When faced with a backlash a company has to determine if it's going to effect their bottom line. And with social media we see that play out faster than in years past. It's instant feedback. And with this particular individual there were warnings given to chill which was ignored. A company has to protect it's other employees and losing consumers would cause some to lose jobs. And they aren't the rich ones either. And of course they want to protect their bottom line.

That's based on the experience with said articles. If the experience was that the comments weren't full of insults, the comment section would have been open.

The hashtag #canceldisneyplus became one of the top trends on Twitter after her firing was announced. She had just as many supporters as she did haters. Thats the issue corporations tend to pander to the left eventhough in many cases its bad business. The reality is Disney wouldn't have gained or lost a significant amount of money either way as the vast majority of Boycotts only have temporary repercussions.

Yeah, thats all speculative though. I've seen no solid evidence that having her employed was, or would have cost Disney any revenue whatsoever.

Look at DIS stock chart before and after her firing. It went down, not up.

There is an intangible asset in business called goodwill. It helps with loans, sell offs, and customer returns. If the business feels this asset is jeopardy they act to course correct. It doesn't have to be actual monetary loss.
