Half-Life 2, most capable engine.. It is the only shooter to date I have seen with HEAVY action going on with NO noticable lag from it.. Not other recent shooter has shown such large scale action such as multiple strider battle with dozens of soldiers, with the amount of explosions physics going around.. It is a all around aweosome engine.. And thats why I think source should be used more often for being versatile in being able to do wide open enivroments, closed enviroment, natural effects such as water or steam, large scale battles, worth while physics that become part of the game (gary's mod gives proof...)..
It is the most versatile engine I have seen in a long time, pretty much able to do anything you can throw at it..
Games such as FEAR were closed off having very few large scale battles (though they looked beatiful)... Who knows it could be a lag fest when it comes to wide open enviroments with tons of soldiers on screen..
i'dd say hl2 doesn't look good really. Doesn't even have damn bump mapping!!!!.
I think Far cry as of now looks the best and its not a new game either
Hatred_basic
