The Russian tactic here is to win through misery. He's going on state TV, coming up with bullshit to justify to parents why their sons are dead. acting like Ukraine is doing this and that.

When in reality they are just constantly shelling the shit out of a city (none stop for hours) killing off as much of the populace as humanly possible.

He was on the phone to the French leader, instead of de-escalating it he promised "the worst is still to come", proclaiming he's after all of Ukraine.

Basically gotta sit and watch an entire country get tortured, or start WW3.

Might have to start 3.

Anyone has an idea how likely Putin will be dealt with internally by his government? I'm pretty sure a lot of thoughts going around within the ruling party right now.

How is Northen Sweden doing? I don't remember which city (or town if you want to) here in Norway could lose potentially 1/10 jobs due to removing any business done with the Russians.

Work with Finland to push their army just across the border to Norway in the North and Nato can join in on the war…

That we will. We are already doing joint exercises and whatnot. And I am prepared to help Finland in any way I can.

⚡️⚡️⚡️As a result of the shelling at the #Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, a fire started. The exact location of the fire is being specified. CCTV cameras at the plant show flames and smoke. pic.twitter.com/XoN2TzAVJu

It seems like the fires are in the offices zone.

No idea For now, most of us are just on our guard.

For now, I am super concerned about the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Last time a Nuclear Power Plant blew up in Ukraine. A good chunk of the radioactive waste blew over to sweden.

"A high-ranking Russian general has been killed during fighting in Ukraine, in what experts say will be a bitter blow for Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Andrei Sukhovetsky was the commanding general of the Russian 7th Airborne Division and a deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army, and by far the most senior Russian figure to have died in the conflict so far.

A military source said Maj Gen Sukhovetsky had been killed by a sniper."

Oh man, that must have been a satisfying shot.

@uninspiredcup: The first failed attempt, if the suspicion that the info to stop it came from within Russian secret services is true that might be a sign of hope. The Chechenian failures are kind of funny, because they were lauded as this big bad elite force that was coming in, and they were wiped right away.

Assuming the attempts were legitimate. Ukraine has been pushing out as much bullshit propaganda as Russia has been. It's hard to say if those reports are even legitimate.

There came an article in Lithuania's news website. Basically, it wrote that Putin kept everyone in the dark about invasion in to Ukraine. Generally, when Kremlin decides these kinds of operations, economic, internal affairs etc. ministries and big Russian companies perform "stress-tests" regarding how much possible sanctions might hurt them, and if the sanctions are too much according to models, advisors always told Putin to back off or do as minimum as possible. This time, for some reason, no one knew about his plans and no one prepared for such sanctions. And everyone thinks that they are FUCKED now. According to sum anonymous politician from Kremlin. Of course, it's just hearsay, but interesting hearsay.

@gns: Was just watching the news there. Apparently when Federation Council was passing the censorship law they were challenged by a mother of one of the politicians about a conscript of 100 soldiers sent where only 3 returned or some such.

Maybe getting hints that things behind the scenes are getting slight rumblings?

It is odd Putin would suddenly make a U-turn trying to be friendly.

As said in the other thread, think his threats of using nukes is largely bullshit, he knows it makes the UN go into a fetal position. So like, an actual legit threat from his dumbasses almost levelling a nuclear plant, just, basing this on nothing, but I think we are seeing his real reaction, fear.

I think I saw an excerpt of that on Twitter. Judging by comments in Russian language therein, it seems everyone is holding her a hypocrite, considering she was the one of the politicians who did not object to the order to have troops stationed at the border.

Hmmm... interesting:

Знаете, сколько рейсов из России примет аэропорт Еревана сегодня? 37. Тридцать семь. За одни сутки. Это беженцы. Из России. Тысячи беженцев в сутки в один только Ереван. Путин довёл страну уже до массового бегства людей.

Do you know, how many flights from Russia Yerevan accepts today? 37. Thirty seven. Per day. These are refugees. From Russia. Thousands of refugees per day and just only to Yerevan. Putin managed to lead a country to a point where there is mass exodus per day.

Думаю, в основном это счастливые патриоты, которые "за путина" и "за войну". Обычно они в первых рядах.

Thinking, that these are happy patriots, who are "pro Putin" and "pro War". Of course, they are first in line.

Damn, sometimes twitter has good reads.

I just want this war to end. 1 million refugees and tensions racheting up. There has to be some solution that allows Ukraine its sovereignty and self determination and Russia its security. But unforunately, I think this war has little to do with "security" and more to do with power and control.

Love what they have done with that latest Putin broadcast .

The vids of him sitting in sterile looking room sitting 20 feet away from people (which Zelensky made fun of) came across as abit Dr. Evil compared to Zelenskys approach, so they now have him sitting in an angel white room full of young woman with some lovely tea.

Once again implying WW3.

Seems Russia lost a few planes today. This is backed up by 4-5 clips uploaded today specifically showing them being downed. From clips it seems a few ejected (at least one captured) But that's a lot of money up in smoke. 1 Su-34 = $36/40 million

What's funny, in one of his prior speeches prior to the invasion, he denied Ukraine having any statehood. So, does it have statehood or not, Putin?!

Also, a logic of a man, who thinks that the greatest tragedy of 20th century was the fall of USSR...

thats wrong. Ukraine would be stepped on by now if the rest of the world didn't stand together, sanction russia to the middle ages. send ukraine the most advanced weapons and intelligence and even more. Its pretty much a proxy war at this point, and the reason Russia is struggling so much is you have ukranians blowing up russian vehicles with state of the art drones, heat seeking missiles, and so on. The fight is not as lopsided as people make it seem.

In fact, even though ukraine is a pile of rubble. Russia is not much better. Their economy has been devastated to the likes not seen in a long time and their people are suffering for it. Ukraine is worse off, but Russia isn't far behind.

again, this isn't the ukranians doing the damage. Its the world plus ukraine vs russia. If china started helping out russia directly in the way the rest of the world is helping out ukraine...well shit would get a lot messier real quick. But I have no doubt, china is lending russia money, selling weapons, and more.

Not sure what trying to argue here. Pretty much everyone knows the weapons used will be contributed by other countries. No one has claimed they didn't.

It was them who shot down these down, with aid yes, but it's them doing the fighting outside a tiny population of the odd foreigner.

@uninspiredcup: ok but let's not try to paint ukraine as some sort of super underdog. They are being heavily aided by the world. And now I read on CNN how we are trying to push Poland into sending Ukraine some jets.

Honestly, just the severity of the sanctions, combined with the heavy assistance from the rest of the world is probably bleeding Russia dry. At this point, I think ukraine has a shot at getting past this, using jungle warfare tactics. That's just how much damage has been done to Russia by the west.

On top of that...its obvious that Russia is not using the heavily damaging weapons. They expected to just walk in, and quickly put things to end. They didn't expect so much resistance, and so much aid from the west. Now putin is being pushed into a corner, and might actually use the weapons he used in Syria. The thing is though, ukraine and Russia are very close, historically and culturally. They are very much family. Using those kinds of weapons is a last resort, if not off the table completely.
