TweakTown review of Nvidia GTX 670...

So it's near a 680 and cost less? Nice.

According to that review, it would seem so...Looking forward to what this card will be in trems of price/performance once it's been released.

How much will the GTX 670 cost? If it's a lot cheaper than the GTX 680 then it will make it pretty much worthless to buy a GTX 680 for just 2-3% difference in framerate.

Probably in the low-high 400 bucks range.

Well it performs close to a 7970. If they want to take away sales from the 7970 they just need to price it a bit lower than 450USD.

When has nvidia ever undercut AMD? I don't see that happening. I hope its in that range, but I'm not counting on it.

They may not, but this would be the generation to do it. Their 600-series parts are packing way less transistors than the competing AMD models, and are presumably less expensive to produce.

Well when the GTX 680 released it was 50USD cheaper than the 7970. The 8800gt was only a bit more expensive than the 3870 while performing much better than it.

One thing's for sure. If Nvidia releases this GPU at a good price point, like $400-$430, it will mean good things for us consumers. AMD would be forced to do another round of price cuts.

And that increases competition, so we all win in the end.:D 670 is so tempting but I must stick with that slighty better gpu, for now.:P

I wonder if anyone would buy a GTX 680 then. I know I wouldn't want to pay 70-100USD more for a 2-3% increase in framerate. They should also lower the price of the GTX 680 to around 30USD higher than that of the price of the 670. So maybe 450USD for the GTX680 and 420USD for the GTX 670. Then release the GTX 685 which is the true GTX 680 and price that at 550USD. As of now the GTX 670 seems way too close to the performance of the GTX 680. So the price shouldn't be much cheaper.

Isn't the GTX 670 basically a GTX 580 ? Buy a used GTX 580 or one on sale and save yourself some money.

DeViLzzz

Really? It's stronger than than that and is around a 7970/680 if that 1st benchmark is any indication. Plus dat 2GB VRAM!

No. The 670 is very different from the 580. It uses the Kepler architecture, is faster, has more VRAM, and uses less power.

If the 412USD price tag is true and the benchmarks are correct then the GTX 680 is going to be dying out.

Nope the GTX 670 is only slightly weaker than a GTX 680 judging by the benchmarks released.

I wonder why the GTX 670 can perform so close to the GTX 680. I would like to see some benchmarks with both at stock clocks. Seems the only ones I can find are for the OC version of the GTX 670.

It makes perfect sense. An OC'd GTX 570 could match or surpass a reference GTX 580.

I'm always hearing people complain that Intel is "price gouging" people with their chips...

I just don't see it.

I can go buy a i5 2500k, basically the best gaming CPU on the planet, for $199. This is less expensive than AMD offerings that perform worse in most game applications.

I got my i7 930 two years ago when it was a top of the line chip (and still rapes anything I throw at it) for $199.

Sure, you can spend a grand on a CPU if you want to. You can go buy a Bugatti Veyron to go grocery shopping if you want to.

Is it an option? Sure

Is it remotely necessary? Nope

Every industry on the planet offers extremely high-end options for their respective products for those few individuals who MUST have the absolute best.

It's not "gouging"...it's just smart business.

If there were no AMD, that 2500k would be a 6GHz single core 65nm pentium 4 derivative. ANd it would cost 600 dollars.

AMD will have no choice but to cut prices again. Who would buy a 7950 @ nearly the same price as a 670 or pay more for the 7970, unless they plan to use them for computing? At the same time though, Nvidia has kind of screwed themselves if the leaked benchmarks and prices on the 670 hold up come mass release. Why bother paying extra for the 680 with such close performance?

Welcome to the light side man, once this is out you'll live happily more.

FYI Amazon has the best customer support Ive ever seen. I called at 7 PM for an RMA. It arrived the next afternoon. I called again for another RMA and they offered a full refund. The guy was like "if you've had two that didn't work, don't get another one. Just get your money back. We are Amazon. We take care of you."

Im buying all of my stuff from them from now on.

Man I bought a 7870 a month ago. That thing was such a nightmare. Freezing up my computer. Terrible drivers. I am so glad that I got a refund.

I normally buy my PC parts from amazon as well.:D My fav online store.
