Here's the deal. You guys can have Quebec.

In fact, you won't even have to invade. I am officially GIVING you Quebec. Enjoy.

Zeke129

Hey hey hey...we don't want Quebec either. We weren't even going to annex Quebec after we invaded.

I think the Canadians constantly eggsagerate how different they are to us. I mean it's like they do that just to look different and not be part of the highly-bashed country so they say this stuff like "we're not like them, so don't start hating us too". It's rather annoying.

It would be bad if the people thought it was bad. If it was well received, it would be a good thing because people are happy. And if people are happy, only good things can come from that.

But, noone would like the idea, so it would be a mostly bad decision. The US economy is very strong though in that is able to handle such large tragedies, such as 9/11. So i know the US economy could handle it. Not so sure about Canada, they could bring our economy down.

And what type of government would be have? Capitalistic government i guess.

What difference does that make? Southern Ontario's population is minimal compared to the total population, which still means that most Canadians are nothing like Americans.

It would work perfectly! Canada is only 20% french and the rest is english (for the americans that dont know that) We all speak the same language with the same accents....no we do not say EH unless we want to get our asses kiked ;). We would be the most feard country in the world and no other country could ever stand up to us.

Personally i wouldnt mind the name

United States of Canada

However every single country in the world would disagree to this because they would have no power in the world. Canada and america are basically the same countries with some minor diffrences. Canada has an awsome navy fleet and america has the most feard army in the world. ONE DAY It will happen....we should just leave quebec behind and let them be there own country and join the states. That means we would have no french and 335 million people

And I'd like a clear idea of what you think of Amercan culture, instead of the stereotypical McDonald's eating, Cocacola drinking, cowboy hat wearing idiots you think we are. All I'm hearing is stuff about that, and not real American passed down traditions.

Besides, if you look at our boder states you'd see the culture is very similar to the corresponding provinces...Washington to British Columbia, Michigan to Ontario etc.... But it seems you guys constantly deny anything...

First, that name would NEVER work out. EVAR. It would make it seem like the States are part of Canada, and Americans would not be happy over that.

The name would be like... The United American States... or The United Northern States. Something like that.

Though I'm 100% sure this will happen someday in the next 50 years. The worlds population is getting so big and we only have 30-40 million Canadians and all of this land mass that's being used for nothing.....come here to canada and look at all of these trees. We are getting 40 degree weather down here and that's around 105 in america. Most of western canada wants to join the US anyways. Take BC and Alberta and mabey Saskatchewan...hell i cant even spell that province.

Yeah, I highly doubt Canada, or any other country for that matter, would agree to merge with the U.S. unless they were really desperate.

LJS9502_basic

I think in the future there will be less countries.....so I believe it will one day happen...just like Europe will be one country. I'm not talking about in our lifetime, however.

I doubt it, because that would spawn new world wars.

Another thing. Why do you constantly use the word "melting pot" as derogatory? And different accents? Yeah, about as different as a blue house and a house that's blue...You pronounce your vowels a little different, that's it. You're exaggerating. Both America and Canada share lots of Anglo Saxon traditions such as architecture, cuisine, language, and all the main things...Well in the Northeast at least. If you excluded the Southeast and southwest it's hard to not agree there's not a lot diffrent.

Speak for yourself...are you easterner??? Because i can understand where your coming from if you are and yes we westerners know you guys speak with different accents. I live in Kamloops BC and almost all of my friends want to become an American citizen. When i get older I'm considering moving down to the states and most of my friends are to. We don't like our country because

1: French
2: More french
3: We are always labeled with the word EH
4: Our military still uses old tanks

hmmm....only good thing about this place is what??? I hope america takes over canada! im tired of our french ass government that makes us learn some french JUST BECAUSE 20% of our country is french. I dont blame americans for not liking us.

Both America and Canada share lots of Anglo Saxon traditions such as architecture, cuisine, language, and all the main things...Well in the Northeast at least. If you excluded the Southeast and southwest it's hard to not agree there's not a lot diffrent.camreeno360

Where in my post did it make a derogatory implication that America is a melting pot? It just means that our culture is different. I didnt say which one is good/bad. Also if you've been anywhere to any other province/territory other than Ontario, you'd know that even Canadians have VERY different accents, so I'm not even going to bother with the U.S accent comparison. You cant exclude anything, Southeast and Southwest are not Canadians? What about up north, where our first nations people inhibit? They dont even speak English most of the time, rather, their native tongue. As for Anglo-Saxon traditions, not really...our diverse ethnic composition really takes away from that, and it's becoming more apparent by the day.

United States of Canada

camreeno360

No that still sounds like Canada. I'd go with The United States of Ameranada (pronounced "uhmair - anaduh") ;)

 hmm......hard to pronounce???Atleast i wouldnt be flamed anymore on XBL just cause im canadian :D

The worlds population is getting to big and we are the 2nd biggest country in the world yet only 30 million people live here. I bet if canada joined with america there would be so much more space. I think it would be better for everybody. Western canada is just like the usa anyways....i didnt even know what a milk bag was until a few days ago and im canadian. We dont have no accents and we get nice weather. Besides.....half of canadians watch CNN

Exactly. We're like brothers who don't even know each other. We really need to pay attention to each other a little more and we could be like Germany and Austria or something. Really. Potential.

GERMANY ZOMGZ.....lol nah i don't want to be like Germany. Just hoping someday the world will stop separating themselves and trying to proof that one country is better then another. ;)

[QUOTE="camreeno360"]I think the Canadians constantly eggsagerate how different they are to us. I mean it's like they do that just to look different and not be part of the highly-bashed country so they say this stuff like "we're not like them, so don't start hating us too". It's rather annoying.XileLord

It's true, we're nothing like you. Canada is a vast country, only Southern Ontario is similar to mainstream US culture.

Even though it's vastly uninhabited...

What difference does that make? Southern Ontario's population is minimal compared to the total population, which still means that most Canadians are nothing like Americans.

You're constantly differentiating yourselves because you don't want the rest of the world to think of you as "America Jr.". That's the way I see it.

The point is, are we "America Jr"? No. we have different accents than you, our governments are different, our society and economies are different (capitalist vs socialist). America is a big melting pot, we're not. We have reasons for denying the status of "America Jr.", because we're not.

You're actually for the American takeover-esque of Canada? Dayum! I have neutral feelings for this topic though.

Have you been outside of BC at all? I've been to Quebec, PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario (my residence) and Canadians in general (even of Caucasian descent), speak with very different accents. With regards to my ethnic background, yes I'm an "easterner", but I speak English as good as the rest of you "Westerners" because I was raised here since a young age and no less "Canadian" than you.

1. So what? More proof that we're not America Jr.

2. Same as above.

3. Americans are stereotyped as fat Mcdonalds eating couch potatoes.

4. Our military is quite advanced actually.

My feelings as well. America is a great place, but I never, ever, want to be associated with them.

Likewise.

Well about a third of the people here aren't even white, so that says something. In Canada it's something in the 80 percents in white people, most of whom are English. You're not more diverse than America, not that I care or want to brag about it. There are probably more Native Americans left than Inuits anyway.

Don't they have alot of Asians there? You compared in percentage to the US.

But American culture demands/expects that immigrants to conform to mainstream American/white way of live, so even with 1/3 of your population being non-white, it doesn't make a strong point. Also only 20% of Canadians are of English descent, it's true, check Wikipedia.

I don't think we press white culture on anybody. Where did you guys get that idea? But America does have sort of the norm to ensure someone gets integrated into society before letting them go. If we look at countries like Germany for example, only one in three immigrant kids has German friends. So just letting someone in so matter what really has some separating effects. If that's what you were thinking of. I personally prefer the melting pot to the salad bowl approach.

I dont hate America at all, I'm just a defender of Canadian identity. I didnt say Canada is more diverse, I said Canada composed of diverse ethnic groups. Sorry about the southwest/southeast thing, but my argument remains. With only 20% of Canadians being of English descent, and our society lenient towards immigrant's integration into mainstream Canadian society (we dont push them), and the way our society/country is structured. I still argue that Canada != America Jr.

America is a melting pot, Canada is a salad bowl. (assimilation vs multiculturalism), yes out government actually promotes multiculturalism.
