[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]If you call cutting Obama's lead in half already among women (and increasing) a 'war on woman' be my guest.

But I would also turn off the MSLSD and come back to reality.

KC_Hokie
And yet you still ignore the fact that two of the biggest issues for women in swing states is abortion and equal pay.

ok but that doesn't equate to a war on women nor rights in jeopardy. Especially since Obama's 2008 lead has been nearly cut in half among women.

I never said that there was an actual war on women, just that the campaign against the Republican party's views on things like abortion, contraceptives, and equal pay are not popular among the women they are trying to get to vote for them.

I'm pro-abortion...but I'm honestly sick people on my side's way of thinking.

Listen, people who are "pro-life" aren't trying to take away women's rights. They're viewpoint is that life begins at conception. Now, it is no longer your own body if you have another human life inside of you. They view abortion as killing another human being. You don't have the "choice" to kill a fetus just as you don't have a "choice" to kill another human being.

And who want's to make birth control illegal?

[QUOTE="dave123321"]Once we fix the economy, then we can talk.airshocker

And only this because none of what the OP even said is actually happening. Todd Akin isn't going to get elected(thankfully), and the GOP would be insane to pursue anything but measures to help the economy.

There have actually been a lot of such bills, at both the state and national level, in recent years.

Forget about the economy and foreign policy. Forget about race and gay rights. This country cannot look at those issues until these stupid politicians (mostly men) stop trying to hold back women from their parenthood rights. We're trying to support women's rights in the Middle East when Paul Ryan, Todd Akin, and Richard Mourdock are trying to do away with birth control and Roe vs. Wade?! If you don't support abortion that's one thing, but then don't act like it's not a big deal when young girls and women are attacked and forced to give birth to their rapist's child. Have people seriously lost their minds?!

I'm not sure I understand your complaint. Does it change the fact that a pro-life law would hurt women's rights?

It's not that women's rights are more important than gay rights. The problem is that if these politicians keep looking to undo what was done in the past, then the focus is driven away from the present and future issues. If they start with women's rights-- which started from the early 1900's--then what will stop them from undoing everything after that?

Honestly, why discuss issues he wont be able to change lol. Even the economy cant be fixed by these politicians. The only people who can change it are small business owners. Taxing the rich doesnt help much either, they normally have overseas accounts and use many ways to get around taxes.

These politicians want to make something illegal that may kill 3000 babies a day (and it may not, but I am not sure how someone can support taking that risk). This doesn't mean they want to take way everyones rights.

This. CNN pointed out in the fact checks that taxing the rich at Obama's proposed levels would still produce a deficit; a rate "many times higher" would be necessary. (or just cut spending).

As long as the government isn't paying for it then I guess I don't care. They can murder as many of their children as they want as long as they don't use my taxpayer money to do it.

when is X thing NOT at stake in every election cycle.

i dunno how to feel exactly about the fact that you can get virtually any demographic riled up whether it be women, jews, religious voters, the secularists. it seems very easy to get any specific group emotional.

I'm saying that men seem to be the ones who are pushing the issue on what is rape and when women and girls should get abortions. I haven't seen many interviews and/or statements from any female politicians--democrat and republican. And more of them are running their mouths and then pretending that they never said what they said. Why are the men trying to redefine rape? And, it affects ALL women regardless of race, status, sexuality, etc.

i have to admit, i find this hard to believe. of all the demographics i'd expect and continue to think Obama will lead with women. I mean seriously Hokie, which party has continuously been putting their foot in their mouth on women issues like abortion, rape, and healthcare. ------------ reading this article: "Ginny Lewis, a Democrat and 72-year-old retired district attorney from Princeton, Ky., says she'll vote for Romney because "I'm tired of the Republicans blaming all the debt on Democrats, so let them take over and see what they do."" *facepalm* it's like Americans have perpetual amnesia. every four years it kicks in and everyone forgets for everything. she's 72 years old. she's old enough to have known Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. nevermind innumerable Republicans that have held seats in Senate and Congress. gah! why are people dumb?.....

American voters are insanely stupid.

I believe women voters care more about the economy than social issues such as abortion or gay rights. I read it somewhere but I could be wrong on that so if someone could, correct me on that.

Also, I agree that the typical American voter is stupid when it comes to anything related to their candidate's positions but for some reason they remember the other side's gaffes and only the general viewpoints of their candidates like "obama's going fix healthcare!" or "Romney is going to fix the economy!" without getting into specifics.

what i dont understand about rapes is why dont women just take a morning after pill?

mingmao3046

Conservatives get in the way of that, too:

"A Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room doctor refused to give a rape victim a morning-after pill because he said it was against his Mennonite religion," -Source

"A rape victim from Tampa, Fla.who was denied emergency contraceptionby a jail guard can proceed with a lawsuit against the Hillsborough County Sheriff and a jail guard, a federal judge ruled this week.

Michele Spinelli cited her religious beliefs as the reason for declining to give the victim her pill, according to a complaintobtained by Courthouse News." -Source

"In Tuscon, a rape victim was prevented from obtaining a 'morning after' pill to prevent conception by a Fry's pharmacist who has moral and religious objections to dispensing medication the pharmacy stocked. Unfortunately, Fry's was just about the only pharmacy in the area thatdidstock the medication."-Source

And so on and so forth. This is what we mean by 'conservatives pushing their bull$hit on the rest of us'. I hope they choke on their pride. And I mean to death.

I wonder if those conservatives would still be ok if it were them/their wife/daughter etc that has to carry the baby of a black man who raped her..

He didn't say it was God's will that she was raped

He said it was God's will that the child be allowed to live.

Liberals have a problem with allowing children to live.??

That's disgusting

A woman is raped.

Liberal solution . . .?

Murder a baby.
