Hundreds of white nationalists/alt-right babies marched with torches(never a good sign) through university of Virginia. They were doing it in preparation of a unite the right rally.

What do you guys think of this?

i was watching it live on periscope last night. richard was shouting that Japanese/Asians want to look white at Emily Gorcenski. There is a video of Emily in tears after last night event.

i also heard white supremacist shouting something last night that was hard to hear, it sounded like they were shouting "jew will not replace us", but i think they were shouting "you will not replace us"

when this is all over, richard will say in an interview "nothing racist here"

Any push from one extreme will lead to the pushback from another. Is anyone really surprised given the last few year of extreme far less focus? No? Good.

Spouting hateful rhetoric against a group of people with traits that are uncontrollable (race, color, creed, orientation) is vastly different than breaking shop windows. And if you paid attention, you'd realize that violent protesters - right or left - usually get arrested. No one is tolerating violence or spouting violent rhetoric, nor should they.

If you want free speech for the left you can´t deny it for the right, simple as. I do not give a fudge about if it's hateful speech from the morons with nazi flags or it´s the far left nutjobs who smash a city to bits because they are just there to smash things.

What you can do is fight the hateful speech by using your right to free speech , it's not any harder than that, and sure it may spread like cancer, but that is nothing to do with the free speech, it´s because there will always be idiots in the world.

I agree 100% seeing those nutjobs with nazi flags and swastikas is horrible but Free speech is free speech and if we want to claim free speech we also have to grant it to others despite not liking what they use it for. Equal rights and all.

Also not everyone has the same problem with those flags, after all remove the main nazi logo and put in a windows logo and steam and even Gamespot is ok with it.

Full photographic and video evidence and a shit load of witnesses. Although the MSM refuses to report it of course. Trumps response was that there was violence on all sides of the field. That seems like a correct assessment to me. If he's going to denounce white supremacist groups, then it's only fair to do the same with hate filled, racist and violent groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

There is a difference between lies/propganda/hate and free speech. Most of the right wing rhetoric would not be considered free speech in any other free democratic or republic country in the world. Hate, false propganda, lies are all criminal offenses in most countries.

Free speech is a double-edged sword. It's not just a matter of ideology but also expressing viewpoints that are entirely wrong. For example, saying that evolution is false and that creationism is true; saying vaccines are dangerous when the science proves otherwise.

While it seems trivial, people can be stupid and just enough can create a tidal wave that can affect millions more. The same happened with Germany before the Nazis, the same with Rwanda with the Hutus and Tutsis and as people buy into the whole "vaccines are dangerous" their children will suffer and affect other children.

Free speech is excellent in expressing your viewpoints for and against the government but when that information relies on falsehoods, it can lead to devastating results which can destroy the country itself.

Was watching CNN while at the gym and they noted an interesting point: how so many condemned Obama for his refusal to say "Islamic terrorism", as Trump seems reluctant to do the same with "white supremacists".

It is very disgusting that Trump would use this incident to play partisan politics.

yeah but if you are being genuine, you should give anyone the benefit of the doubt, even a guy like Trump. Not unless you want to use this horrific incident as a useful tool to criticize a politician you do not like.

As for Trump's response, I do think he should mention "white nationalism" but he did say he condemns hate in all its forms, so you cannot say he's taking the side of white nationalism, even a little bit. He may still condemn them by name btw. He was on vacation I understand, and there might still be a lot of info yet to to confirm.
