it's fake as well, but there seems to be more circumstantial evidence for it too - take the Atlanta Olympics - During the gymnastics (and possibly other events) I can remember when American gymnasts/athletes won, the crowd went wild, as they say, but when someone from another nation won, they were virtually silent, other than the few representatives of the winners nation in the crowd. This is in stark contrast to Olympics held in other countries where the home corwd applauded the winners no matter where they came from. Not quite the same thing I know, but it gives the impression that Americans either don't care about what happpens elsewhere in the world or have no clue about the outside world.

Or because when im at a basketball game and the other team wins I dont cheer for them. If it is a big upset for a fan then there not going to cheer. It has nothing to do with the outside world. If the giants lost this year I wouldent have cheered for the pats and thats because the team I wanted to win lost.

No, I didn't go through anything traumatic. I was sheltered by my family most of my life, but I have seen my share of poberty, misery and death. All first hand.

What I was trying to say is that you shouldn't say things like the ones you said in your post about us foreigners just seeing the nice parts of the US and not having seen anything like your ghettos. Saying comments like that only make you seem blind to the rest of what the world is going through.

The Olympics are a different beast though, it's not just about the winning (cliche alert) but the taking part is the most important - you ask any athlete from a country that isn't known for winning anything and they wouldn't care if they came in last place, it's the experience. it's normally the same with the crowds as well. As I stated, in my experience, it was only the Atalanta games that I saw this happen in (and I'm 32 so have seen a few games), so I think it says more about the nation hosting it than it does about the games themselves.
