Well, today one of my female friends told me she found a boyfriend, and when I asked who, she said "Well, he's 21 years old and goes to the community college."

I tried not to laugh. My friend is 15 years old. Yet shes still texting me, mad as hell for practically laughing in her face. Sorry. I needed a good laugh.

Im curious what you guys think....you guys think a sophomore and a college dude would work out for a real relationship?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Any college guy that would date a 15 year old little kid is a total loser and pedophile. If I were you, I would strongly consider reporting this. Sick. just sick

They aren't a pedophile. Pedophiles go after younger people, not 15-year olds.

I beg to differ. There are many girls that so not start puberty till 14. Some 15 year old are in 9th grade. This could just be as close as he could get to what he wants...

Initially, it totally seems that way--but it rarely ever works out for very long. I've dated guys that age when I was 15(two years ago). Let her enjoy this little fling though. She'll surely learn from it one way or another. = )

That is a possibility...this could be his target age group or he really could be a pedophile and this is just as close as he can get (with as minimal consequences as possible). Either way it is wrong.

OMG no just no no no. No self respecting girl would enter into a relationship like this. Maybe after college when the maturity/income/lifestyle/etc levels balance out more... but not this. No self respecting guy should either. No parent should be okay with this relationship at this age. No friend of the parties involved should be okay with this.

Sometimes laws suck and hurt (relatively) innocent people (an 18 year old being convicted of stat. rape for being with his 16/17 year old GF...depending on the state.) But we have these laws for a reason. They are designed to protect kids from predators...what kid would not like to date someone in college.

Thats just nasty...

I felt akward about the idea of dating a 17 year-old sophmore as a 20 year old who's been out of HS for over 3 years and that played a big part in me turning this girl I know (who I do hang out with and am still friends with) down....

MAYBE the age difference wouldn't be an issue later on in life, but at that time period it is a HUGE issue....

Well, a three year age difference isn't bad. Double it though and it can be a problem, depending on the age of of the younger person. If they're both the age of consent, it doesn't matter what the age difference is.

If they consummate the relationship, then yes It is illegal for someone over 18 to "be with" a minor...called Statutory Rape

Hell a 6 year difference isn't horrible but only later on in life after school.

In my case the 3 year difference meant ALOT. Shes got 2 more years of high school while I have been out of high school for 3 years. The whole thought of it is kind of creepy to me. I mean that would have been just like someone earlier had said, like a senior in HS dating someone in junior high.....

There isn't an actual law against dating, only sex. In this case, sex would be illegal. If you search the web, you can find statutory rape laws in your area.

Um yes it is a big deal. Just because a lot of people shoot up heroine, does that make it okay? If she messes around with a guy her age - as you yourself puts it - messing around - that is still a lack of self respect. But what you are missing here and are trying to justify here is something beyond just promiscuous sex or a shallow fling (I wont even give it the benefit of calling it a relationship). What you are defending is something between a 15 year old. A minor... not even old enough to drive on their own... with a guy who is allowed to vote, gamble, and buy beer. The financial income and lifestyles they are exposed to are completely different. Their experiences in life can not even be compared. You are talking about a girl who most likely still comes home and follows the rules of her parents / household - comparing it to a guy who is more than capable and legally allowed to live on his own. Their financial contribution is not even comparable. All that above is lacking to form any meaningful relationship. So that all just boils down to physical attraction and sex. That is covered by the fact that it is illegal if there is any sexual involvement. It's quite sad that just because situations like this are rampant in certain areas (mostly in the poor urban areas - which leads me to believe that it is lack of education) does NOT and it will NEVER make it okay.

Wait you're 20 right? That means you graduated at 17?

Think of it this way. When he was 18, she was 12... Short answer, no, once it goes beyond 4 years, it gets strange and creepy and doesnt work

So did I :) I was homeschooled and skipped over 7th grade. But in LostProphetFLCL's case, the 17 year old still has two years of high school. Shouldn't she be in 12th grade?
