It seems that it doesn't matter who the Capitals put between the pipes, they always seem to do a pretty good job.

Holtby has been really good. They have good scouts on goaltenders.

And Ovie is heating up as he should and Semin is playing well.

They're a force to be reckoned with for sure.

Caps will definitely make a run this year. Though it's still pretty amazing that Crosby still leads Ovie by seven goals.

Huge game tonight for the Leafs. Always tough against the Sabers. Do-or-die game for them.

EDIT: Well, no surprise, already a goal for the Sabers. Leafs gotta get the PP going!

Yes players DO know where it is. Yet players get hit there more often than not. Not everyone has gotton hurt. Sure the puck wasn't there. Hits do happen away from the puck. It's hockey after all.

Yeah, but when you put a lick on a guy that effects his vertabrae, you should at least get some kind of consequence. An example needed to be set here.

Suspending a guy for causing injury on a clean hit is BS. As I said in my first post Matt Cooke who delivered a dirty hit did not get any consequence. The example should've been set there.

Leafs win! Stay in the playoffs hunt! Reimer was huge tonight, 39 saves. Great win.

This is the Leafs at the moment.

F*** YEAH REIMER

And Kessel, I am still not understanding how people here can be hating him, he is on pace to score more goals this season than last season.

And look at the number of assists over goals Ovechkin has gotten. That usually doesn't happen with hi

I missed the last period and OT of the Caps vs. Blackhawks game. :(

Pretty good game from what I saw and the Caps won. :D

The 'Hawks have battled their way into OT the past two games for one point each.

That's definitely better than losing, but they need to defeat the Sharks today.

Niemi usually plays them marvelously. :/

Hawks have been playing hot the past month, if they make the playoffs (which I'm sure they will, but the WC is so tight), I would hate to play them.

Interference is a penalty. Something completely different. You can get an interference call without hitting someone. There is no evidence that makes this a dirty hit. A place on an ice, a penalty, and an injury do not qualify for a dirty hit. Should I mention the Matt Cooke hit again?

The Sharks went down hard after a strong second period.

They're comfortable again... for now.

They should sideline Crosby? http://network.yardbarker.com/nhl/article_external/eklund_for_the_good_of_the_gameshut_down_crosby_for_the_season/4395894 What a rollercoaster the season can be, for the second straight year it seems the Kings rebound from the dumps and now they are 3 points back of the 3 seed in the West.

Ehhhh...Eklund. Crosby probably should though, I agree. It was incidental for sure IMO, but the Penguins sure are doing great without him and Malkin.

Big win tonight. Every win now is big. Winnable game tomorrow in Florida. Reimer comes up big again, and Phaneuf showing signs he's back (Kaberle trade may of sparked him). Luke Schenn continues to be our best D-man. Only player in NHL with 150+ blockes shots and 200+ hits. What a beast.

EDIT: Nooooooo!:cry:Giguere is starting tomorrow:cry:

Congrats to the Canucks, division winners with 103 points. Watching that game last night was painful though. I don't mind losing if the players are giving it their all,but the Avs have basically given up. No hustle to the puck, more than half the time they watched Vancouver skate and pass around them. During the off-season, they need to evaluate who cared and who didn't and start making some changes.

They have had a great chance the past two years. Sedins have to do what they did last year..again. Luongo has to actually play well in the playoffs, and they have to pray they don't face Chicago:P But they have more depth than they have had the past 2 years.

Agree. Lemieux looks foolish too IMO. I think it was at the Gm meetings where he said that repeat offenders should get a lot of games and the TEAM should be fined? I doubt he would want to pay $1 million. He should keep his mouth shut until he gets Cooke off his team. And why the heck is he an Assistant Captain?

Yup... the Penguins were in control of that game until they took stupid penalties. Matt Cooke is total garbage as far as I'm concerned. It's hilarious that MARY-O Lemieux is crying to the League about stuff and he has the biggest @-hole cheap shot artist in the league. If they want to really start sending a message on these cheap shots to the head... the NHL should suspend Cooke 10 games or more. Being he's a repeat offender I'd be fine with him getting 15 so he finally gets the message. Rangers are an interesting team to keep an eye on in the playoffs. They are young and gritty... have a top Goalie and play pretty good defensively. They've actually owned the Caps this year and would play them in the 7-1 matchup if the playoff started tomorrow.

The Dallas asking price was way to high. They wanted everybody for Richards. Staal, Dubinsky and more. The Rangers were smart to keep the young guys and they'll go after Richards as a free agent. Richards has already said the only other team he wants to play for besides Dallas would be the Rangers and John Tortorella who he won a cup with in Tampa. Rangers are building the team smart going with mostly youth and a few veteran leader type guys mixed in. It's similar to how Chicago built their cup team. Ya gotta keep the nucleus together a few years and they all of a sudden begin to click. If the Rangers could add Richards as a FA in the off season they could become a legit Cup contender next season.

I posted that link on age 48...I love how Mario has to eat his words about that. I wish I was a reporter, "So Mario, what's your stance on what you said last week and how much do you think the Penguins should be fined???""

Tip of the hat to Colin Cambell and the NHL coming down hard on that piece of garbage, repeat offender M.Cooke... suspending him for the remainder of the regular season(10 games) and the first round of the playoffs! Now that's how you send a message to these cheap shot artists! Go chew on that Cooke suspension Mary-O!

Colin Campbell and the NHL finally got one right, but it's kind of sad that it took such a dirty play from a repeat offender for it to happen. Almost everyone, including most Pens fans, were calling for Cooke's head this time.

while i don't disagree with the fact that they suspended cooke for that length of time, i will not be happy if in the future, similar hits are not dealt with in similar fashion. if it were up to me, ALL hits to the head, knowingly or incidental, would be dealt with severe penalties. it would force players to be more aware of what they're doing and not leave anything up to interpretation.

I actually (kinda) wish they were a bit soft, and Mario would come out and say "Look, I mean't what I said, and this was one of those hits, so I'll deal with it myself." Not saying he can't but it's already severe enough so he probably won't hurt his team and player more. If it was softer, I could see him doing that. I wonder if the NHL thinks this kinda makes up for not doing anything after the Savard hit.

Cooke: "I need to change".

No duh. I still don't get why some Pens fans I've heard on the radio or in comments on news stories (my friend included) are defending him and this hit.
