I love metal and what pisses me off the most is when some young kid walks around saying that my chemical romance and fall out boy are the best bands ever. They say all older metal sucks such as Sabbath, Mettalica and slayer. They should just try to get into the music instead of saying there crappy bands are the best. I love mostly all types of metal such as thrash, death, heavy and nu metal. I dont really care for black metal though. Feel free to leave comments. If youre a fan of rap and hiphop and you have nothing worthwhile to say, just keep it to yourself. Also have youy guys heard of a band called forever in terror.

One day you will gain some maturity and not let other people's music taste affect you so much.

Im a classic metal guy like you. The main reason people are taking a like to all of these new bands that get their 15 minutes of fame is because everyone else is doing it.

IF they care about music enough they will eventually grow out of Fall Out Boy and other such bands. They're taste just isn't there yet.

I dunno, I try to be open to all kinds of music and in the past genres that I've bashed such as rap, country, and punk, I've come to like after spending some time looking for the good bands. But no matter how much time I spend looking for metal I can't find anything different. Everything that I find seems just plain gimmicky.

I use to feel the same as you, when I was in 7th grade. Metal was never meant to be listened to by the mainstream crowd. Come to terms with the fact alot of people like different music then you.

Sorry, but it's totally the contrary, metal is more and more mainstream to a frightening point. I was going to the library and a kid of 13 years old told me that my Behemoth shirt was awesome...

And you know what, when I have gone to see them, the age average was about 14 years old... I'm 24 damn it!

Not knowing black I understand..it's sort of obscure. But thrash?! If you want to listen to some real good metal, I'd suggest Master of Puppets by Metallica or The New Order by Testament.

No I actually like the instrumentals in metal quite a bit, I just hate the lack of variety in the lyrics and the lack of depth in the genre as a whole.

Easy. Mainstream music, whether good or bad, can be characterized as catchy melodies that are easy to dance to. Metal does not fall into either of those categories.

Most metal is not shown to the mainstream audience because many of the artists prefer to be underground. And that often times metal is immediately disregarded as unintelligible noise and labeled as garbage or ugly music. Many times is it turned away because of the loud screams and growls of the vocals and intensity of the music itself. That's the listeners preference and it can't be changed no matter how much you don't like it.

Metal has more rhythm present in it than most rap/hip-hop, pop, and mainstream rock could ever wish to have. And it's more complex rhythm. You could dance to it, it just wouldn't be your typical poser "look at me I'm cool" dancing. Metal is loaded with much more passion and emotion as well, and when it seeps into you, you don't realy wanna dance, you'd rather just move with the music in a way that simultaneously lets out all your emotion, frustration, aggression, etc. And sometimes metal can be calming.

Anyway, metal is beautiful. I've really been into DevilDrivers' album lately. It's very rhythmic, aggressive, and the dudes just click together so well. They're very talented.

Actually I don't dance much and I certainly don't like Fall out Boy. You said that In Flames could be danced to, so I asked you how, where you got from that that I listen to Fall Out Boy or other crap like that I have no idea. And who said that metal fans lack social skills?

I completely agree... I can't stand Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance, or anything really listened to by the mainstream... People are idiots with no real taste in music, all because our society is becoming more and more about what's popular rather than what's good...

Personally, I don't really like Slayer... I dunno, I could just never get into them... But I love me some good ol' Rock ^_^

On a side note, next Saturday I will be seeing Disturbed, Serj Tankian, Stone Temple Pilots, Killswitch Engage, and many others, wootah!

I was being sarcastic about the Black Metal comment to prove a point. What you consider real music alot of people will consider noise.

By the way, Your gay little black metal bands pale in comparison to cannibal Corpse. Grindcore is so much heavier and better than that trash black metal.

[QUOTE="airg6"][QUOTE="Orlando_Magic"]Easy. Mainstream music, whether good or bad, can be characterized as catchy melodies that are easy to dance to. Metal does not fall into either of those categories.darkmoney52

Some genres and bands do. Try listening to some melodic death metal like in flames.

How the hell do you dance?

How do you dance to fall out boy or any other mainstream bands. I personally dont dance, just mosh and get into circle pits.

Actually I don't dance much and I certainly don't like Fall out Boy. You said that In Flames could be danced to, so I asked you how, where you got from that that I listen to Fall Out Boy or other crap like that I have no idea. And who said that metal fans lack social skills?

I never said you could dance to it. I just said that it was some what melodic.

Idk. they don't look into it. I used to like rap, then I got introduced to Linkin Park, then I started looking up Disturbed and bought a few albums from them, then I started liking slipknot and korn and stuff. i told my friend one day I liked metal and showed him those bands, he loled and introduced me to shadows fall, converge and trivium. I wanted to give all of them a try because I had this ego at the time that if I like metal that no one likes I'll be more 1337 than them. I'm not like that now, but that's how I got into it.

If your so metal why don't you try to grow a pair and listen to Black Metal bands like Burzum and Darkthrone? Everyone has different musical taste, the sooner you learn this the less time you'll spend worrying about what the other kids in your school listen to.

By the way, Your gay little black metal bands pale in comparison to cannibal Corpse. Grindcore is so much heavier and better than that trash black metal.

I actually enjoy quite a bit of Cannibal Corpse, and grindcore (which Cannibal Corpse is not.)

I agree with you in everyway. When I listen to metal, I feel happy.

People don't like metal because its fast, abrasive, aggressive, and often deals with dark themes. (Which also leads to the false stereotype that metal is satanic). But today I heard someone say that Dimebag Darrell was a complete joke. This coming someone whos favorite bands are the likes of Rise Against, and Panic! At The Disco. That irritated me because he obviously had no idea what he was talking about.
