We have a very different approach to exclusives than some of our competitors. We don't buy exclusivity. We don't fund development. We don't, for lack of a better term, bribe somebody to only do a game on our platform. We earn it by saying "you can build a better game on our platform. If you focus your development on our platform, you wil ultimately be mroe successful. We can try to partner up with you from a marketing standpoint. But just economically and technologically this is the system that makes the most sense to you"

I think what you'll see now is a lot more exclusive features if a publisher wants to sell the same franchise on multiple platforms. I think the thing that you so aptly pointed out is, 15 exclusive alone just from us. You know, if we were working on three games, it doesn't make for a very exclusive list, but if we got 15, we've got a larger exclusive list before the third party comes to you with an exclusive. You almost get to the point where Nintendo's at, where they can do it without third parties, but I don't know if that makes for a healthy enviroment. I think we sit perfectly in the middle. Microsoft is too dependant on the third-party community, and Nintendo is to dependent on first-party. We like to feel that we got a pretty good mix.Jack Tretton

Yea, I agree with that last part too.

One of the reasons Nintendo has a hard time getting third party developers on their side is because they will have to compete with Nintendo's first party titles. If you look at any sales chart on any Nintendo console, it's most likely that it's dominated by Nintendo developed games.

and heavenly sword...mmmm beautiful! I can't even tell you how many times I've played the demo, sooo much fun!! I keep finding new special ways to kill enemies.. keeps me rediculously entertained....

What is Heavenly Sword about? From what I've heard she's an angel or warrior of god who was sent to take down a ruthless king or some thing...is this correct? Andraxal

No, she's trying to use the sword to help save her father. The sword is extremely powerful, and it sounds like it's sort of like the ring in Lord of the Rings, where people cannot turn down the power of the sword. and the blade itself lusts for blood. Thus, a race of people who could withstand the sword's calling have been guarding it for centuries (if I remember correctly), so that men don't die needlessly because of the blade's lust for war. But now the blade comes into use again, in the hands of this woman. I'm unclear as to how she can wield it without succumbing to it's power, but apparently she can. It tells you all of this at the end of the demo if you leave it sitting there for long enough. I'm sure you could find the "legend" of the sword somewhere on youtube or something.

Oh wow. That's not as epic as I thought. :( I could've sworn she was a warrior of god sent to take down a King or some thing.... I dunno now.... :( Andraxal

Well I wouldn't be surprised if she is trying to take down a king, and she's gotta be pretty powerful and special to be able to wield the blades without being consumed. Honestly, the gameplay is fantastic enough that the storyline barely even matters, but it does sound really good. Watch the "legend" at least before you decide. It makes it sound pretty epic, and it's gotta be a pretty huge war because of how many soldiers are trying to kill her/ get in her way.

What ever do you mean? The story ALWAYS matters! :roll: :) I never got to play a demo unfortunately. :( I would like to see what demos the local Walmarts PS3 has, however it's always in the hands of grubby little children, and they broke the controller already! :D Andraxal

If you've seen gameplay videos of heavenly sword, and they haven't convinced you, then this is not the game for you. If you have played, and enjoyed, god of war you will love this game, no doubt about it. Of course it's a hack and slash game, but there are so many cool combos/ stances, that make it awesome. Plus, because it has a family twist, it makes it more than just GoW with a female main character. It distinguishes it. The story seems intreaguing, really.

Hmmm. I never got to play God of War, I rented the first one but it was cracked, so I took it back and got another copy it was scratched so badly beyond being able to play. So I went back to Hollywood video, a year later to rent God of War II, and it won't work on my PS2.....I rented it like twice just to see.....So I've pretty much given up on the God of War series... :( Andraxal

Have you played Okami? I loveeee it! I was also thinking about luminous arc, but I haven't heard any opinions yet.

I REALLY wanted to rent Okami.... :( However they don't carry it at the Hollywood Video here...and rentals are like 7$...Andraxal

Yeah I hate renting games.. feels like I'm throwing my money away. Okami is worth the price tag imo though.

yes, you play as the wolf, which makes it really unique. The whole game actually is really unique, from artwork, to the battle system..

On topic: Has anyone played the Ace Combat games? Especially 5: The Unsung War? Or Belkan War? My god those games' TRULY blew me away, the only way a great Square Enix game can! I'm VERY bummed about the new one going over to the EVIL Xbox360 machine of doom......

The game was okay, I only played because the strory was written by R.A. Salvatore one of my favorites fantasy writers, also you get to play with one of the main characters of his novels, Drizzt Do'Urden.

Yeah his books are pretty cool, I'm currently reading on my way to work, the Cleric QuintetFenian_lostsoul

the cleric quintet was the first set of books I read that were written by him. I fell in love with his writing because of that series.

You can play as Dritz also in the two other Forgotten Realms games called Baldurs Gate, and Baldurs Gate 2: Deadly Alliance. :) He's a hidden character, both of those games were actually pretty good. The job systems felt balanced, for the most part, except like the healing class because it was nearly impossible end game to solo, I only recommend you play that game with a friend-it'll make things much better. :) Andraxal

Yeah I know I finished Both, and also the Dark Alliances Serie for the PS2, in the 2nd you get to play as Artemis Entreri, who in my opinion is way cooler than Drizzt

So I just won an auction on EBay for .hack//Quarantine - WOO-HOO!! I know it's an old game but it's out of circulation and really hard to find. It's criminal what you end up paying for games like these but one has to make one's collection complete, right??

So I was checking out those screen shots of Odin Sphere from an earlier post and, Hello! How cute!! I will definitely be looking into that one too.

Well, anyway. Odin Sphere's battle system is a very fast-paced real-time action hack-n-slash. It's also a 2D scroller so that adds to the fun. The menus are easily accessible through the touch of a button and there's lots of use of combos and such.

Yeah the Disgaea games are hard, to extremely hard. I think that makes them more appealing to me, and the level 9,999 cap. :) You can do billions of damage in combos, they have over the chart special attacks, crazy exploding penguins, cross dressing overlords, Prism Rangers which are spoofs off of the power rangers, and metrosexual self obsessed womanizers. The customization in that game is FAR beyond ANYTHING I've EVER played before. No other game has EVER come close, except maybe the sequels to the games.

Does anyone else play Nippon Ichi games, or Atlus games? I love the Atelier Iris series, but has anyone played the 2nd one or the third one? I am having issues finding them lately, and they're probably cheaper by now. Andraxal

I've only played Disgaea 2 from Nippon Ichi, good game, not great but a fun ole game. From Atlus I've played La Pucelle Tactics and Rhapsody...those are the ones that come to mind right now.

I want Lair to release......got it on pre-order...just have to wait a few more days :evil:
