Possible fix you don't have a warranty or already know a thing or two about the insides of your system. I'll will be trying this soon if Sony doesn't have an update by the time I get off work tomorrow >__>

[QUOTE="jmau0438"][QUOTE="Darkitachi1989"] Well the original source of the information no longer exists(it was the original playstation error topic witht the 93 pages) however I see what you are getting at as a PSN server can affect the ststem clock nor the HDD data correct?Darkitachi1989
Your original quote seemed to hint at order of introduction into the PSN network, and yes, that doesn't make sense. Large networks don't segregate by order of introduction, but rather location. There are hundreds (if not thousands, haven't done the homework on it) of servers out there, your PS3 "talks" to the one closest to you. In regards to your second comment, that's not entirely right either. Your updates (or any software update i.e. Windows) replace existing "machine instructions" with newer ones, and may provide additional material to support it (like when PSN was first introduced). The hardware (the physical parts) may not change, but how they are used can. So yes, your PS3 may download an "update" from a PSN server containing new "machine instructions" that may affect your hard-drive (the new stuff has to go somewhere right?) and affect "devices" such as your system clock. How else do you think they'd fix something like this? ;) (Hey Gamespot, I'm handing out good intel here, how bout a job!)

True and you make good sense there. I agree with you completely after reading your facts over. The theory I mentioned wasnt mine I just thought I would restate it for discussion so as for a person such as yourself, could prove it wrong.

Anytime :)

[QUOTE="RobertHorry5"]

So... here is my theory.

The exact time the servers went down 24 hours after that it should be fine technically. cause if the system thinks its Feb 29th then after 24 hours passes the system should be able to recognize the right date. If that doesn't happen well then we hope for a patch....if that still doesn't happen. Massive Recalls and we all get ps3 slims which i would be extremely upset if that occured. I love my ps3 fat. it has all the memory card reeaders like the SD card and Memory stick pro duo reader. 80gigs and backwards compatability AND 4 usb ports.... I don't want to lose all that to an inferrior slim model with more memory thats what portable hard drives are for.

Bow-T_88

that BC ps3 would have died anyway lol

Well you could be right, but I make sure to keep my PS3 in open air on a hard surface and every 2 weeks i clean out the dust with a can of compressed air. I'd take my chances!!! lol

Curious to find out how the last one got fixed and for how long did it last since this seems to have happened before on a thread started 2008 or a little later (perhaps feb 2009?) and it passed.....

i got on this forum in the original topic that had only 3 pages to it and saw those posts from 2008. I thought it was a serious unfixable problem from what i was reading. By the time i went to type my message though those 3 pages turned into about 40 pages in an instant which soon became that 92 page topic that was closed.

but i digress,

Hopefully it isn't an unfixable problem because this would be one of the biggest epic fails of all time.

No it isn't a leap year but the system could be told that a leap year could occur on a wrong year so even though we know it isn't it might think so. I'm not sure if thats the case as I only know what you guys do but ive seen something similar happen on a CPU program b4 and it took 24 horus to right itself. (not trying to trash just trying to think outside the box)

yeah but the problem is that the internal memory of the ps3 thinks it is and its basically fighting itself to make your game jump to this date and thats how all this is happening, so in order for it to be fixed, it needs to have every timezone be in march 1, so then the internal system can notice. trust me.

[QUOTE="sheer999"]I think we need to name this infection. I vote for "Mad Sony" disease. RobertHorry5

we are already ahead of the curve. were calling it the H-800 N-1050F Virus.

I think that calling it the "Back to the past" disease or "The lock of the clock" infection would be better,we could also call it "The time machine" disorder.

Nice, so that's more evidence that the problem isn't related to PSN. Removing the BIOS/CMOS? battery would reset the date/time.

But a hacker is only a person and a person who can be tracked via IP address and even if they are using a proxy the federal government has ways of finding them even if they are. If it was a hacker this problem would have been fixed by now and if the hacker(s) had put a virus on the servers the virus would be detected/quarantined/destroyed before it disrupted the servers in the couple days time.

Let me start with my appologizes for repeating what has been said numerous times. I don't claim to be a software genious, actually that's basically the opposite of what I claim. ( it's 4 am here so forgive the haggard spelling and grammer.) There's over 8001050 pages on this problem, (puns ftw,) and I have been reading every price of information I can find on it. For those of you that remember the Y2K scare (obviously if your 14 you probably don't remember it,) this seems to be very very similar. PSN has nothing to do with your failure. From what I can tell it was pretty much in your "phat" ps3's DNA the moment you opened the box. It's still up for debate wheather the date of your account creation affects it. If anyone doesn't have a PSN account registered to their ps3, yet are still having this issue please say something. I do not believe that keeping your "phatty" switched off will affect the problem or solution, however I never cared for the trophys. You may (or may not) lose the trophys/DLC as mentioned in the opening post. The good news is that I called in a favor from a pretty good looking female. I requested that she fix this, because if we like to admit it or not women get things done while us nerds just complain, and some troll, over the Internet. It saddens me to think that this is the third time this problem has arised, and Sony still hasn't come up with a permanent solution. It's even sadder that Microsoft did it on the first try. Come on Sony, at least postponeit fo another year so that we may get our game on. (insert FPS Doug impression.) If anyone disagrees with anything I have said feel free to correct me. In the meantime I'm going outside while it's still dark, seeing as how my skin hasn't absorbed sunlight since the 1st George Bush held office an is very likely to cook me instantly.

I said something like that in the original thread before it turned into nonsense, sadly I only got through to one person, but better than none. This situation makes it very easy to imagine how a users' entire library may be rendered useless once PSN support is no longer there.

Wow. Wasnt expecting that. But ok. But anyway do you (or anyone else for that matter) think that it is ok to turn on my PS3 to watch Blu Ray Movies??? What about Single Player games??? Or should I just keep it off until SCE says something?

i want to see people getting fired over this!!!Donthizz_86

I can't agree more...

I've had a few overwhelming days, and just when I was about to seek comfort from my PS3, I got the error message, saying I've been signed out from PSN.

I tried to load "Tales of Vesperia", "FFXIII" and "Heavy Rain," and couldn't play any of them. That was when I freaked out.

Thx Sony, you made my day.

[QUOTE="jmau0438"]Hey Moderator, How is this: "So basically, if the console can't manage trophies via PSN (which the PS3 didn't really need to begin with, but did so anyway to be as "cool" as Xbox 360 in the eyes of kiddies everywhere), a process that could be done locally on the clients machine (and backed-up with a sync process via PSN), the client doesn't get to play. A rule that is no doubt backed by the technical requirement checklist, with obvious backlashes in logic, but was enforced anyway because the PS3 needed the ego boost and any sour scenarios "could never happen". If I were an executive at Sony, I could say with absolute certainty and zero remorse, that someone is going to get fired today." Off topic. This is the founding premise of the entire situation. Read into PS3 Trophies (the area of chief concern outside of actually playing your console and one of the primary effected components in this bug) and how they came to be and you might agree. Your action tells me that you are either vary tired (which I could understand) or just don't know your industry. Did the "Xbox 360" phrase do it? Either way I was just trying to help, to which I'm an unusual advocate being as how I work in the development side of the industry. But hey man, it's your show.

Very well put

@Darkitachi im going to sleep man...would suggest you do the same...its hopeless to really bother waiting up any longer as Sony has proven themselves invaluable informats as always...*cough*... And might as well point out that its now been (relativley close, at least to the) 12 hours since the bug emerged...and Sony seems silent as ever: (http://twitter.com/sonyplaystation)

[QUOTE="Darkitachi1989"][QUOTE="aroxx_ab"]

Hmm i just came to think of that in future when Sony stop support Ps3 network all Ps3 that still work will be unable to play games since most games need "sync trophies" with PSN ?:(

aroxx_ab

I'm interested in what will happen with that as well even though im sure we will all have PS4s by then.

Well, i am kinda collector and means i still have a working Snes for example and have plans on save/keep my Ps3 with the game collection.

If I still had my SNES :( but ya I still have my PS2(the fat one) and the Gamecube so I see what your saying.
