Do you know if I will be able to run Fury on a Radeon 9200? I don't care if it's on the lowest settings.eskimoman150

Nope. It says "9600 or better", and that 9200 is MUCH WORSE than a 9600.

http://mmostrategyguides.com/system_requirements_-_fury.html

You could've looked that up as easily as I just did.

You need to study what the real PC component list is all about before buying PC games, so you have some idea why they won't work. System Memory is one kind of RAM, and a Gigabyte of it is standard these days for game players' machines.

If you really only have 256 MBs of memory, trying to play a new game is just a joke.

The single most important part of a game machine is the video card (and video chips don't count), but you don't even seem to know if you have one or not. The standard for the onboard VRAM builkt into out video cards has been 128 to 256 MBs over the current year, with the high performance cards offering the ability to use even more, at very high resolutions.

So, you need to buy this, and study the hardware coverage before your next trip to GameStop.

The casheir at Target ripped off the plastic and all before I even left the store. I blame him, I didn't know!

Also, does my loss of RAM disable my computer from even regignizing the disk? Thats why I bought it twice...

Personally, I won't try to answer any more than I have done, based on the (probable) incomplete systems specifications named so far. There are differences between PCs that vary by their age and their cost, and I don't think you know enough now to buy a game suitable for the PC you have, let alone to properly list the hardware you have.

TTBOMK, it means you cannot run Dx8 Shader Model One in hardware, which is required by the game. What isn't said, is that the chip in question is slower than a snail, so software emulation would be still slower than that. You need a real video card from a real 3D company for that game, not a tinker toy from Intel.

Thanks for the reply, as a High-End PC builder and Hardware System supporter, my PC is far from "Hi-Tech". But... It's cool to know that my PC is still worth something. ;)

I just finished building a Core2Duo E6850, 4GB DDR1066, 8800Ultra with 2x 1TB HDD, now THAT is almost Hi-Tech LOL!

I hope to upgrade soon (Except my soundcard of course)

There are two Radeon X1650 versions. Both are Mid-Level Quality, and both compare relatively well against the two Geforce 7600 cards. The Pro has about the same performance as a 7600 GS, and the XT is on a par with, and in many benches, slightly ahead of, the 7600 GT, but it's not usually priced as competitively, and so is not as good of a value. None of those four are "poor" cards, although none can run much of anything with high graphical settings unless the resolution is suppressed somewhat (there are also a couple of nice 7600 GTs that come from the producers already overclocked).

It should be noted that if the highest resolution that your display can handle is 1280 by 1024, both the X1650 Pro and the 7600 GT can be set to a medium-"High" graphical quality. For some sense of comparability, resolution should alway be referenced with mention of settings ("Max" isn't the same at all at 1024 by 768 as it would be at 1600 by 1200, and far, FAR too many times we have messagers here giving each other wildly inaccurate impressions of the situation regarding games' image quality).

Well to be honest my PC sucks: P4G8x motherboard, P4D 2.8 Ghz with 1 GB ram, Ati Radeon 9200 SE (yeah i know.. WTF) and 40 GB hard disk drive. It should not be a surprise (the low ranked parts and the machines performance) however i can play some (well almost all) new games that keep coming these resent years. With the Exception of Command and Conqueror (the damn graphic accelerator is too damn old) other games are played with 15 fps at a time :D so i could say i am pretty happy. However, i am buying a new configuration this winter: Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4 Mb cash memory, SLI mother board with dual GeForce 8800 GT's, 2 GB's of ram and 250 Serial ATA hard drives. I hope that will be enough to keep me running in the next 2 years ;)

hey dudes i was just wondering how to measure your fps. could someone please enlighten me?

i know this is a bit off topic but this should only take a moment. i want to get a new graphics card and have been looking at frame rates in games i want to play. i know that i could just ask someone what is a good frame rate, but i would prefer to do it myself and be sure.

cheers

I wouldnt bet on it. Geforce GO's are only ever used in Laptops and some Mac systems are are a "Lite" version of the Personal Computer variety.

TBH Im surprised it was "OK" on Bioshock I Run a 3.06 HT P4, 1.5g Ram (DDR2 466hz), with a 256Geforce 6700 PCI-e Gfx.
It refused to work properly. Overly dark, reflections did not perform correct and managed a poor 10fps spiking to a drop of 5fps at heavy scenes.

Like quite a few people I had the chance to have a quick play on the open beta for Hellgate London. It crippled my machine.
Bioshock is offline remember where as HG:L Is online, the online function can drain your system resources.

Your best bet is to hunt for a "14 Day Trial" Or similar in magazines like PCGamer or PCZone and try it out. I wouldnt think it likely to work.

Self Build If Possible. Self builds these days are nothing more than "click n place." The days of soldering in parts are long gone.

Look online for your own parts. If youre not too experienced Id suggest looking online for a "Barebones" PC. These usually have a motherboard inside with the ports all configured with sound adapters etc but theres no RAM, CPU, GFX etc so you can customise.

For a cheap hardrive Id recommend a 250gig Seagate West 7200rpm silent - Can be found online for around £50-60 ($100-$120), and graphics wise go for nothing lower than a 256mbGeforce 7800, if you want higher dont bother with anything after the Geforce7900OC (Overclocked), unless you intend on shelling out for a 128/256mb Geforce 8800 there isnt much gain per pound.

for reccomended, I've seen that crysis should have the optimal settigns under a GeForce 8800..but for required, all i've gotten as a result is "256 mb" card..but i wanna know if it can run crysis decently.

My video card(s) is x2 SAPPHIRE Radeon X1650PRO 256MB (runnning in crossfire mode)

an amd atholon x2 6000 processor

2 gigs of ram

all on the XP Os

I know my cards are basically "budget gamer" cards, but i figured they should stand up to at least this year's tests..ust how well is the question... i mean i was kinda pissed it couldn't run at 1280 x 1024...but it runs in 1280 x 768 amazingly, gamesl ike battlefield 2142, ut2004, even f.e.a.r & bioshcok (bioshock at highest settings) runs well. So if anyone knows if this'll work decently for crysis, let me know. Otherwise, i'll just invest in ureal tournament 3 first

Made from dell's website:

Inspiron 531:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs

250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst CacheTM

48X CD-RW/ DVD Combo Drive

256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT-DDR3

Good enough to run gears and crysis on low?

Good news. You can go medium. I once saw a vid of a guy testing crysis in an EA convention in Korea on a rig similar to yours........at a very low res.

GEars...well, i dunno since they've yet to release a spec req, but i heard the game is very well optimised, so heres hoping.

Here is a Toms Hardware benchmark (Prey) for the two kinds of 64 bit AMD 3000+ CPUs to verify that a Sempron 64 has a 17 % debit compared to an A64:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=954&model2=946&chart=425

So if there had been such an A64 as a "2500", that's what the Sempron 2800 would've been comparable to (and in turn, to an old P4 running at 2.5 GHz). Semprons are not intended for the gaming market, but as budget parts to compete with Celerons. An S462 Sempron (32 Bit) 2800 is worse than the newer part, in spite of the performance numbers being at the same point.

Assassin's Creed isn't released yet, so there is no official System Requirement summary. The other one hasn't impinged on my own personal radar. The PC version of A.C. is still so far in the distance ( 1Q of 2008 ) that no estimates of the requirements exist:

Assasins Creed is worth getting straight off, Id wait for Kane & Lynch if I were you though.

Asides from having two main characters the ability to tagteam and such its a bogstandard shooter/action. Not worth the new release price of £40

*Cough* *Cough* Sorry but i find that hard to believe. a 1.6gig CPU with a mere Mobility card? Well unless that card is above the standard 128/256mb as most usually are I find it very hard to believe that.

I have a p4 3.06HT CPU, 1.5gig ram, and a 128 PCI-e Geforce 7200 that can only just push Medium on those games....

Personally, I doubt that either one of you is using the same basis for a definition of "High" as I would, but the first of the two of you being a laptop user most especially. That doubt is engendered by each of you failing to name the screen sizes and the resolutions. A 7200 being total crap is of course my reason for saying you would only get good animation speed with 640 by 480 screen resolution. The X1700 is ten times as good of a video card that a lousy 7200 is, even when it's Mobile. A 7200 has to be on Ultra Low for Oblivion with anything better than 1024 by 768, it's so awful.

Now, then, let's see how comparatively poorly a P4 compares to a Core 2 Duo, shall we? Here's a Tom's Hardware chart with the P4 way down in the lousy territory:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=890&model2=882&chart=444

I dont know but to be honest im a bit disapointed of the new gen vid cards. cose i think a card that costs 350+ dollars should run any game at at least 40fps in 1024*768 with max details, but its not the case so i think a 8800GTSCANT run crysis in 1024*768 on high so the new generation of dx 10 cards are CRAP, thats what i think allthough i got a 8800GTS ! :D
