After months of waiting and searching....finally found some news.

OFFICIAL NEWS WILL COME THIS WEEK
http://www.facebook.com/Sonic/posts/10150153056702418
And if anyone didn't know, the domain 'SonicGenerations.com' it has the same host info as the 'SonicHedgehog4.com' so it's definitely official.
Change the title and make it official.
Now that we finally have solid news on the next Sonic game, I've renamed and stickied the thread. I have a feeling this is that "Sonic Anniversary" we'd been hearing about, and it probably almost definitely is a remake of old levels in one game because of the name plus the fact a thread was made a while back about Tony Harnell redoing the song "Escape From the City" which is obviously City Escape's theme from Adventure 2.
I might be jumping the gun but I do think the rumors are going to be true, but obviously until we see actual screenshots and footage, who knows what we're getting. But it's good to know we have some news now.
Hooray, something exciting!
There is nothing interesting now, since the 3DS is out, any interesting game isn't coming out (or even have much news) for a while, and E3 is 2 months away...

.....how far is Sonic's birthday from E3?
Looks like after a stellar 2010, 2011 is going to be a rather blah year for Sonic. We have Sonic 4: Episode II which hopefully will make up for episode 1's shortcomings, another upcoming mini game compliation with Mario because God hates us and whatever this 20th anniversary project ends up being but I'm with phcm it's probably just an up res of past game levels in a compilation which is nice and all but lately some companies are getting lazy with his doing up reses of old games to make easy cash.
But I've noticed that Sega is doing like Nintendo in not announcing new games years before release now. Remember this time last year we knew nothing of Sonic Colors meaning Sega spent a lot less time hyping it up same with DKCR and Kirby's Epic Yarn. These games unseen prior to E3 and coming out by Christmas. Which is honestly a nice change of pace. The hype machine was getting out of control on a lot of titles. We had teaser trailers coming out and then not seeing any actual gameplay for months even years and leading to insanely high expectations that could never be met (lookin at you SSBB). So clearly Sega's keeping these upcoming Sonic projects on the down low until E3.
Lord knows they put fans in a good mood with Sonic 4 and Colors, the last thing they want to do is blow it all on another overhyped rushed out project.
'BRAND NEW TRAILER COMING TOMORROW ONLY ON SONIC'S FACEBOOK! Be sure to come back tomorrow to check it out!'
Can't wait!
Anyone else notice Kinect being listed as a registered trademark at the end of the video (the facebook one, not the Free Riders one)? Not good for Microsoft players. And remember, Sonic 4 was originally "confirmed" to be PS3 and XBOX 360 only (because it was supposed to be HD only), and look what happened, it got on the Wii and the iPhone. :Pmariostar0001I'm gonna pray it gets a Wii release.
*speculates*
well this could either be a remake of a bunch of levels or
*takes a very huge strecth*
a time travel concept seeing how green hill zone was covered in ice and we have two sonics
Well seeing retro and modern Sonic together is rather weird. Kinda like when 4Kids did an TMNT anniversary episode with the modern Ninja Turtles meeting up with the old school Ninja Turtles from the early 90s is something that was equally cool and weird. Wouldn't that rip a hole in the space time continum? Though no idea what this game is going to be yet.
Also I am annoyed they're not making it for the Wii given that's where Sonic games sell best. Of course only Wii owners got Sonic Colors the genuinely good console Sonic game in some time and if the Wii logo isn't showing on that trailer then it's not happening. After all Sega spent a fortune on that Hedgehog Engine to make Sonic all shiny and HD and it was already wasted when the non Hedgehog engine version of Unleashed sold more same with Sonic's other multiplatform titles.
Then again Sega will probably say that Wii owners didn't get it because either A) We already got Sonic Colors or B) They plan to shove out their Mario and Sonic mini game collection for his anniversary on that console. Because despite the fact we all loathe Sega continuing to waste the Sonic/Mario partnership on mini games, it sells and it's easier and cheaper to slap them all in a Mini game compilation than try to make two totally different types of gameplay gel together in something that's coherent and fun.
kbaily, sometimes I wonder about you. :P Did you look at my post? I have the idea it might be the ability to play as either version of Sonic in the game, but only for the sake of fans wanting retro Sonic, not due to some convoluted time travel plotline, we had enough of that with Sonic '06.Also I am annoyed they're not making it for the Wii given that's where Sonic games sell best. Be optimistic all you want but when Sonic 4 was annouced, we saw the Wii logo along with a ? for the Iphone, if it was going to be on the Wii, they would've put the logo on the screen already. Wii owners aren't getting it.
But I love reading youtube comments from fans already saying it's going to suck. Not me, that was the old bitter Katie, before Sonic Colors injected pure uncut happy into my eyes. Though you have the fans of "crappy Sonic" already mad knowing Sega is abandoning the friend heavy, epicly bad stories, gimmick laden Adventure games to actually make the series mainstream and popular again and others who apparently ignored Sonic Colors and are still on the "Sonic is dead" ride. After all Colors wasn't on an HD console and game franchises not made by Nintendo can't make comebacks on the Wii because the Wii is horrible and evil. You didn't know that? Yep that's what all the game journalists say because after all, they are all knowing and we have to be good little sheep and play what they tell us.
*sorry about that, some guy on another forum was annoying me going on about how game reviews are always right.*

When Sonic 4 was announced it didn't have any logos at all, either in the "Project Needlemouse" days or the days before it got its own site. It was weeks before it got confirmed for various system, and after that it changed again. You're claiming to be optimistic about it, but really, you're as pessimistic as ever, just in different ways. That looks half like snow and half doesn't, but given the fact that he's running across it and it makes a cloud, eh, I'll believe it. What isn't acceptable however, is the fact that 'Retro' Sonic has buckles on his shoes.srbrans
In Sonic CD, Retro Sonic had buckles added to his shoes.Â

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Forever. Yes this is real.

I have to reply on the common Facebook comment:
"Wii owners got Sonic Colors, 360/PS3 didn't, this seems fair."Â
I see this as stupid. Why must THIRD PARTY companies care about what is exclusive and what isn't? If people want to buy it, put it on the system so they can buy it. Wouldn't it make sense to put it on EVERY system? I know a lot of people that sold their Wii's because PS3/360 were getting the third party games, and the Wii third party exclusives were few and far between and then ended up being re-released on other systems anyway (No More Heroes, De Blob, Shattered Memories). Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony games should be exclusives to their own systems, third party companies shouldn't pick and choose.
Of course there's the HD problem, but for crine out loud we didn't buy Wii's for HD graphics.

SuperfastSonic
My theory is that this will run the Hedgehog Engine so it'd be pratically impossible to run on the Wii. If it does use the HE then this game will be amazing.
Off topic: I love having all four systems.
If people went around doing that, the console wars would be so heated, everyone would be thrown into chaos. There's got to be a balance for these things. Exclusives tend to cause fits, which turn into chaos. The less exclusives, the more calm everyone is. Remember, we are dealing with the human race here.
Of course if Super really wanted that plan to come to action, at least the world would know who's house they have to burn down. :P
