Sonic Rush HAS to get a 3rd, but if Riders does, I have to ask "why".
And I don't think Sonic will ever quite return to his former glory. Too many "fans" or the Genesis games that say everything past the Genesis sucks, and too many critics ready to bash every flawed detail of the game.

Sonic Rush deserves another game because they have been brilliant and bring back memories of the classic Sonic gameplay.

I'd welcome another installment in the Rush series as it has been one of Sonic's best series of recent years.

As for Riders, if Sega does do another, they really need to make signifcant improvements meaning online play, simpler learning curve and ditch the boring story mode.

And better graphics. None of this "looks just like PS2/GCN/Xbox" crap. This is the next generation, Sega! Wake up and smell the coffee.

This game could be good, if SEGA take their time with it. It looks pretty good and I heard that the cameras have been fixed. I'm not getting over-excited yet but this may be the turning point to the series. The Sonic Rush series is great and I hope this game will be a lot better than Sonic '06. At least they ditched the whole Sonic x Elise idea :D I hate that anyway...

Well, what got me cautiously optimistic was them saying that this game even in its unfinished state already ran much smoother than the finished product of Sonic 06. That's a pretty good sign. So we know that this will hopefully be free of the bugs and glitches and constant load screens of Sonic 06. Let's just hope the controls work.

I'm wary. I don't want to get my hopes up in case of crushing disappointment.

Oh, and I've played Sonic '06. After about 5 minutes I lost the will to live.

The demo was bad enough, but I still want to beat it just to say I beat the worst 3D Sonic ever.

Maybe so, but buying that game is like burning money. Which then spreads through your entire house.

I remember going to Gamestop and playing the Sonic 06 demo. When I heard the first E3 reports, EGM said the game still had the same sloppy controls as previous 3D titles and honestly if it controlled like, say, Sonic Heroes, I could deal with that but then the reviews came out and they weren't just average, they were downright abysmal and I said "is it really THAT bad?" so I played the demo.

I remember trying to run forward and trying to smash some boxes and it sent me off a cliff. Then I attempted to grind on a rail and jump off. That killed me. Then there was the whole jumping on a series of ropes to get higher and I managed to survive that somehow. Then I grinded on a windstream and tried to jump through the colored ring for points and died but somehow I grabbed hold of the Eagle and made it to the goal and I was amazed that the controls were actually WORSE than past 3D Sonic games. I turned around and decided to wait for Secret Rings.

I know, it surprised me, too. I found myself saying "And I thought SA2's controls were clunky!" after my first playthrough of it.

I never played Sonic Next Gen and even though I have never played it the game looked a complete mess and it was totally unplayable. I hope Sonic Unleashed doesn't turn out that way but SEGA said they were gonna return Sonic to his roots in Sonic Next Gen and look what happened.

Yeah, that's reason why I won't buy the game just yet, I'll wait for the review, and see what they have to say. I never played Sonic 06, but I can imagine how bad It can be just playing that game.

I'm sure this'll receive special attention from critics due to its high profile nature. I'd imagine reviews will begin surfacing a few days prior to the game's release, and we can always count on Nintendo Power to give us something to chew on a few weeks in advance.

Not really. Dad stopped there on the way home from a trip to buy something for his camera. I, extraordinarily bored, wandered about and saw the demo station.

Yeah, right. It went something like this. (I won't use your name)

sonicphc and his dad were on their way home, (in a car, of course) and all sonicphc could think about was the new Sonic game on the Xbox360.

Dad: Well, son, we're almost home.

sonicphc: Sonic. Next Gen. Graphics. Speed. Must. Play...

Dad: Son, are you alright?

sonicphc: *is sweating bullets* GASP!

Suddenly, sonicphc spotted Circuit City, and knew that day, he had a date with destiny! And that destiny was blue. And fast.

sonicphc: Dad, make a turn here, quick!

Dad: What for?

sonicphc knew he was broke, so he couldn't make a legitimate excuse to go to Circuit City to lay his eyes on that brand new game and experienced it for himself.

sonicphc: I need to go to the bathroom! Quick! I can't hold it!

Dad: But son, we're almost home. It can wait until -

As quick as a flash, sonicphc grabbed the steering wheel, and forced the car into the Circuit City parking lot. Seeing his son was determined, his Dad decided to at least let sonicphc go into the store to avail himself of the facilities

Dad: Don't take too long, we need to get home in time for dinner. We can't keep your mother waiting!

As fast as he could, sonicphc ran like Sonic the Hedgehog into the store, frantically searching for SONIC THE HEDGEHOG! He quickly found the Xbox360 section, and at last, he found Sonic Next gen! He walked over to the screen, staring at it. He drooled as he soaked it all in. The beautiful water, the gorgeous trees, Sonic's sexy, red sneakers. This was the moment he'd been waiting for...for MONTHS! While staring at the screen, he moved over to the controller, but his daze was rudely interrupted by the realization that someone was already standing there, with the controller in his hand. sonicphc bumped into the person, as they gave him a rude look. sonicphc had come too far to lose now. If he didn't play the demo right THEN, he may NEVER have a chance! He did what any sane man would've done. With all his might, he let out a "FALCONE PAWNCH!" and knocked the poor soul unconscious. He knew he couldn't leave the body there, so he quickly looked up and saw a bargain bin full of PS2 games. He quickly threw the body into the pile and covered it up with more PS2 games in the huge bin. He ran over the the 360 and began to play the game. For 2 seconds, he was in heaven. But then, the unthinkable happened! He hit the slide button! Oh no! Sonic began sliding around uncontrollably and was sent down into the lake where he died. sonicphc was determined to beat the demo. No matter what! He played and played until his dad came into the store and found him. After arguing with his father for a good 2 minutes, his father pulled him away from the controller by force, and dragged him all the way out of the store. And since then, he despised Sonic Next Gen. The game he never knew... *sniffle*

That was what happened, right? :)

I'm really looking forward to this game. I'll probably be getting the Wii version. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people hated this game like they do with some other 3D Sonic games. I actually liked Shadow The Hedgehog.

Okay. We're WAAAAAY of topic by now. I predict this game will get pushed back into January so it doesn't have to compete with alll the super high profile releases around christmas time.

Sega has a tendency to release its games in the January/February window. Just retrospect at the past several years, and you'll see that there's been at least one Sonic game released in that time period. Personally, I'd love to see Unleashed get pushed back. It would prove that Sega cares. Also, like you said, post-Christmas is rather quiet, since all of the big developers and publishers have already emptied their share of software.

I don't want an unfinished Sonic game like Sonic Next Gen. I think SEGA will delay it because Sonic RPG comes out sometime late in 2008.

Sega rarely delays a game, especially a Sonic game, and as Miyamoto said "a delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever." I think we all know that Sonic 06 suffered from being rushed out when it clearly wasn't ready. Sega forced the limited team to shove the game out in time for the PS3 launch and we got the glitchy, buggy mess it was.

Delaying it would be a good idea, especially with Chronicles coming out this fall and in general, a lot of us feel that it would be better for Sega to cut back on making so many Sonic games and instead devote time to tweaking and polishing the ones they're working on instead of rushing them out for quick cash.

If you've noticed in recent years, Sega has taken to making liscenced gamese based on cartoons and movies. These games suck as always (see Iron Man reviews) but in this sense, Sega can make easy cash of these medicore titles instead of mutilating Sonic to no end for quick cash.

Let's see how this title shapes up at "E for All."
