When has nvidia ever undercut AMD? I don't see that happening. I hope its in that range, but I'm not counting on it.

They may not, but this would be the generation to do it. Their 600-series parts are packing way less transistors than the competing AMD models, and are presumably less expensive to produce.

One thing's for sure. If Nvidia releases this GPU at a good price point, like $400-$430, it will mean good things for us consumers. AMD would be forced to do another round of price cuts.

No. The 670 is very different from the 580. It uses the Kepler architecture, is faster, has more VRAM, and uses less power.

It makes perfect sense. An OC'd GTX 570 could match or surpass a reference GTX 580.

Right now I'm pretty glad I returned my pos HD7870 "BSOD--freeze up my whole computer because of crappy drivers" machine.

In all seriously competition is always good so hopefully AMD can string this around before Nvidia Price Gouges us and pull's an Intel.

I just don't see it.

I can go buy a i5 2500k, basically the best gaming CPU on the planet, for $199. This is less expensive than AMD offerings that perform worse in most game applications.

I got my i7 930 two years ago when it was a top of the line chip (and still rapes anything I throw at it) for $199.

Sure, you can spend a grand on a CPU if you want to. You can go buy a Bugatti Veyron to go grocery shopping if you want to.

Is it an option? Sure

Is it remotely necessary? Nope

Every industry on the planet offers extremely high-end options for their respective products for those few individuals who MUST have the absolute best.

It's not "gouging"...it's just smart business.

AMD will have no choice but to cut prices again. Who would buy a 7950 @ nearly the same price as a 670 or pay more for the 7970, unless they plan to use them for computing? At the same time though, Nvidia has kind of screwed themselves if the leaked benchmarks and prices on the 670 hold up come mass release. Why bother paying extra for the 680 with such close performance?

Man I bought a 7870 a month ago. That thing was such a nightmare. Freezing up my computer. Terrible drivers. I am so glad that I got a refund.

FYI Amazon has the best customer support Ive ever seen. I called at 7 PM for an RMA. It arrived the next afternoon. I called again for another RMA and they offered a full refund. The guy was like "if you've had two that didn't work, don't get another one. Just get your money back. We are Amazon. We take care of you."

Im buying all of my stuff from them from now on.
