I have no problems with Origin either. I have Mass Effect Trilogy which meant using Origin. But, there's an option to disable Origin for each game. I like to have my save games on the Cloud though so I can resume from the same exact spot be it on my gaming PC or laptop.
[QUOTE="LongZhiZi"][QUOTE="superclocked"]Oh, I do have one more complaint about Origin. They force you to use an uppercase letter in you password, but then they don't allow any other characters besides letters and numbers. It's like they're saying, we want your password to be kinda secure, but not TOO secure. It makes no sense...superclockedThis is patently false, as I use a character in my password for Origin. Thanks :D I hadn't tried in a while, but I just changed my password, and it let me use special characters this time. Maybe it was just a fluke last time I tried? I don't know, but it's working now... Odd, I don't recall a time when you couldn't, but I didn't get an Origin account until more recently, so maybe I just missed the time period.
I actually don't think it's EA that's preventing their games from being sold on Steam. I think it's Valve preventing that. I can't logically think of any reason why EA would allow Gamefly/Gamersgate/Impulse/everyone else to sell titles that require Origin, but then specifically prevent Steam from selling them. Why offer those other stores a chance at taking a cut of the profits but not Valve? However, I can see a very real reason why Valve would be the one to reject the ability to sell Origin games- they don't want you going to another digital store and having their client on your computer. They want to keep you exclusively using Steam for all games and Origin prevents that. Origin is just a regular digital store and in fact, sells titles that require Steam! The only way I find your argument legitimate (other than merely hating ALL services and wishing you didn't need a client at all) is if you are equally willing to admonish Valve for requiring Steam for its games that are sold on other digital stores. If all of my games were on Origin (hah!) or somewhere else, why is acceptable for Valve to shove an additional client down my throat but not okay for someone else to do the same? I don't find "we were a-holes first!" to be an acceptable answer.like i said, i don't use origin, so i stand corrected. i don't see how this undermines my point though. are these origin only games? because my real issue was more directed at ea for not making their games available through steam (for example) anymore and thus forcing you to get a service that you technically already have, one that most of us already invested time and money in. well if you want to play the games in question of course.
i suppose you have a point with regards to steam for doing exactly the same. fact of the matter however is that they happened to be the first. everyone was using it and happily doing so, but now this has been interrupted. it has been interrupted for reasons that are not our problem. as i've been trying to argue, i think this is not for the good of the gamer, i can relate to the annoyance of the tc and have in a similar line of thought decided that i will not use these other clients.
