[QUOTE="Aznsilvrboy"][QUOTE="camreeno360"][QUOTE="Aznsilvrboy"][QUOTE="camreeno360"]Another thing. Why do you constantly use the word "melting pot" as derogatory? And different accents? Yeah, about as different as a blue house and a house that's blue...You pronounce your vowels a little different, that's it. You're exaggerating. Both America and Canada share lots of Anglo Saxon traditions such as architecture, cuisine, language, and all the main things...Well in the Northeast at least. If you excluded the Southeast and southwest it's hard to not agree there's not a lot diffrent.camreeno360
Where in my post did it make a derogatory implication that America is a melting pot? It just means that our culture is different. I didnt say which one is good/bad. Also if you've been anywhere to any other province/territory other than Ontario, you'd know that even Canadians have VERY different accents, so I'm not even going to bother with the U.S accent comparison. You cant exclude anything, Southeast and Southwest are not Canadians? What about up north, where our first nations people inhibit? They dont even speak English most of the time, rather, their native tongue. As for Anglo-Saxon traditions, not really...our diverse ethnic composition really takes away from that, and it's becoming more apparent by the day.
Now it sounds like you hate America or something. Saying Canada is more diverse? That's actually not true concidering a third of America isn't white. (not that I care). And I was talking about our Southwest and Southeast, not yours. I dont hate America at all, I'm just a defender of Canadian identity. I didnt say Canada is more diverse, I said Canada composed of diverse ethnic groups. Sorry about the southwest/southeast thing, but my argument remains. With only 20% of Canadians being of English descent, and our society lenient towards immigrant's integration into mainstream Canadian society (we dont push them), and the way our society/country is structured. I still argue that Canada != America Jr.
America is a melting pot, Canada is a salad bowl. (melting pot vs multiculturalism), yes out government actually promotes multiculturalism.
Again, why do you guys hate the melting pot? What's bad about it? I said earlier it's successful with bringing everyone under a common roof. I actually think the salad bowl keeps everyone stuck to their native cultures, while the melting ...ah whatever *panting*. And you admitted Canada is America Jr.! Only kidding buddy ;)I dont know about other Canadians, but I dont hate the melting pot. I just used it as an example to show that Canada and the U.S aren't as alike as one might think. 8)
