personally i think HL2. doom 3 is too dark to see the graphics. and even though i dont like the style of it. shaded pixelated and all. hl2 just looks better to me.

Doom 3 is much much better, on my friends computer there is NO JAGGIES! even when you are in the darkest areas, dont get me wrong though HL2 is some of the best ive ever seen.

Half Life 2 is a better game, but Doom 3 has better graphics.

Doom 3 for sure. They made the game going for awesome graphics while HL2 also added their physics system and such which probably took away from the graphic power a little. Just my opinion.

With Doom 3 on ultra and HL2 on all highest settings with AF and AA all the way, HL2 looks better imo.

Half Life 2 is definitely the better looking game.

Doom III may be the more powerful engine from a technical standpoint and pusing polycount, but what good is it when the game is so dark most of the way through you can't even see most of the environment.

i'dd say hl2 doesn't look good really. Doesn't even have damn bump mapping!!!!.

I think Far cry as of now looks the best and its not a new game either

HL2 has REAL TEXTURES! That's a new one for the Doom 3 fanboy's memo book. Oh, the HL2 graphics are actually better, even though iD flaunts around with their fancy-pants graphics, the HL2 graphics are better detailed and are a lot more cinematic. Honestly, iD fanboys around the world probably crapped themselves when the Source engine turned up on their doorstep ;).

Doom3 - best graphics, although it really doesn't push its capabilities to the fullest (i really don't get that crap about not bein able to see the environment)

HL2 - while not as shiny, larger areas, fantastic water effects, realistic textures, remarcable use of its potencial

Farcry - outdated IMO; when on the outside it does great things with large areas, but in the inside, the difference in graphics quality is quite drastic. and i find the animations to be floaty and unconvincing; even MOHPA has much better animations for characters

At least HL2s graphics work for every environment you can name! Doom 3's work for some corridors and a snippet of the martian surface; that's it. BOOOOOOORING! play HL2 on a high end system and you can really appreciate how beautiful the graphics are, and wtf is that about it having no bump-maps? It uses bump-maps in moderation, where they are actually needed, unlike Doom 3 which ridiculously covers itself with 'em. Explosions in HL2 are very very nicely handled and corpses dont just vaporise in a puff of red gas, they conform to the environment sensibly and realistically with some nice blood going everywhere . . . I could go on for a list of what's better in HL2 than Doom 3, but then I realised it wouldn't stop; HL2 is the best PC game ever, end of story. Now get back to the graphics . . .

if you have a crappy video card hl2 looks better, if you have a good video card doom 3 looks better, though the water in hl2 is awesome either way

noo far cry is the easiest to run on high settings

but doom 3 is cool cause even if u have a sucky computer ( i had an mx440 and 512 ram ) it still looks cool

What are you talking about? IMO HL2 has atrocious textures. Even on the highest setting w/ a direct x 9 card the textures are still blocky a gross (plus they cause stuttering on some systems.) Other than that HL2 looks more subtle, whereas Doom 3 has very over-the-top lighting effects and such. It really all depends upon taste. But honestly, I think far Cry looks the best (excluding the plasticy-looking water.)

FEAR: (if it was out yet)
BF2: Not at first site the best looking but after a little whiel of seeing it in action and lookin at how much detail and stuff is in ever part of the huge levels its up there
Doom3:not the best desighn in the wrold but its a looker from start to finish
HL2:very good artworks and engine we have yet to see a engine play as well as source and look as good very well made

Those arnt in any real order..other good lookin games are like Far cry, splinter cell 3, and you know stuff

now doom 3 runs very well on lower end stuff i ran it at high settings with my p4 3.6ghz, 9600xt at 1280x768 very well and high 1280x1024 on my 9800pro

HL2, has the best graphics of any current game. Doom 3 - all the models look like they are made of wax. And with the new HL2 lighting effects that are coming, HL2 will look even better.

Half-Life 2. Doom 3 looks like plastic. I'm not saying D3 looks bad, because it doesn't, it's just that some of the textures look plasticy.
