Well what if the game ends up sucking? We wouldn't want THAT on the Wii, now would we?

I actually heard that Sonic '06 was supposed to be ported to the Wii, but they didn't have the time to do it, and that's how Sonic and the Secret Rings was made, and that was WAAAAAY better than Sonic '06.

I have to reply on the common Facebook comment:

"Wii owners got Sonic Colors, 360/PS3 didn't, this seems fair."

I see this as stupid. Why must THIRD PARTY companies care about what is exclusive and what isn't? If people want to buy it, put it on the system so they can buy it. Wouldn't it make sense to put it on EVERY system? I know a lot of people that sold their Wii's because PS3/360 were getting the third party games, and the Wii third party exclusives were few and far between and then ended up being re-released on other systems anyway (No More Heroes, De Blob, Shattered Memories). Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony games should be exclusives to their own systems, third party companies shouldn't pick and choose.

Of course there's the HD problem, but for crine out loud we didn't buy Wii's for HD graphics.

Well it's mostly stupid on Sega's part because their sales figures prove Sonic games sell well on the Wii and DS despite the constant industry babble of "only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo systems." A lot of kids have Wiis and kids love Sonic so it's mostly just stupid for Sega to ignore a large sales demographic just to make Sonic all shiny and pretty. Then again after Nintendo proved that being family friendly was highly profitable you've seen Sony and MS suddenly rush to give their systems a more "family friendly" appeal. Xbox's obscene amount they spent on Rare and Sony pushing Sly Cooper and Sackboy along with both companies jumping on the motion control party game bandwagon in effort to prove their consoles are for more than sad lonely teenage nerds as well. And since they can't get Mario on their systems, Sonic's the next biggest kid friendly character out there.

Though you can't judge a game simply by its trailer, but you cannot deny that every game series had its hic-ups now and then. And if you want to see whiny fans you should see the COD babies - they won't even admit that COD isn't the best game series ever made.

Yes, but if Sega releases it for the HD consoles only then they can start a completely new audience for Sonic there. Why do you think companies are releasing so many M-rated games for the Wii?

Not all DLC is evil. Some companies like Rockstar create great DLC. Rockstar's DLC is great because it actually adds to the game. Some companies like EA charge you for stuff like weapons and other stuff like that.

Nintendo is most likely going HD with their next console. If they do, maybe they can share more games with the PS3 and Xbox 360. Let's only hope they go HD! Really, Nintendo needs to get with the times. IslandBros15

I have to say though I think the reason M-rated games are on the Wii is indeed to test what works with the Wii and what does not, but who is to say they couldn't have done just as well on an HD system? They're moving No More Heroes to the PS3 as I make this post, after all. I'm not saying in any way that the game is going to be bad because it's on the HD systems, my hope is that it will be good, but my issue is I don't see the reason why they DON'T include a Wii release. If given an explanation, I'd be more inclined to settle for it.

Maybe now I'll actually buy that game. I didn't before because I prefer a controller over a stick.

Also I guess I'm the only person who doesn't buy a console based on bells and whistles. For those who assume that if the Wii had an HD upgrade all the third parties would suddenly flock to them. Keep this in mind, the GC ran at the same capacity as the PS2 and XB and the XB only sold 2 million more units than the Wii and third parties didn't support it. The DS has really dated graphics and no HD and everyone makes all kinds of games for it while snubbing the technically superior PSP. Stop listening to all that BS IGN and Gameinformer spew out all the time because they know nothing. Mark my word if Nintendo went HD it would get the same third party support the Wii did.

Now the guys at Screwattack aren't on the "Sonic is dead" bandwagon because they acknowlege and liked Colors as well as Sonic 4 though I like that he points out about retro Sonic's buckles then says something all the Sonic 4 whiny fanboys needed to hear IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SONIC LOOKS LIKE!! And he mentions the Wii getting one kind of game and the HD twins getting something else so I'm guessing the consoles are getting similar games. Might end up like Unleashed in that it's same concept but with different stages and setup maybe?

Also now that Sonic ditched all the gimmicks and went back to straight up running fast platforming, now we're circling back to "they need to bring in a new gameplay element." Aaaaaggghhhh!! Geez guys, Sega tried doing new elements for years. Werehogs, guns, swords and we all hated it remember!!? Besides the whisps were a new element that was implemented well because Sonic was never that heavy on powerups. This is the constant conundrum long running game series face. I call it "Innovation without alienation." If you don't change up the series, people will grow bored (Dynasty Warriors) and if you change too much people will get angry because it's too unfamiliar (Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts). But this whole thing stems back to a greater problem with the game industry that I'll save for a "Blue Blur' article.

Ah, kbaily, you're one of maybe 2-3 users whose long rants I can read all of, because they're just so entertaining. And I completely agree about the innovation aspect. I'm game for new twists if they'll work well, but if they interfere with the gameplay or are just an excuse to "make the game longer" then forget it, I want no part of it.

I do think they should do an Unleashed route and have the HD versions get one version of the game with DLC for it, and the Wii getting the same game in concept but different stages.

Amen to that brother. DLC was nice back in the days when it was like an expansion pack for a PC game where you got tons of new areas and levels but now it seems like game companies are just using that to nickel and dime gamers. Probably the worst offenders are A) DLC released THE SAME DAY as the game is and B) DLC that is actually on the disc and they're making you pay to unlock it.

SASASR's $5 DLC to get Metal Sonic and a Death Egg stage. No more characters or content were ever released.

LBP's nickel and diming for special costumes and in game decorating items.

And gamers are already mad that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 cut back its roster from MvsC2 just so they could charge for additional characters though so far the ones that were added were free.

I can't help but wonder if THIS isn't the real reason for devs snubbing the Wii because they would have to release versions with the DLC already available and know they couldn't nickel and dime on DLC for Wii versions. Nintendo: "You wanna make games for us, put everthing on the damn disc you lazy money grubbers."

And don't give me the "used games" sob story. Maybe the reason so many games are on the used racks is because they're not worth hanging onto.

I laugh at people who complain that Nintendo is behind on the "DLC bandwagon". Animal Crossing City Folk is bad enough without having to pay extra for meaningless furniture, and having to buy extra characters in Brawl would just be annoying. And yet these are the same people that complain that games are too much?!?!

Speaking of bad DLC, this made me crack up:

Capcom and EA are the most in common with DLC. I mean Capcom are bringing the SSF4 DLC with a few new characters for $15.chocolate1325

Yeah, Capcom and EA are awful with DLC, but Rockstar is by far the best with DLC.

This is a little OT, but is it still okay to make fun of Sonic? Like I dont mean in a whiny fanboy kind of way, but is it now a blasphemy to crack a joke about sonic?

I just want to know because I write for a comedy group that specializes in gaming, so yeah, something on my mind.
