Hey I'm seriously considering buying this computer! It's a Quad Core and stuff so hopefully it'll be future-proof but anyway, my questions are

1. This comp is fromwww.ibuypower.com has anyone else bought any comps from there? is it a good place or are there others retailers that you recommend?

2. I want to be able to play Crysis, CoD4, etc. on med to high settings. will this comp be able to pull that off? i know the graphics card sux but i'm just putting that crappy one in till the 9000 series comes out. but when i get a better vid card will it be able to handle crysis?

3. My knowledge of computers is pretty limited (so that's why i'm not building one) so do the parts look like they'll work together, power supply be sufficient, etc? i'd hate to have an incompatible mother board, be missing pieces, or anything like that lol

4 For what i'm getting, do you think the price is good?

Thanks in advance! I know i'm asking a lot. here are the system specs and the price (i basically just copied and pasted from the website so there's a lot of info there lol)

iBuyPower = iBuyPoop, avoid them at all costs, get a Dell XPS 410 with 8800GTX,2GB RAM and E6550,that kills ANY and ALL iBuyPoop and CyberPoops.

But you should do some research on computer hardware so you should be able to build your own Rig that kills both the Dell andiBuyPoop and CyberPoop.

Try to add more RAM. 2GB should do it. You're gonna need it, since Crysis will most like test your aging processor there. But your card is still very good friend, may not hold that well against DX10 cards but definitely its still no pushover.

My PC can definitely run Magic the Gathering - Battlegrounds, but I was wondering whether it's really supposed to run so incredibly fast that you can't keep up with the AI casting spells even if you keep hitting the hotkeys.
And it's on the slowest laptop I have around here, an Athlon 1.6 GHz with 512 MB RAM.

VRAM size has no direct relationship to game performance. Core speed and VRAM memory speed, along with memory bandwidth, are what affects performance. Game requirements naming VRAM size is about as useless as power supplies being sold by their wattage.

There is no such CPU, either. For high perfprmance PCs, there is the AMD X2, and the Core2 Duo. You may have a lower level AMD processor named the Sempron, with an M, not an H, in its name.

I'm thinking of getting this Dell XPS 410 but do you think this will max out Oblivion? And how do you think it'll work with Crysis?

Intel Core 2 Q6600

Vista Premium

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz

320GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM)

Thanks that awnsers my question pretty well. Look, i would have been happy to run it with sliders maxed on 640*420! or somthing like that. With the 1280 by 1024 resolution and the sliders maxed, what FPS would i get in forested areas? Thanks

i have xp athlon 64 dual core 3800+ 2ghz a gb of ram and nvidia 7300le. i bought the hitman triple pack and have just finished hitman 2 silent assassin and started contracts. i thought i would be able to max out contracts because the requirements arent very high ( recommended: 256 ram 1.6ghz). however it plays jerkily on any higher than 800*600 and even slightly jerky on that. its very irritating, i already know that the 7300 is rubbish but surely it can play contracts? im worried because i want to play blood money as well. could someone help? is there any way i can optimize my systems performance?

I currently play Bioshock with a geforce 7600gt and 512mb RAM

All low settings.

Would 1gig get me up to at least medium settings smooth fps? Or should I go with 2gig, Id prefer to get just 1gig to be honest...

How well will my laptop run Bioshock?

Core 2 Duo T7300 @.0 GHz 800MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 Cache

Geforce 8600M GT Turbocache 256 MB (says up to 1024MB)

2 GB DDR2 RAM

Sammojo

is that a dell inspiron or an asus g1 by any chance? btw, do you mean 2.0 GHz, 0.0 isnt much, jks.

Edit: I would like to ask if there is a reason for this:

Bioshock demo ran smoothly on the preset settings on my desktop and on my laptop it got mega lag, and i had to turn them onto low and 800x600. got horribe framerate, whereas on desktop it ran fine. Here are the specs

desktop:

pentium 4 2.8ghz, 768mb 667mhz ram (it ran fine even under 1GB), 400w psu, Nvidia GF 7600GS .

Laptop:

core duo @ 1.73 (3.13 Ghz), 1gb ram, Nvidia GF Go 7300.

Would the GPU have that much effect, or did it have something to do with the power supply and motherboard aswell?

sorry my bad, yeah 2.0 Ghz. Its an acer aspire 5920G

no there is almost no difference in bioshock with 512mb to 1 gig. i think its probably your processor holding you back

PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT AT US !

That's what all caps amounts to, besides being too hard to read. An 8500 GT is a bad joke, and the 512 MBs of RAM on it is a total SCAM. Too bad, you should've done your homework first before wasting the money.

Nope. It's my opinion that you are either totally unable to make an accurate assessment of your total trash piece of garbage video card, or you are trying to make a bad joke here, or this could be an attempt to TROLL with boldly untruthful assertions.

Do gamers think Visat is a problem? I wouldv't thought not - it includes directx10 - only avaible in Vista and can make use of more than 3 gigs of ram - which is XPs limit. All pc gaming rigs should be looking to cram in the ram :) and windows vista is the only real option.

I looked into the Alky Project, which is trying to put the directx10 into XP - and it looks to be taking longer than expected, certainly longer than it would take for me to wait. A high end rig running vista and perhaps 4 gigs and a decent Graphics card and cpu will rock for years to come.

I was a little nervous about getting vista, but I reckon its what gaming rigs (real ones) are for.

I would have thought that the game Crysis will run on most systems - but dual and quad cores with a medium range grahpics card as minimum. There's nothing wrong with this system, but (although its my personal taste) all gaming pcs should run with around 2 gigs of ram - anything more is a bonus
