Tact light / IRNV getting tweaked.. among many other things :D


Bugfixes:
Fixed a problem with spawn timer now showing blue border on startup and lost spawn point
Fixed a problem where player who joined queuing on End of round got spawn screen stuck on screen, but unable to do anything with it untill next round loaded
Fixed a problem where camera would change to 3rd person on killcam when killcam was turned off in server settings
Fixed stat references on several dogtags
Fixed for surveillance ribbon not counting TUGS
Fixed a missing combat area lines on the minimap for Grand Bazaar conquest small
Moved a tank spawn in US base on Caspian Border so it would not be destroyed by a falling tree
Fixed a problem where placing C4 with the russians soldier was playing US faction VO
Fixed a problem where TV guided missiles could be shot into its own helicopter and destroy it
Fixed a problem when attempting to fire lock on weapons without a target
Tweaked the chat, it should now be a bit easier to read
Fixed several vehicles that did not properly shoot rockets and guns towards their predictive sights
Fixed the G17 Supressed Laser not working properly
Added alternate HUD colors to help colorblinds
Added a network interpolation setting. This allows users with good bandwidth reduce latency, but might increase some stuttering. The user can find what works best for his connection by tweaking the slider.
Increased the Spawn protection radius on TDM
Fixed a problem with smoke on land vehicles, Missiles should now miss more often
Fixed a problem where users could end up with IRNV scope in any vehicle
Fixed a problem where player dies if vaulting over a ledge and into water while sprinting
Fixed several crashes and increased general stability
Fixed a problem where the user was unable to revive two players that have the bodies one over the other
Fixed so you can assign an axis and use as a digital input. This makes it possible for the player (on pc) to assign one of the sticks on a gameped to be used for throttle/brake.
Fixed a problem with the Kill camera acting up when suiciding from parachute
Fixed air radar was showing to much. now lasertagged, heatsignature above threshold, enemy missiles and capture points are only visible on air radar
Fixed a problem where the game would enter a technical hang if the user pressed pause menu and tilde at the same time
Fixed a problem where you could get green flashes on screen
You can now reassign cycle weapons
Fixed so the weapon zooms automatically after bipod deploy is gone when using zoom toggle
Fixed a problem where the parachute would stay stuck in air if the owner was killed


Balance Tweaks:
Fixed several weapons so they are properly suppressed and hide the player on the minimap when fired.
Tweaked Tactical Light so it is not as blinding over longer ranges.
Tweaked the IRNV scope so it is limited to usage only at close range.
Reduced heat masking effectiveness of Spec Ops Camo.
Fixed a bug where Ammo spec would give additional 40mm grenades instead of Frag spec.
Increased the number of additional 40mm grenades from Frag spec.
Fixed so AT mines only live for 20 seconds after a player dies to prevent infinite mines. (We want to make a different fix in the future, it's in JIRA).
Increased the Time to Live on sniper caliber rounds to allow extreme distance shots.
Fixed several weapon descriptions, calibers, and fire rates. The weapons themselves have not changed.
Fixed so the M9 and MP443 pistol can be equipped by the opposing faction when it is unlocked at 100 kills.
Fixed Laser Guided Missiles missing their targets if the target is moving too fast.
Reduced the effectiveness of Stealth on Air Vehicles.
Reduced the effectiveness of Beam Scanning for Jets.
Reduced the damage done to Armored Vehicles and Infantry from AA guns.
Increased the damage RPGs and Tank shells do to AA vehicles.
Slightly decreased the accuracy for all weapons on fully automatic, burst fire is now preferable at mid to long range.
Increased the effective accuracy of long bursts for LMGs when using a bipod.
Slightly increased the range of the 44magnum bullets.
Increased the close range damage of 4.6x30mm and 5.7x28mm bullets.
Increased the reload time of the Mortar from 3.5sec to 4.8sec and increased the time it takes before a shell hits the ground.
Reduced the aimed accuracy bonus given by a Suppressor for the MP7, P90, PP2000, PP-19, and UMP45.
Increased the range and FOV for designating targets with the SOFLAM and vehicle Laser Designators.
Decreased the effectiveness of 12g FRAG ammo when equipped on semi-automatic and automatic shotguns.
Slightly Increased the power of Fighter Jet Cannons against all vehicle targets, especially Helicopters.
Decreased the power of Miniguns against Jets and Helicopters.
Increased the power of Stingers against Jets.
Flares reload times for Jets and Helicopter Gunners have been increased.
Tweaked the AN94 so its burst fire better conveys the real world advantage offered by this weapon.
Added Single Shot to the AN94 as an available fire mode.
Slightly increased the recoil on the M416 and removed the Burst Fire mode (this weapon incorrectly had burst fire, which was not authentic).
Tweaked the spawns for TDM on Kharg Island, Grand Bazaar, Caspian Border, Seine Crossing, Operation Firestorm, Damavand Peak and Noshahar Canals
Moved a tank spawn in US base on Caspian Border so it would not be destroyed by a falling tree
Tweaked the Gas station Capture area on Conquest on Caspian Border
Tweaked the max vehicle height on Noshahar Canals

I hope thye make it so you can shoot inside jeeps/humvees.

I love BF3, but my only complaint is you can only shoot the driver I think. I came up on a guy inside a humvee where he was controlling the turret by video. the driver was dead, the door was blwon off, I had open shots to the gunner but I couldn't hit him. It really ruined the immersion for me.

IIRC, that means that both bullets from the burst will hit the exact same place. That sounds amazing (the rate of fire is so high that the second bullet is fired before recoil happens)

Some really awesome changes, patch also likely includes B2K and those maps will be unlocked on the 14th (console patch on 7th, PS3 has week exclusive).

Update is usually smaller on consoles from what I've experienced. The 478mb patch for PC was only 178mb on console.

Have you seen how useless Stingers are against jets? Shoot one, jet pops flares. Shoot a second, jet OUTRUNS it, and pops flares.

I for one applaud this tweak.

Finally a fix for the IR scope. I like it this way. Not completely removed, just effective at close distances. No longer can you lay out on a mountain picking off people.

Knowing how EA usually rolls out new content, the patch probably contains Karkand too so that you can just play it instantly if you somehow don't have the LE and decide to get BF3 and pay for Karkand.

I personally think they should just release the patch on the 6th, its not like it would be able to play it anyways until next week.

IRNV and tac. lights getting nerfed. Frag shots getting fixed. AA against infantry and tanks getting fixed. Flight ceiling being adjusted. This is going to be an AWESOME patch.

It does include Karkand. But they also said that with future patches (and possible future DLC/expansions) they would not be including DLC, thus making the mandatory patches much smaller.

They did the same in BC2 and it was crap at range. So they fixed it and it was a beast then at long range just as it should be. So how did they mess it up on launch for BF3? DICE confuse me sometimes

There are some fixes that games have that are like, "How did they miss that..." that makes you feel like they didn't really finish the game before releasing. Example, making the chat easier to read. Really? They didn't look at the screen long enough to realize it needed to be easier to read during that, what, 2 year development?

Absolutely. You should be able to buy a game, knowing it is a 100%, full, complete product. They didn't do a significant enough of testing, the evidence is clear with this mile long list! Heavens, you don't go into a clothes shop and buy half a shirt!

It was a complete product at launch. All their doing is improving what's there.

You can't deny there were quite a few things wrong with BF3 at launch, and still are. No reserved slots on servers, for instance.

I am wondering; playing for a while in a small server I was getting evaporated while in infantry by an Russian Anti-Air vehicle, kinda hard to destroy it with an RPG when it's shots are almost instant deaths. Aren't they going to nerf it? I heard they were buffing them instead.

Comprehensive testing on such a large game takes a great deal of time and money, that nowadays isn't always provided by publishers. Publishers don't always allow extra time on games as they want them released at a specific time to maximise profits. The developers were clearly (and still are) trying to address every problem in this game, so be thankful for that. Don't forget that games released more than 10 years ago also had bugs in them on release, some practically game-breaking bugs that couldn't be fixed because the ability to patch games wasn't around, leaving you with a broken game that could never be fixed. Also, my copy of Battlefield 3 doesn't actually work anymore. After the last patch the game crashes after 10 seconds of play, leaving me with a broken game. But I'm not complaining to much, I'm not spamming their message boards (which a lot of people are doing over stupid things like nerfed weapons), I'm not uninstalling my game, or sending death threats, I'm just being patient and hoping that the next patch fixes what is an isolated issue. If nothing results with the next patch then I will go from there, maybe send an email about my problem to see what they can do. So if you think that you have problems and want to get all pissy about it, maybe think about my experience with BF3.

But I'm not complaining to much, I'm not spamming their message boards (which a lot of people are doing over stupid things like nerfed weapons), I'm not uninstalling my game, or sending death threats, I'm just being patient and hoping that the next patch fixes what is an isolated issue. If nothing results with the next patch then I will go from there, maybe send an email about my problem to see what they can do. So if you think that you have problems and want to get all pissy about it, maybe think about my experience with BF3.

DICE has had a bit of an issue with game testing and releasing games a few months too early for the past decade, but I do agree about the attitude of handling the baggage that comes along with gaming on the open platform of PC, it's really frustrating how self centered some people are when a game gives them issues on PC. You want to play on this platform, learn to understand its strengths and weaknesses, and try to be a little more lenient toward developers, especially those that aren't giving up on this platform entirely. Funny story, the patch before last patch broke the game for me, and now I can play as of the latest patch, hopefully the next patch doesn't break it again, or better yet, it will run smoothly for both of us.

It was a complete product at launch. All their doing is improving what's there.

We have different opinions then on what a "complete game" is. For me, a complete game is not only one that is functional and operational. It is also tried and tested numerous times to improve the users experience and remove ALL bugs. A bugged game is not a complete game, as buggy means it is not fully operational.

DICE games are notoriously buggy/unpolished upon release. You basically pay for the beta and get the final game 3-4 months later. BF3 feels considerably less polished than previous games, but, fortunately, this patch shows that there might still be a light at the end of the tunnel. Although, I do have to say that getting everything right for a multiplayer game is very difficult. Most singleplayer issues can be overlooked while multiplayer issues cause major frustrations (due to competitive atmosphere) and have to be fixed in a timely manner.

I wish all developers (and publishers) could be held accountable to higher standard, but it seems like there are very few developers that are willing to put as much effort into releasing a quality product as Blizzard or even Valve. I don't really think developers want to see their game released in such crummy state, but rather the pressure from their publisher is forcing them to release the game early.

I am wondering; playing for a while in a small server I was getting evaporated while in infantry by an Russian Anti-Air vehicle, kinda hard to destroy it with an RPG when it's shots are almost instant deaths. Aren't they going to nerf it? I heard they were buffing them instead.

The patch said they're being nerfed against infantry and armor.
