How well will my laptop run Bioshock?
Core 2 Duo T7300 @.0 GHz 800MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 Cache
Geforce 8600M GT Turbocache 256 MB (says up to 1024MB)
2 GB DDR2 RAM
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Will my dated comp be able to run Supreme Commander and if so, what will the grafix be liek?
Here's the specs:
1.5gig ddr 400mhz
7600GS (AGP 8x)
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
nForce2 Ultra 400Divine_Dragon02
You can run it, set at the Mid-Level with decent image quality and playable frame rates, as long as you keep the background processes under tight rein.

is that a dell inspiron or an asus g1 by any chance? btw, do you mean 2.0 GHz, 0.0 isnt much, jks.
Edit: I would like to ask if there is a reason for this:
Bioshock demo ran smoothly on the preset settings on my desktop and on my laptop it got mega lag, and i had to turn them onto low and 800x600. got horribe framerate, whereas on desktop it ran fine. Here are the specs
desktop:
pentium 4 2.8ghz, 768mb 667mhz ram (it ran fine even under 1GB), 400w psu, Nvidia GF 7600GS .
Laptop:
core duo @ 1.73 (3.13 Ghz), 1gb ram, Nvidia GF Go 7300.
Would the GPU have that much effect, or did it have something to do with the power supply and motherboard aswell?

I even highly doubt oblivion, once i tried to install it on my old pc, and that one had better specs and it didnt even touch it.
If the writer above asking about the old, obsolete, underpowered, never was a game playing machine, PC with an MX tinker toy in it, is not making a joke about that heap of rust, he should be. MXes will run hardly anything, 2.2 GHz P4s date back five years, RAM at less than 512 MBs goes back possibly longer ago than that (for game systems, anyway), etc.
Incidentally, that claimed VRAM speed is quite obviously bogus (IMO), at 50 % over stock. Here's a comparison of the initial minimum video card named for Oblivion (four times better overall), the Radeon 9500 Pro, versus the stock 440, with clocks of 275 and 200.

hey guys! now i just get couple of old pc from my uncle...so i mix it up. there has 3 pc at the same power.:?
so, what i did want to ask is it there anything will change the power to gaming like it would be more smooth?
well...actually its more kind a server pc but i would have to try it to new games...any
so anyone has suggestion? i know its crappy question to ask.
The 6200 GPU started off with internal defects while running SM 2 codes, was never supported for anything on Oblivion back when it first came out, with some really impossible (FXes) minimums, then nVidia cut the memory system bandwidth in half, and after that, (which I would've already called an "LE" instead of a 6200 A), they came back and made it even worse? No, a 6200 LE will still be slower than a snail plowing through molasses, even on Ultra Extra, ultimately lowest settings.
On the other hand, some 6200 A owners claimed to see improvements from running the Dx8 textures (SM 1) that OldBlivion's Launcher System swaps into place instead of the Dx9 (SM 2) textures. Theoretically, based on the design of the nVidia 6xxx generation of VGAs, that shouldn't help, but a lot of gamers with that terrible graphic card claimed that it did help.
(Edited) Sorry about CoD2. I don't do shooters, but in that one's case, I had the requirements in a comparison list (which is up on my blogging space here). CoD2 has quite generous, back-dated requirements. It's a Dx8 game, not Dx9 at all, and it only wants 64 MBs of VRAM, not 128. If the 6200 A cards really did better in OldBlivion than in the real Oblivion (as noted, that goes against the stated design parameters of the GPU), then it ought to run better in CoD2 than that.

I think you'd be ok with today's games. Im not very good with AMD processors, but im pretty sure what you have is dual-core. if so, you should be fine. You're video card is ok by today's standards and should hold you for a while. The Hard drive may be a bit small to hold many consecutive games, but that isnt that big of a problem, nothing you need to upgrade, but it could be good if you plan on having multiple games on you're ciomputer at once. 1GB of RAM seems to be good for many XP setups, although I prefer two (it is better) one should suffice. In other words, yes, youre system is fine
Hey, I have already done this before but no one replied..
But anyway i was wondering how will my pc run these games low, medium, or high.. My specs are,
-Intel core 2 duo +4400
-2 gig ram(667 Mhz)
-Nvidia GForce 8600 GTDx10 Graphics card
-LG 20x Dvd rewriter
-More then enough space, 250 Gig Seagate Hard drive
And the games are
-Oblivion
-Bioshock
-Supreme Commander
-Stalker
-Gears of war(If it comes on pc)
-Assasins Creed(If it comes on pc)
-NFS Carbon
-Ghost Recon 2

-Crysis (If i put extra 2 gig ram and extra 8600 GTgraphics card)
Thanx all help is appretiated

You should be able to go Oblivion with high, not the highest resolutions but the AA will help.
Bioshock, you could run high but may have to go for 800X600 for res. Or vice versa.
That 2GB will certainly help in Supreme Commander. its a system hog. Yes you can. med high
Stalker yes. Even with dynamic lighting, but some framerate bogged down, but still at a very decent rate
GeOW? Might or might not. The reqs are still not released yet. prolly med high.
Assasins Creed. Should be playable. Im not sure too.
NFS carbon? Of course. The requirements are about the same MW so yes.
Crysis? Believe it or not EA demonstrated recently in Korea that the 8600GT can handle medium settings graphics, and it still looks hot....at a very, very low res. 640X480 to be exact.

OK thanks for the reply dude, i was also planning for making it 2 GB for the RAM, but for the HDD, ithink for nowthat would befine.. by the way your system was awesome.. i hopei can get that kind of specs but were not rich, it will cost a lot of money, thanks again for the reply bro.
do you think that my pc would be able to run crysis at all if i purchased an hd 2600 (or an nvidia8600GT)?
[QUOTE="unit684"]I have an ATI Radeon 9800 pro graphics card and i am fairly sure that it could not cope with crysis but i was wondering whether or not an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics cardwould be the directx 10 equivalent (or higher) of an ATI X1800XT and whetheran AMD Sempron 3200+ processor would be powerful enough?
Kiwi_1
No, an HD 2600 XT may indeed be faster than the old 9800 Pro, but not up to an X1800 any suffix, more like an X1650 XT, instead. Although I am not a big fan of the Sempron CPUs, they are much better than the Celerons they are supposed to compete against. At the 3200+ performance level for a Sempron, that would be like an A64 2900, if there was an A64 in between 2800 and 3000. The set of Crysis Reqs you quoted didn't differentiate between the three A64 interfaces, but the s754 that most Semprons had been used on is less efficient because it can't perform the Dual Channel RAM speedup tricks.
You need a heavier duty GPU if you want an equivalent to what the 9800 Pro was in its day, and the X1800 in its own framework. I think you'll probably squeak by with the Sempron, if you get an HD 2900 XT or the 8800 GTS. (In Edit here) Incidentally, I usually say the equivalent of "phooey" about most of the blather here on GameSpot's Forums when it comes to bottlenecked video cards running on medium quality CPUs, but in your case, with that Sempron, if you do get either of the cards I named, the amount of measureable bottlenecking would be human level sensory system recognizable (most of the time it is only going to be measureable with bench marks, not human perception).
So what's probably the cheapest set up that can run the latest games and has room for expansion later on? I don't know much about PC gaming and I'm planning on getting something to play most of these games, don't want to go over broad on my pockets though.
what do we need to run Quake Wars? I have 1024 mb ram, 7800 ultra graphics (512) and 3.2 ghz pentium 4

Eh.
Was wondering if my comp would be able to play DiRT smoothly, and if you can possibly make a (educated) prediction,Crysis?
I have;
Pentium 4 3.0GHz Hyperthreaded
Sparkle Nvidia GeForce 8600GT PCI-E 16X 512MB
1.75GB RAM
If not, would buying say... a 2.0Ghz core 2 duo make alot of difference? And if I maybe bought.. say.. a 7600GT or 8500GT would that dramatically improve my PC's performance? Thx.
