The Orange Box asked for a minimal graphics card of Level 8 and recommended card of level 9. I have never heard of graphics cards referred to as such. Does that mean if I have a GeForce 6600, that would be level 6?

[QUOTE="VRN-KingS-"][QUOTE="PooMaster"][QUOTE="PooMaster"]I was wondering what settings/if i could run it, crysis on.
I have core 2 T5500 @ 1.66ghz, 2gb ram, radeon mobility x1700 graphics.
I can run games like oblivion, fear, cod2, UT3!etc on full and bioshock on very high.
thanks

*Cough* *Cough* Sorry but i find that hard to believe. a 1.6gig CPU with a mere Mobility card? Well unless that card is above the standard 128/256mb as most usually are I find it very hard to believe that.
I have a p4 3.06HT CPU, 1.5gig ram, and a 128 PCI-e Geforce 7200 that can only just push Medium on those games....
Personally, I doubt that either one of you is using the same basis for a definition of "High" as I would, but the first of the two of you being a laptop user most especially. That doubt is engendered by each of you failing to name the screen sizes and the resolutions. A 7200 being total crap is of course my reason for saying you would only get good animation speed with 640 by 480 screen resolution. The X1700 is ten times as good of a video card that a lousy 7200 is, even when it's Mobile. A 7200 has to be on Ultra Low for Oblivion with anything better than 1024 by 768, it's so awful.
Now, then, let's see how comparatively poorly a P4 compares to a Core 2 Duo, shall we? Here's a Tom's Hardware chart with the P4 way down in the lousy territory:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=890&model2=882&chart=444
Haha. I was gonna say something about the 7200 owner, but your explanation is much more funnier.
Athlon 6000+
GeForce 8800GTX
4GB RAM
How well will this system run the following games:
1) Oblivion;
2) Two Worlds;
3) STALKER;
4) Bioshock?

I really don't know, but if you have a 6600GT you'll run most games on high @ 1024x768 and Medium/High @ 1440x900

I'd bet, without seeking clarification from the publisher, it refers to Pixel Shader capability, hardware that can perform Dx8 is only able to reach SM-1, while Dx9 capable cards (hardware, not software) can all reach SM-2, and those for Dx9c can do SM-3 shaders. The Vanilla 6600 is seriously slow and weak, but handles all of Dx9c.
If not that, it could be "800" and "900" cards from the performance numbers in the names, such as 7800 and X1800 for "8" and 7900 and X1900 for "9", which I really doubt would be the case.
Im a seriouse noob and I have upgraded my pc for gaming FINALLY lol but ive only made minor upgrades for certain games, can my pc run Half Life 2? Halo? Fable?
Pentium(R) 4CPU 3.00GHz
1.5 GB DDR2RAM
GeForce 8400 Gs 256MB
is this pretty good for running these games smooth?
Dudes, I can't believe my PC is actually running BIOSHOCK after all the hype that it is supposed to be resource hungry.
I bought it with the aim to play the game when I upgrade to the recommended spec, but with my current PC:
Intel Pentium D925m 3.0GHz
2GB DDR2667MHz Corsair
XFX 7600GT XXX Edition 256MB
X-Fi Fatal1ty
And it runs smooth. Although I can't make use of the DX10 feature.

your PC is fine. I wouldn't upgrade untill Vista has established itself.

Correct I can run Obliv on Medium on Res of 800x600 at a FPS of 10ps in a city.
FEAR is Medium at 640x480
I am going to buy a new computer. Is it possible for me to play newer games ( Gears Of War PC version, Bioshock, Lost Planet, games like those ) with the following specs?
AMD Athlon 64 AM2 X2 5000 2,6 Ghz 1MB
HDD WD 320GB 8MB SATA II 7200Rpm WD3200JS
2048mb 667mhz DDR
Nvidia 7200GS 28M/512Mb ( or XFX 512Mb 8600GT 540Mhz, which is better? I think the 8600 one ).
Thanks in advance!
Processor: Intel(R) CORE (TM)2 CPU 4400 @2.00GHZ 2.00GHZ
MEMORY 1024GB
SYSTEM TYPE 32-BIT OPERATING SYSTEM
gRAPHICS CARD:512 mb with 7100GS, (NVIDIA GeForce)
Can I play shadowrun with the above specification. I have windows vista
1. A proper Dx9 video card is required. None of the FXes handle SM2 properly because of a totally nonstandard Pixel Shader.
2. 512 MBs of RAM is the stated minimum, but that little doesn't work well. A full GB is actually needed.
3. A Sempron is relatively weak for gaming compared to an A64 or X2, but yours "might" be OK, after you replace the GPU and add another 576 MBs of RAM.
From a game-playing point of view, a 7200 anything is total crap, and an 8600 GT is a relatively decent Mid-Level card that is in the most popular (for gaming) price range. There has been a major gap in the performance levels of nVidia's 8xxx cards, such that the 8800 GTS is in the lower part of the High Quality range, while the 8600 GT sat more or less in the middle of Medium Quality. The new 8800 GT is supposed to plug that large gap, and potentially replace the 7600 GT as a top performance to price video card (the 7600 GT is/ was faster among 7xxx cards than the 8600 GT is among 8xxx cards). Kiwi_1
Em, Mr Kiwi, a question here.
there will be a new 8800GT?
Also, what category does my card fall into? Is it a mid end, or a weaker high end compared to those godly GTX and Ultra?
I went to systemrequirementslab.com, and it said I can't runUT 2004: because I have Windows Millenium Edition.Yet it says it can run 98/ME/XP/Vista. Can someone tell me if the site's messed up, or something?Harden_hawk
Sites messed up.
My friend plays UT2k4 on ME. If you are unsure dig out a demo of it, theres LOADS floating on the Internet, and most decent PCmags like PCGamer/PCformat have hosted it on their discs.
Any problems run it in compatability mode for 98.
Hi,
My pc specs: E6700 core 2 duo,1GB corsair xms pro(2 x 512mb),XFX geforce 7600 GT,hiper type R 530w PSW,seagate 250gb hdd,asrock dual vista motherboard.
I built this pc from scratch on bit of a tight budget so i spent the majority of my budget on the cpu as at the time i was waiting for newer dx 10 cards to come out.
I plan on upgrading the ram,Motherboard and gfx after christmas, money is tied up in presents.
But i was hoping i could play games like crysis at an ok level of detal, not very high just medium to low.
Thanks for any answers.
Im quite new to pc gaming only been playing for over 1 year now, i know roughly what are the best cards etc and im very handy when building fixing pc's.
I was just hoping on some suggestions for my upgrades, gfx card, mobo and ram, money not a problem really after the new year i plan to go all out and have it top of the range i may even buy a new cpu if the E6700 is not up to the job of running games at max level.
What would you guys reccomend, and can i expect any new hardware on the market after new year.

Hi all, I was wondering if someone might be able to help me here. I want to play Crysis on high settings but I'm not sure how well my PC would handle it. The specs are 2gb ram, 2x8800GTS 640mb connected in SLI Core 2 duo E6700 2.66ghz all running under Vista 64bit. Im putting another 2gb ram in soon so Im hoping that will help.vincenthighwind
You disgust me. Please tell me you aren't seriously asking if you can run it on high or not. I can w/o a problem.

You know it's just someone who is either bragging or fantasizing, and has an ego problem, so wanted to see his electronic name posted in this thread. Don't be disgusted, offer pity to the poor beknighted fellow !

ey guyz u didnt answer me XD
my SPECS:

2GB RAM
RADEON HD 2900XT PRO (1GB)(GDRR4)(512bit)
can i play:
crysis¿?
gears of war¿?
bioshock¿?
world in conflicrt¿?
¿all in high quality?
queonda
No it cant. You need a pentium 2, and 256 of RAM to run crysis. Geforce 4 would run it best.
Hello?
People dont answer your post mainly because it obviously can, and you're just annoying most people out there posting this. Cmon, quad core? OF COURSE.
Hi to all! Pls see my system specs in signature. Now I know that my system can and does run Quake 4 on my Intel 945G onboard graphics, but i somehow can't get ETQW[demo] to even start for the first time. The console shows up saying that Error during initialization and tells me that some OpenGL xtensions are missing. Also, if I scroll up to the begging of the console, I see this:
Detected
2 1.86 GHz CPU
1520 MB of System memory
256 MB of Video memory on an optimal video architecture
This system qualifies for High quality!
Well, my current system without the 6600 should qualify for low quality! Thats it I guess! If I could somehow get ETQW to detect my system as low quality, it would ren, won't it? Pls tell me how to do that! Tahnk you very much for your time!
I wanted to quote from the immediate last message, but the idiot software on GameSpot says I'm cross-quoting !
The 6600 Vanilla card was always weak to be carrying a "600" as a performance number, especially compared to its bigger brother, the 6600 GT (but the same thing applies to ATI's X600, of course). By now, IMO, the 6600 Vanilla is in the low quality group with the Geforce 8500 cards.
I want to know if I can run Crysis with Vista. I'm planning to install Vista on my new laptop I got from Alienware but a friend of mine said that it wouldn't run, I just want to know if he's right and I have to stick to XPor if I could still run it with Vista.
My Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.16 Ghz
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHzRAM
120 GB HDD
24x DVD-ROM/CD-RW Burner
512MB NVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX

You probably can, but you wont be able to utilise Dx10.
