"In what could be a huge surprise, some one with a retail copy of PC version has spotted a new graphical setting. We know that currently Crysis sports three graphics settings on the PC.

  • Gamer
  • Advanced
  • Hardcore

This was also a reason for disappointment because there was hardly any difference between Advanced and Hardcore setting. However, this new mode called extreme seems to take it a notch higher for people with high end machines. PC version was always going to be the best, now it's just proved aswell. Crytek have redeemed themselves and PC gamers would be pleased to know this.

There are also rumors of a maximum extreme graphics setting on PC but we're yet to confirm this,we'll update you as we get more leads regarding that. Stay tuned.

Crysis 2 releases next week and our reviewers are already hard at work, we'll have the review up for you soon."

But I want custom graphics settings like the 1st.:P

Update: Screens, of Good, Very Good and Extreme.

Good

Very Good:

Extreme:

I notice a difference in FPS.=p

Why are there not custom graphics settings like almost every other PC game? They even consolized that?

Cool... The guy takes a screenshot of the settings but not of the game  FUUUUUUU!!!!!

I guess it proves also that we are stuck with those dumb 4 graphical options, no options for shadows, textures, aa etc.

Have we got screens of the game in Extreme?

I hope that's not all of the graphical options...

Either way, this means nothing to me without in-game pictures.

No custom graphics settings? That is so stupid, I was hoping they would add them in for the final release. Then again, this wouldn't be that hard to photoshop.....

There were PC games that are like that that I played with no custom graphics settings, though not that many, and they were on consoles as well.=p

Saw on Neogaf that they renamed the three settings. It's exactly the same as in the demo.

As long as it's well optimized for both AMD and Nvidia GPU's. Dragon Age 2's DX11 Very High till this day is still broken for most Nvidia users. It's pointless and they might as well take it out altogether.

They should at least showcase one or two gameplay footages of Crysis 2 maxed out. I mean, the game is coming out in a few days. Wouldn't that be the smart thing to do? Or is this part of their "no hype" plan? Because if anything, they're only hyping up the game even more by all their actions lately, or lack there of. :P

Off-topic: As for Dragon Age 2, I'm not expecting a fix. I just play it on DX11 High, SSAO, High-res texture enabled. The difference between High and Very High DX11 is really the lighting, which I like but it's not bothersome at all. I know I sound pessimistic but I don't have any faith in them to fix this one.

I do not understand this thought process from Crytek too apart from wanting to screw over pc gamers. No advanced settings, only locked presets if that happens to be the case then they have truly gone bonkers. Thats just shooting themselves in the foot.

Pics or it didn't happen.:P

I remember a while back that the higher end requirements are pretty odd:

Crysis 2 Optimum System Requirements

CPU: Intel Core i5 3.1Ghz, AMD Phenom II X6 1055T or better
GPU: NVidia GTX 560 Ti, ATI 6850 or Dual graphics cards
RAM: 4GB
DX: 11
Shader: 4.0
OS: Windows 7
Frame Rate Target: 30fps@1920x1200

And the funny thing is full retail game has already been leaked on both hd consoles before release but not pc just the incomplete beta version and with the over whelming negative feedback on the mp demo on all 3 platforms i wonder how well it will do i would laugh my ass off if it sold less then crysis 1 .

So no custom settings? So if my gtx460 at extreme is lingering between playable and unplayable i cant just turn shadows or shaders or post processing a level down and become playable and instead have to go to hardcore settings? Yeah thanks but no Crytek. I bought both Crysis and Crysis Warhead at launch but not this time ( probably gonna pick it on bargain bucket )

With it's predecessor being the graphics king for a while, one would expect a lot more.... at least a step forward instead of back. Crysis 3's will probably have only 2 options: A) 720p B) 1080p :P

Dude that's what all of us PC gamers want...custom graphics settings. Why in the world would you limit it to just 4 settings? It makes no sense. All we can now hope is that extreme will look a lot better. But judging from what happened before with hardly and difference between Advanced and Hardcore, I have my doubts. What happened to you Crytek?

Go back and re-read the article: Update: The new extreme setting is infact the previously known hardcore setting. They changed the names of the graphic settings, its now good, very good and extreme. In other words, there's nothing new to see here folks, it's the same exact thing we saw in the demo. And really, even if they were new settings no one should have been getting excited until we saw screenshots.

Well the difference between low and high isn't too much, extreme being the 4th option very high shouldn't make too much of a difference. We'll see though.

I think the image compression is playing tricks on your eyes. There's no reason a mistake like that would be made if this were Photoshopped.
