APB a big fail

I was excited about this game from the trailers and all the hype around this game...So i registered for a beta key and got one...and i actually had the chance to play on one of the closed beta sessions....but pfff this game sux donkey ballz...combat system is so outdated that makes you wonder if we are still in '99 era...graphics are also dated...i can only say that this game it will be a massive fail,like Aion(who also was a very much hyped game and at the release date the server where always full but after 4 months they end up with half of their servers unpopulated)

Anyhow,for anyone who was wondering if this game is any good...i can only tell you that is one of the worst mmo ived play...and ived played alot of mmo's

p.s. btw they use unreal engine and everything ingame looks like its made of plastic

I think the beta is locked on the lowest graphics possible. But yes, i think it will be a flop, from what I have played it is no fun at all.

It looks great to me. Also, you might want to delete this topic, I believe it is against the NDA to talk about the Beta openly like this, they will kick you out of the beta. However, given you don't like the game, it might be for the best, Less people to whine about the game I guess.Ikavnieks

Well iam not going to post any ss...coz i dont want to break the rules...when i signed up i agreed with those rules...there is no reason for my to post ss if Realtime Worlds dont want.

Well if this is true I can't say I'm too surprised. Also I don't see what's wrong with the graphics, it is an MMO after all, good graphics just means a smaller potential community.

Its not as bad as you make it out to be. Ive had fun with it it needs alot of work but Ive still had enough fun to know ill buy it.

I knew it was fail when I saw Paul Barnett talking it up.

Every ss ived sent you is from ingame i only blackout the parts i thought would harm me :D (like my nickname etc)...i didnt sent you ss from buildings,some of them look so bad that you would trow up :D

An yes those rims are that bad...and btw iam playing @1920x1080 maximum details...

Thanks for the screenshots, as for my opinions. I think the graphics are kind of... well... mixed, some parts look really nice, the clothes, most hair stiles etc, although I do agree, some things you pointed out did look bad, but to be honest, I wouldn't have noticed them as they were so small and insignificant.

I'd probably rate the graphics an 8/10 based on the screen shots. The shaders made up for it. Also, your framerate was never below 42, okay, you should be getting way more than that, but I wouldn't scoff at it. Thanks for the screenshots.

I'm getting my new PC in two weeks, and I have a beta key, so I guess I'll see for myself then. Although, if you get 42-51 fps normally, or 35 as you say, I dread to think what I'll get with an ATI 5670.

Well, I just got done playing some of the beta. Its somewhat fun, but nothing I haven't seen before. But, the lag is unbearable. It was hard to do some missions because of the lag that was going on.

It is though. Everyone on the forums has mentioned it...

Haven't played anything else like it. This is something along the lines of The Crossing's concept (Valve and Arkane's game that's MIA since more than two years ago).

Imagine GTA's missions, but with human enemies pitted against you. That's how I'd summarise APB to anyone. That, and a smartly designed city, fantastic customisation and the fact that players will shape the future of game - the community's ideas about settings and missions will be turned to reality by the developers. There are already talks of zombie districts, for example.

But unless first buyers won't be like rhazzy, all this will go to waste. What will launch are only the foundations - the players will shape the gameafterwards. Unless people understand this, APB will be a gigantic flop. And these solid and complex foundations will all go to waste.

Every time we're promised an action MMO that finally does things right, we end up with pure crap. Hence the reason I now plan to avoid all future MMOs - APB included - like the plague.

Yeah I too was extremely excited for the game but then I tried the closed Beta. It was a 4 hour play session, I couldn't even stand playing for 2 hours.

I think the graphics are fine, the customization in the game is great but where is really sucks is the combat, the same repetitive mindless missions (not even kill 10 boars, more like go here and press F) and the horrible driving.

Yeah after playing that beta I was so disapointed. :(

Dude the whole point was to give people a little warning that this game is bad...

Anyhow on yesterday closed session ived played only 20 min....the game is that bad that you cant even play it...

For me the graphics re outdated and it does not justify the 35 fps average that i got running on max @ 1920x1080(not to mention that in really crowded areas ived got under 30 fps)

The gameplay...oh man,its so boring and childish...ALL the quest are:"go here and press F,go there and press F"...

And ofc the main focus of this game...the shooting...picture the GTA IV or SA multiplayer ONLY 10 times worse!!!and we all know how good gta multiplayer is,duh.

An one more thing that i didnt like it ,was the user interface...almost half of my 24 inch monitor was covered with numbers,shout boxes,time display,warning texts,player messages,system messages...and every time someone would login on to the server a text box would appear in the middle of my screen telling me that "Bob19 has logged in to the district...bla..bla...bla",but i guess i could of turn off the user interface from main menu...but i didnt had the will to search for such an option an i quited after 20 min :D

But APB has good things also...like customization...yes at this chapter the game shines.

Same thing happened to me. I was very hyped aboutthe game. Got a BETA key, downloaded it the whole. Didn't pass the test lol (GTX 260 and E8200 aren't enough for it - big fat joke). I thought if it requires that much power it must be extremely beautiful. Alas when I launched the game I understood that I'e only wasted my time. A big big fail. Graphics uglier than those in GTA3. Gameplay as intensive as from a game mde by City Interactive Studios, the sound effects... Well if we remove the included songs - it will be something like Quake II.

So that's about it - a game that looks worse than GTA3 when maxed out and requires Quad-Core in the same time. Have fun!

Seems like you didn't bother to read it as well, mate. Just check out beta gameplay vids and screenshots - they have absolutely nothing to do with the real game. They aren't going to make much just by updating the graphics. They need major changes - like changing the graphic engine maybe? I mean c'mon, it's a MMO so it doesn't have to be beautiful but still it requires a QUAD CORE and it's UGLIER THAN WOW. What's with that? It doesn't make sense to me.Crimsader

So you're upset that the graphics aren't top notch? Who in their right mind would use a taxing graphic engine for an MMO? MMOs are designed for multi-player (multiple players, which means multiple combination of gaming machines) so you have to be able to design a decent looking game that can operate across a wide range of computers.

Maybe the engine they're using isn't the best choice, but the developers must have thought the engine choice they picked made the game look how they wanted it to look and feel. It may not be to your liking, but then again, are all games out there to your liking in the graphic department or is this MMO (one in its beta trial) the only game that looks bad to you?

If you slap out an MMO using, for example, CryEngine2 because it looks good (even when playing on not so high settings and resolution) doesn't mean that it will run well. Even on some of the newer hardware Crysis still chugs along at parts. Building an MMO in this manner would greatly hinder the population that could successfully operate and play the game. MMOs will always be behind in the graphic department to allow functionality for a wide range of PC gamers.

I don't disagree with you that games should be aesthetically pleasing, but we can't have everything in an MMO that we want. You have to take the good with the bad and the bad with the good. Game should also have good controlling, I do agree with you there. But I haven't played the demo of this game so I can't comment on it.

It's good you're trying to make others aware of flaws in a game, but straight up bashing it on the forums is kind of pointless. This seems more like something you should have put in your blog, but I suppose that's just a matter of opinion.

It seems that they are upset the game is extremely demanding and has really horrible graphics, not that it simply has below average graphics. Also, I like what I saw from gameplay videos so I will be getting this regardless of reviews,beta testers, whatever.

I bet you didn't read what he said did you? The game doesn't have an advanced engine it doesn't look that great, this is where you stopped right? well it goes on after that, this "fugly" game has requirements that would benefit games that look a lot better, in short the game needs a way more powerful system than the graphics it displays. This could be part of the "beta" deal but this is not beta material, not even alpha, so I doubt it will change much when they release the final version, this is not a problem that would easily be fixed or a problem that would be fixed if it's still present at this point.

And people need to stop jumping on the pro graphics arguments bandwagon, the gameplay is pretty much garbage, everything feels out of place and it's way too stiff, and it isn't even a real MMO, GTA SA mp is more than two times the MMO APB is with the 500 player servers it has. The problems it has aren't there to be fixed, when a MMO reaches beta all it wants to do is check the server load, server endurance, glitches, bugs, and hardware compatibility issues, they don't plan on doing a total overhaul on the engine optimization or gameplay, so when it comes to those aspects, the game is already a lost cause, but since it will most likely be free it might get a few fans, I mean people play MU or Archlord, there will be people to play APB no matter how bad it is since it isn't an abomination like the other two.
