I respectfully disagree with Mason Downey's Gina Carano Article and it's lack of a comment section.

@silentchief: i am on the side of the country not party, you really need to stop watching fox news and do some research how many people went to jail because of it and for what and with out the Russia investigation those people would be still working for the White House. All you do is the typical Republican crybaby Whataboutism just what you are doing right now

“And let's not forget the Scotus trial when they accused a judge of rape and used a witness that couldn't tell you when , where or how it happened.”

You have to be more clear about what you mean no idea what you are talking about

@LJS9502_basic: And once again, no you didn’t rephrase anything. You came into a conversation between two other people which usually I have no problem with in a public forum, had a misunderstanding of what those people were talking about, proceeded to blurt out your canned nonsense about your misguided favorable beliefs in communism in an attempt to make someone else look stupid, blamed me for your mistake, and then proceeded to call me a troll.

Quite honestly the only thing that bothers me here about it is your instinctual reaction to play the victim over something that you did and then childishly call people trolls when they call you out.

Just own up to it man, and move on like an adult.

Lol no your not. Biden will be a shitshow hell he already has been. Closing down the keystone pipeline, no plan for vaccines ,his ties to China and his pandering to the far left and btw I don't watch Fox News.

I love how you call Republicans crybabies when you all literally had a meltdown that lasted for FOUR YEARS. I noticed Democrats use the word " whataboutism " all the time now. It's a great way ignore the blatant hypocrisy that's going on now. Regardless just stick to CNN or one of the many late night host that share the exact same political opinion. Your username suites you perfectly " sheep".

Then you must have been living under a rock in September of 2018 it's all they talked about. Google Bret Kavanaugh trial.

Oh, let me guess: mainstream right wingers calling for heads on pikes is uniting the country, but centrist media calling them cunts for it is dividing the country. ok

What mainstream rightwinger called for people's heads? Mainstream rightwinger is also an Oxymoron.

CNN , MSNBC, ABC, NYT and WP isn't centrist. According to media bias websites they are all left of center some even far left.

Republicans cried foul even after Trump won 2016. They bitched and moaned his entire term and constantly flooded comment sections with "the media is the enemy of the people" bs. Yeah, that's definitely what you call a cry baby. Trump won but he faced opposition when it came to pushing his agenda. That's what happens to every president. But rather than taking criticism like a grown up, Trump cried about it. We KNEW Trump was a crook from the beginning. That's why we hounded him all that time. There's a big difference.

@silentchief: lol why don’t you point out where i am wrong? I watch all news channels Cnn, Fox news, bbc and newsy. Bbc and newsy i think are one of the better news channels you can watch in the us. I like how fox news didn’t show the 2nd impeachment trail at all they most likely did take out small clips to brain wash Republicans crybabies so they can sleep better at night. I remember that now Bret K all that crap was a waste of time smear campaign if you will. Lol and you think Trump did a great job with vaccines.

Because you only seem to focus on corruption when it comes from one side. As for Fox news I wouldn't know, what deranged loser sits around and watches an impeachment trial? Which ultimately was a giant waste of time! Seriously think of the vindictive loser who sits at home foaming at the mouth hoping DT got impeached and convicted only for him to get off again.

At least Trump got it out by the end of 2020 while Sleepy Joe said there was no way it was possible.

Flooded the comment section? Wtf are you talking about what comment section? Twitter which is the largest platform was full of lefties and MSM media having a non stop meltdown for 4 years. And it wasn't just Trump they did the same shit to Bush it was just worse for Trump because he was far more outspoken.

You literally couldn't even watch late night comedy shows because they spent their whole show bitching and crying.

When faced with a backlash a company has to determine if it's going to effect their bottom line. And with social media we see that play out faster than in years past. It's instant feedback. And with this particular individual there were warnings given to chill which was ignored. A company has to protect it's other employees and losing consumers would cause some to lose jobs. And they aren't the rich ones either. And of course they want to protect their bottom line.

That's based on the experience with said articles. If the experience was that the comments weren't full of insults, the comment section would have been open.

I should have made it clear that "you" in this case wasn't you personally, but rather "you" as a group that comments on said articles.

The debates in this thread is far above what our experience is with said articles.

The hashtag #canceldisneyplus became one of the top trends on Twitter after her firing was announced. She had just as many supporters as she did haters. Thats the issue corporations tend to pander to the left eventhough in many cases its bad business. The reality is Disney wouldn't have gained or lost a significant amount of money either way as the vast majority of Boycotts only have temporary repercussions.

Disney stock has been steadily declining since that incident, tho its hard to really draw any conclusions from that alone.

Could just as easily be profit takers doing their thing after the earnings report boost.

I dont really think keeping her employed was actually costing Disney money either though.

It's by far the most popular. You think people are writing letters?

Unless there was some high ranking investor that wanted her fired. But Disney also has large right wing investors so I doubt they really cared.

Yeah, thats all speculative though. I've seen no solid evidence that having her employed was, or would have cost Disney any revenue whatsoever.

Look at DIS stock chart before and after her firing. It went down, not up.

Again, not solid proof of anything, but it's certainly NOT making the case that Disney would do better financially without her.

Disney is of course 'pandering' to their consumer base. Thus, the decision was consumer driven. You're indirectly helping me support my original statement.

There is an intangible asset in business called goodwill. It helps with loans, sell offs, and customer returns. If the business feels this asset is jeopardy they act to course correct. It doesn't have to be actual monetary loss.

@LJS9502_basic: Right, so then I guess it comes down to perceived value of goodwill in firing her vs not firing her.

I can sorta see this point, but at the same time I dont understand how they could have calculated that filming Mulan where they did would have a positive effect on Goodwill.

Unless they opted to just ignore it in that scenario? Or the potential profit from filming in that location outweighed any perceived loss of goodwill?

Anyhoo, back to the main topic at hand, its still extremely cowardly to post "opinion" pieces yet disallow any opinions. If comments are to be blocked, should be blocked for all or none. Not selectively.

I answered above that controversial topics tend to be comment locked to avoid fighting/insults. It's done many places including youtube. I'm not sure why people feel they have a right to comment on everything in public but you can certainly discuss the topic here. This thread isn't locked. As for Disney was there backlash when they were filming? I honestly am not a Disney fan per se but they bought up Star Wars and Marvel so I had to get Disney+.

@LJS9502_basic: I think we’ll both appreciate the fact that you’re now ignoring your tendency to walk into an ongoing conversation and blather out some nonsense, rather than actively pursuing it. It’s a pretty arrogant approach to life, but good luck with that.

@SUD123456: Ever heard the phrase if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen?

Why is a gaming website even posting this kind of stuff anyways? Oh right. To drive revenue and site visits. If they can't handle or moderate the comments section on some of these inflammatory op-ed pieces designed to drive traffic, then maybe don't post them? Maybe stick to i dunno, gaming related topics?

The irony of you posting this on the Political Gamers forum of a gaming site amuses me.

The answer is: because they can. They aren't beholden to you or anyone else. They can pick and choose what they want to open for comments or not. If you don't like it, then leave. What else needs to be said?

@LJS9502_basic: Not really. They're both sets of words on the internet that you can choose to pay attention to, or ignore. We've always had that choice.

Unless that person stalks you, follows you, phones your job to try to get you fired, post your personal info online etc.

So then you agree that the backlash that Gina received on Twitter is immaterial and a red herring, and that her own post comparing the pushback on her political beliefs is in no way comparable to the treatment of Jews by the Nazis.

It's called a typo clown, perhaps you should learn a proper sentence structure before you talk about intelligence.

I'm not mad at all you are a non American worried about our politics because you have nothing else to do and your country is irrelevant from a world power standpoint? Or are you a immigrant who drank the leftwing bullshit that the evil rightwingers were coming to get you? The fact you managed to talk about Trump impeachment in a thread about a GameSpot article about Gina Carano says all I need to know about you.

Ps: I don't watch Fox news , I also don't obsess over politicians.

@LJS9502_basic: The controversy isn't just about Gina getting fired though. Most of the attention was on whether she was being treated like a jew in nazi germany with the hate she received on twitter, wasn't it? Not that disney isn't already in a very controversial place, the thing about them filming mulan near a chinese internment camp?

And I agree that it's similar, the Nazis demonized the jews and the population started to align with that, which was why they were able to treat them like vermin.

You'd probably start to worry for your safety too if enough people called for you to lose your ability to make a living.

I laughed at the similar comment. Similar in the same way that a single match is to the sun.

@SUD123456: @horgen I think @LJS9502_basic is ban evading, the name style looks like a sock account and they're both super dismissive without adding any evidence.
