Wife starving

Ok so a recent bill in Afghanistan that allows husbands to starve their wife's if they refuse to have sex, has now been made law.

Here is the story link and a quick sum up of the law.

It allows a man to withhold food from his wife if she refuses his sexual demands; a woman must get her husband's permission to work; and fathers and grandfathers are given exclusive custody of children.

What do you think of this, I know its a very heavily religion based country but this really strips the woman of more of there human rights, it is essentially rape.

It's a bit too late for that. Coalition forces are in Afghanistan for several years now.

Can somebody please tell me the justifiability of this law? Why would they bother doing this? This is only going to complicate global affairs further.

The difficulty with trying to change this kind of thing is that it will possibly come down to something written in the Qur' an and that they will hold that as there justification.
