[QUOTE="Neon-Tiger"][QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"]i wouldnt go with an entire genre, but the outspoken fans of tool and radiohead annoy me.LoG-SacramentI understand Radiohead from online forums, but the Tool fans I know IRL are pretty chill about it. ive known moderate tool fans that are fine about it too, but the tool elitism seems to come in waves. right around the time they release a new album, there tends be a lot of talk about how tool is the only creative force in modern music and all kinds of waste like that. That sounds more like bandwagon jumpers than actual Tool fans. :P
I don't know who's worse, every genre has the fans who believe the genre either died years ago, is past it's prime, or only believe in a new artist until they're too popular/successful for their taste. They're not hard to find at all. theharlemshakeElitists are everywhere, not much of a point trying to shove them all in the genre you like the least. *stares at poll*

I don't think I've seen any here, but I've seen tons in Youtube comments.
Classic rock fans. Sure, ti was great, but they always deny anything and everything modern, even though theres some good stuff being produced now (hard to find stuff, but good.)

The most vocal fan was banned.....but there were quite a few that knocked anyone that didn't worship the band. They seem to have left though since I haven't seen any evidence left. If you didn't like Tool then you didn't understand music was the general comment they seemed to rally round. But like I said...I haven't seen any of them for some time. Most of the Tool elites have left it seems. Back in the day they used to be prevalent.LJS9502_basic

Tool is my favorite band, but I definitely don't go around "being elitist" about it. When I first listened to Tool, I knew things about them just from listening to their music... for example, that their singer, Maynard, used to be in the military. I really understood it, so for me it's a very personal... I don't know, connection? But yeah, I totally agree with you that some Tool fans are just that, tools.
Almost all metal heads I've seen here are into other genres as well....:PFrom personal experience, Metal Heads. I always seem to meet the close minded ones, who hate everything that isn't metal.

I wasn't really talking about people here on gamespot, I was referring more to people I know.

I'd say from my experience almost all GS metalheads like other genres as well...

It's about how progressive they are. whether you like them or not, their use of crazy time signatures and scales to make some truly awesome music to listen to (not just complicated crap that sounds like crap), is pretty cool. Though there are a ton of bands out there better then tool

You have nearly 600 artists on your last.fm and I have nearly 750. Yet we share only three artists... how is that even possible? :|

I think that's a little irrelevant, he can be open minded and not listen to the bands you listen to and vice versa. And it's not like you have add every single band you listen to your Last.FMHe listens to a lot of underground music.[QUOTE="RushKing"][QUOTE="joesh89"]

I was just making a crack about how many artists we have combined and how little we share.

Well considering which post you quoted it seemed like you were making a reference about that.[QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] That's not many when you consider how many metal fans are here though....saturos? I'm not sure I've only ever heard him discuss metal.AxeStranglerI should have added an "etc." to that, I'm not going to list every metal fan on GS that also likes other music.:P I thought I remember saturos listing some none metal bands he listens to, IDK though...I know he at least likes Porcupine Tree.:P I think he's into some electronica or something of that nature..... I think he said that on this thread.
i'd have to say classic rock. I've met so many who act like all of today's rock bands are totally obsolete. I find it a silly argument. it's not their fault they were born too late.
Metal and classic rock. Classical elitists are hard to come by.
the Classic rock elitist seems to have the dumbest of all arguments though (those being stuck in time)
All of you, because you all sit here arguing over something that comes down to personal opinion. The fact that you think ANY group are elitists, the fact that you even care, makes you an elitist yourself.
I like techno and trance. You won't ever hear a peep from me because you'll all be too busy *****ing over metal vs rap.
I only make this comment now because I was asked about it (and had to think about it), so I'm not being a hypocrit.

We are not. We are not arguing about people being fans of things. We are arguing about those who take things too far.
We are we are we are we are we are
