Marijuana turns people into morons and I know that because I know several people that smoke it and even out of its effects they start to talk so stupidly...
Something that cheats your brain mustn't be good. Moreover, it's a vice and I don't care if someone says it hasn't nicotine. What a excuse!
Even if it was, who cares? It's not the government's prerogative to protect us from ourselves. Ideally, it should really only be protecting us from infringements on our liberties.Legal. Marijuana just isn't toxic enough to harm you, and it doesn't have any addictive properties in it.

Yes, most importantly it has to protect our natural rights; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In allowing these drugs to be legal, they could potentially allow those rights to be infringed upon.
The reason why its not legal, is because we can grow it in our own back yards. Think about it, how much material would we need to make a ciggarette? a Bottle of beer? its hard to, it wouldnt benefit the industry or any company.Kamekazi_69
Huh? Lots of people make beer at home. It is easy, and the legal amount you can make in your home in any one year is enormous.

Yes, you can make all the beer you want. You just can't sell it.
Marijuana is not harmless I smoked the stuff for years. It's as bad if not worse then alcohol. Marijuana has been know to trigger schizophrenia in those that are geneticaly suseptable. I'm 30 years old and I've seen what marijuana does to poeple. Some can smoke it for years without too many problems but others can develop serious problems from it. If I knew how my life would have turned out I would have never smoked the stuff.

Yeah you can... you just got to get the right permits, like you would have to do anyway to sell anything

Humm, I think there is a limit that you can make even for yourself. I remember looking it up on the ATF website. However, the amount was ENORMOUS.

Care to elaborate? I do not see how allowing marijuana to be consumed legally could infringe upon anybody's rights in a reasonable way.Well it kills you. achol and cigerits should be blocked too.wind-OF-s0rrOwWeed doesn't kill people.

Thats what I meant. You can't make it in your basement and then go ahead and sell it, you need liquor license. Sorry, should have been more specific.
It should be legalized for several reasons:
It's safer than tobacco and alcohol
It would put some of the criminal organizations out of business
It would bring in a lot of much needed tax money to the terrible econemy
Millions of people have been wrongly put in jail over something so trivial
It has medicinal quality for a lot of ailments

Let's say someone is completely baked out of their mind, goes for a ride, and kills someone. Or, for example, they start hallucinating and kill someone who they think is trying to harm them.

Well thats the same thing a drinking and driving (although not as dangerous).
You don't hallucinate from weed

Hmm...so since a few crazies can't handle it then everyone should not be able to enjoy it? If that was the case then guns would be outlawed, cookies too.If everyone smoked marijuana, nothing would get done around here. Everybody would be at home, with rooms full of smoke, being easily impressed by everything. An already lazy country would get even lazier.jasonw131
If that's what you think would happen(which it wouldn't), then people like you could capitalize on that by selling things to the lazy people that would impress them (since they would be so easily impressed by everything).

Yea, everybody always thinks that. My friend's roommate smoked and didn't think he was high, because he wasn't seeing anything.

Yes, and I don't like alcohol either. But we've already tired banning that and it didn't work. As for you're last point, the fact still stands that you are in much less control of you're actions.
it should be legal because the government dosent own the individuals own body. its up to the user if theyre going to do it.
its not like making it illegal matters anyway

So, essentially you're saying security over choice and liberty, huh? That's exactly what I was speaking against in my first post. There are a large number of individuals who are willing to take the risk you described above by legalizing Marijuana. Why should your fear be valued more than their right to choose? All modern societies grant a certain amount of trust to adult individuals, we already do it with alcohol, driving, guns and knives. This is no different. So, essentially you're saying security over choice and liberty, huh? When it comes to matters like drugs, yes.
There are a large number of individuals who are willing to take the risk you described above by legalizing Marijuana.
There is also a large number who would choose safety before promoting a drug for morons to consume.
Why should your fear be valued more than their right to choose?
It shouldn't. But their right to choose shouldn't infringe on basic rights like, I don't know, living.

So make driving while under the influence illegal... kinda like it already is. :P
The second hypothetical has never happened from a marijuana high, ever.

The fact still stands that you are in much less control of your own actions. I really don't understand why anyone would intentionally take something that makes them a babbling idiot.
