[QUOTE="AndrewSuh"]One day you will gain some maturity and not let other people's music taste affect you so much.airg6It bothers me because they dont appreciate real music and are missing out.
Sorry, but it's totally the contrary, metal is more and more mainstream to a frightening point. I was going to the library and a kid of 13 years old told me that my Behemoth shirt was awesome...
And you know what, when I have gone to see them, the age average was about 14 years old... I'm 24 damn it!
These kids don't care about music they only care about the strong image which I CAN'T TAKE!
I love metal and I play METAL BECAUSE IT'S A PASSION!
I like Killswitch Engage, Blind Guardian, Helloween, and Atreyu. Is Atreyu even metal? :S And I dont even know what Thrash or Black metal are :S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:Shelium_flash
Not knowing black I understand..it's sort of obscure. But thrash?! If you want to listen to some real good metal, I'd suggest Master of Puppets by Metallica or The New Order by Testament.
IF they care about music enough they will eventually grow out of Fall Out Boy and other such bands. They're taste just isn't there yet.Nifty_SharkWow that wasn't an elitist comment . FYI, more people like FOB and MCR than probably all your metal groups.

Real music can only be defined by the listener.
I wouldnt really call it a passion for me. But I do like metal, and most metal bands have easy bass lines so thats nice too :PSorry, but it's totally the contrary, metal is more and more mainstream to a frightening point. Yeah, and defined by me, metal is real music. Most people dislike it because it's too much for them.

No I actually like the instrumentals in metal quite a bit, I just hate the lack of variety in the lyrics and the lack of depth in the genre as a whole.

Definetily listen to master of puppets and try listening to some megadeth or angel of death by slayer.Easy. Mainstream music, whether good or bad, can be characterized as catchy melodies that are easy to dance to. Metal does not fall into either of those categories.Orlando_MagicMainstream wins there...kind of hard to dance to a song called "Cowboys from Hell".

really? Around here, at the Neuraxis show I was the youngest person, I'm 16.
But, as soon as hardcore's involved somehow, like metalcore and such, 50000000 15 year old scene kids. At least they cry in the mosh pit..

Metal has more rhythm present in it than most rap/hip-hop, pop, and mainstream rock could ever wish to have. And it's more complex rhythm. You could dance to it, it just wouldn't be your typical poser "look at me I'm cool" dancing. Metal is loaded with much more passion and emotion as well, and when it seeps into you, you don't realy wanna dance, you'd rather just move with the music in a way that simultaneously lets out all your emotion, frustration, aggression, etc. And sometimes metal can be calming.
Anyway, metal is beautiful. I've really been into DevilDrivers' album lately. It's very rhythmic, aggressive, and the dudes just click together so well. They're very talented.

You said that In Flames could be danced to, so I asked you how, where you got from that that I listen to Fall Out Boy or other crap like that I have no idea. And who said that metal fans lack social skills?
I completely agree... I can't stand Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance, or anything really listened to by the mainstream... People are idiots with no real taste in music, all because our society is becoming more and more about what's popular rather than what's good...
Personally, I don't really like Slayer... I dunno, I could just never get into them... But I love me some good ol' Rock ^_^
On a side note, next Saturday I will be seeing Disturbed, Serj Tankian, Stone Temple Pilots, Killswitch Engage, and many others, wootah!

I agree with you in everyway. When I listen to metal, I feel happy.People don't like metal because its fast, abrasive, aggressive, and often deals with dark themes. (Which also leads to the false stereotype that metal is satanic). But today I heard someone say that Dimebag Darrell was a complete joke. This coming someone whos favorite bands are the likes of Rise Against, and Panic! At The Disco. That irritated me because he obviously had no idea what he was talking about.
