I don't know if anyone watched their Pax feed but sweet jesus lol with this kind of content "everyone been asking for", the only thing they 'may' dethrone is Hello Kitty Online. After watching the whole thing and laughing as i've never laughed on twitch, i really don't know why im still playing gw2. Guess i want this game to be good because im a huge gw1 fan but if this is the kind of content that took them a year to build, i let you guess where this is going. Please SEGA, just release your damn PSO2 already c'moooooooon!!!!

BrunoBRS

you're still playing it? come on, that's just denial. if you really hated the game so much you would have stopped playing it long ago, instead you keep playing it, even after a whole year. you're playing a game you hate for a year now. how stupid is that?

not denial at all... i like its combat and can see huge potential if its deepened, new pvp modes are added and we have something else outside their crappy LS every patch. I don't hate the game (i said this so many times its ridonculous lol), i hate current patches they're giving us. Why? because its the same freaking thing every single time. They give us pink carrots to collect and that's about it. So yes, still playing the god damn thing and haven't abandoned it yet.

I think his opinion of the game could be summed up like this.

"While the game is enjoyable to some degee. I am also incredibly unhappy with the direction Anet takes the game. With this redicilous focus on living story rather than adding proper, truly challenging content that can take weeks, if not months to conquer, with boss fights that only 1% of the player population ever gets to tackle. That and fixing the flaws the game has."

But alas, instead of getting the proper support it deserved, Anet took the gift shop approach with the game and this living story crap. And he is far from the only one who dislikes the living story. Speaking of which, an Arenanet employee got laid off not too long ago. Here is what he had to say,

"Today marks the release of the last bit of content I built for ArenaNet. I had always hoped my last hurrah would be an epic dungeon that would stand the test of time, and provide entertainment for players to the very end but instead its an instance that will only persist for two weeks, and then go away." -Robert Hrouda

Maroxad

I'm glad some people there actually "got it".

I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of people at Arenanet "got it". Cant be very motivating to spend weeks working on content that lasts for 2 weeks and is then removed from the game.

Imagine if Arenanet stopped this living story thing all together and instead spent their time and resources on adding actual endgame to the game, new permanent lasting dungeons that truly poses a challenge to its playerbase, expand on their mechanics to allow for much stronger team play, more sPvP modes than just conquest and more WvW maps or expanded WvW mechanics.

But nah, this is just wishful thinking. Arenanet will keep on with its living story while adding new grinds to old content (new achievement system, 500 trade skill cap), all while the rest of the mmo community laughs at how badly the game is mismanaged.

Are you still playing the game? Cuz what you've said is exactly how i feel and when i say something on their official forums im instantly a troll a hater and their whole pack of mods carpet bomb me...

This is exactly what i want from gw2 and will probably never get (i say probably but not impossible to get because Chinese market 'may' force them to actually add stuff that aren't aimed at 11 year olds playing with their parents). First, i want MUCH more weapons on every class, i want to swap skills on every weapon and have access to at least 10 other skills per weapon. I want free allocation of traits and be able to chose minor and major traits in any tree. I want at least a hundred (which isn't even that much) of utilities per class for me to chose from. I want them to fix bizillion bugs every single class has (1y has passed... what the fuk I want ~25 elite skills for each class so we swap them for X situation. I want a pvp mode that is fun when played for over an hour and capping circles isn't one... Just rework Fort Aspenwood from gw1 and that alone would be amazing. Lastly, GIVE ME END GAAAAAAAAAAAME. There's absolutely nothing in gw2, not even high level fractals because there's zero reasons for you to do them (everything is acc bound, drops on rares/exotics is a joke just like everywhere else in the game, you can easily spend over an hour at lev48 for 1-2 rares/20 greens and blue shit, wtf).

They're aiming at casuals and casuals enjoy collecting pink carrots for 5 achievement points, i don't... Anet knows there's boatload of gw1 vets playing the game that aren't some casuals that know nothing else but Farmville/gw2 and call of duty so why the fk haven't they gave us a single thing since game was released? Its not like they have no money or people to build this stuff. Like i still don't get this one... Game was released, people got to lev80 and instantly realized gw2 has nothing for you to do but grind Orr (back when the game was out and farming Orr was worth you time). Others were doing their dungeons (me included) because they were new and at least decent, plus we had a goal which was dungeon's equipment. 2-3 months later everyone is done with dungeon's equipment, DR was implemented, nerf spree to everything has began and people started b*tchin on forums cuz there's nothing to do. Anet adds Fractals as the answer to people who want to do something at lev80... Fractals!!!!!!! Not an extremely challenging dungeon (which is what is lacking) in which you could participate to gather (as an example) all needed materials for your legendary which may take months but at least you had a goal. We got fking FRACTALS!!! FotM is just a new "decent" dungeon, something we've had since day one (all other 8 dungeons) except this time there's no goal whatsoever. Some may say a fractal wep or an ascended ring is but when they're both time gated, i say FK THAT... You don't release a new dungeon for your whole population asking for end game when its time gated and reward system is as attrocious as what we've had everywhere else from day one. And its not like they had no idea how shitty their reward system was, they knew about it but still released a dungeon with the same kind of trashy reward system. One year has passed, what exactly changed? MORE TIME GATED bullshit incoming in two days... Now we've reached the point where they aren't even allowing us craft EVEN when we have the needed mats... i mean how fking stupid is that? SO it'll cost you waaaay over 100g to max the three new crafting shits AND you will be waiting two long ass weeks just for one weapon. Then what? What are you gonna do with that new weapon? Nothing challenging is added or on the horizon so wtf am i supposed to do with a weapon that took me TWO WEEKS to craft? Extremely disappointed, that is all.

wow what a shitty wall of text...

pretty much.... and meaningful class roles... It was a nice casual idea.... but in the end... left much to be desired. for the more hardcore end that like PvE their content is just not suitable.

^^ Read my prior post about how GW2 is meant to be "an MMO for those that hate traditional MMOs" What u guys are asking is for GW2 to become something it was never meant to be, and was actually trying to get away from.

Its not an MMO for those who hate mmo's, its an MMO for those who dislike MMO's and those who like them. For now, over 12 months later it isn't showing one bit. Are casuals supposed to be fans of time gated content? No, no one is. Time gated content is the ultimate cheapness when it comes to giving you a false sense of progression/longevity. Its pathetic and i swear i haven't even heard about this kind of bs before playing gw2. I mean its a video game, come da fuk on with this crap. Give me gameplay, not limit me and everyone else to crafting one item per day x 14 days.

If this game was aimed at casuals only, tell me why anet is trying to push esports so much? yeaaaah, that's right... The dumb thing they're doing is this. They're trying to gather as many casuals as possible by introducing random shit on gem store only a soccer mom would care because that's how money is made. Give them casual and simplistic quests that rely on nothing else but talk to npcs and WP across the map (DAT EXPLORATION!!!) while they think their hardcore audience they've had since gw1 would stfu and just enjoy what is given to them,,,,, casual trash. Well, i don't, and if everyone who doesn't enjoy pulling out pink carrots would do the same, anet would at least be abliged to release some kind of content for those who enjoy more than watching shitty cutsceens and collect npc's trash. Not enough people point out how stupidly repetitive and boring their monthly content is.

Look at what they're adding on the 13th. A lfg tool that should've been there since day one (you know, like every game....), three new attacks/animations to Teq while also giving him like 1 trillion more HP so the fight is more "challenging". What the F kind of content is that? What am is supposed to do with this dragon as new content? camp him every three hours hoping i get more than blues/greens from his chest? I'm sorry but i had this crap for 12 months and its not exciting, fun or rewarding when it comes to spamming your auto's on a sponge bob. Why can't they add at least one hardcore dungeon such as seen in FF14 per 4-6 months? Imagine the awesome looking, rewarding, challening dungeons of FF14 with gw2's combat system, shit's would've been epic...

What I want is challenging dungeons, quality updates, more options in character building, resource management, interesting stuff to do at endgame, staves to be used as a martial weapon for some class (I main Kilik in every Soul Calibur game) and BWE1 difficulty for non instances.

I do not want this game to become another WoW wannabe nor do I want stat progression. I just want a good game, and once the freshness of the experience ran dry, I did not find myself enjoying GW2 anymore and I found myself asking "what have I been playing?", all while the updates dont bring me any hope for hte game's future.

Are you still playing the game? Cuz what you've said is exactly how i feel and when i say something on their official forums im instantly a troll a hater and their whole pack of mods carpet bomb me...

I uninstalled the game some time ago. I told myself, "Well this game really isnt going anywhere and I cant force myself to like it, might as well uninstall it and use the freed up space for something worthwhile instead".

Carpet bombed by mods? Well, I hear the censorship on the official forums is pretty bad, the game has even gotten notoriety for it in some of the gaming circles I go to.

Well maybe that is what it needs.

I understand ur points and probably even agree on most of them, but as for the so called "casual" stuff you refer to, it's probably the best I've seen so far in an MMO, and a non-sub MMO at that.

Not everyone wants to race to max level to do the same dungeon over and over.  Some people actually enjoy the leveling process and exploring the world, following the story etc (shock hey?).

I for one have probably ranked up around 60hrs on just playing the top quality PvE aspect of GW2, so I got my money's worth.

Hopefully future updates accomodate the other features people are asking for as well.

Last I typed in /age, I've ranked about 1300hrs into the game, 500 or so on one character, and I'm still working on seeing and finishing the whole planet and doing all the dungeon content.  And I barely play any PVP....though I really enjoy doing 'covert ops' in WVW with small teams in my guild to flank and take out other players...like 5-10 of us vs. 50 others and scattering and maiming them.  When you do that type of thing, actually specing into a hard lined class playstyle (tank, heals, etc.) really benefits the group.
