How do you prefer your Final Fantasy's? With a little more emphasis on fantasy? More so on a technological world. Perhaps more like the Advent children like action? Politically intriguing, with bickering/backstabbing politicians? One that they have not done is a love story. I think most of them have good love stories however, it is not based solely on it. An example would be if Tifa was kidnapped by Kefka, and you had to go save her. Perhaps another female character may fall in love with you, and you could develop feelings for her while trying to save Tifa? I've yet to see one done exactly like that, don't get me wrong I know most of them have love stories, but they aren't played out to the fullest. [Except for FFIX which can get deluded by other story arcs]

I think my favorite is the political one though. I love seeing a great story being pulled off by political intrigue, and passionate power struggles. I love to see conflicts with secret motivations behind them. :) I love plot twists, and this kind appeals to me the best.

I voted Pure Fantasy, that's why I didn't like FFVII and FFVIII. FFVI was great mix between Pure Fantasy and Technological, there was robots firing laser and all but every soldiers were fighting with a sword. I loved the MagiTek because they were giant robots (technological) infused with magical powers (pure fantasy).

Oh I agree. I love the perfect blend like that. :D However I like pure fantasy when implemented into a political story.

I'd like another grungry, dirty feeling Final Fantasy. I think Final fantasy is just going to be what the doctor ordered too, however it doesn't apeal to me unfortunatly. :( I'm not spending $60 on a game either, even if it is the newest Final Fantasy....

I guess mine would be technological. I mean, I kinda like the idea of playing an epic game that looks like (or can possibly look like soon) the world I live in, or, playing a game with a cyber-punk feel to it. Political and Love are nice too, but, I'm not sure I'd want love to be the only focus of the game, and I get my fix of political themes in Metal Gear or watchin' 24.

I wouldnt object to love and politics both playing ahuge role in a FF though, even if it meant not too muchsci-fi.

i vote political because i like the lies and all the backstabbing a political story brings to the table and i like the fact that politcal story usually shows someone's rise and someone's downfall

I vote political because, just like Jayvon said, I like to see the betrayal and corruption within that government, and power being taken by the people.

Hahaha! It seems like everyone around here prefers a more political story. I wish they'd do a strategy RPG on the PS3 with great graphics, story and a job system, that might actually entice me to buy a PS3. :)

Hmmm. I'm really torn when it comes to Square Enix games on the 360. I'd prefer the all new next generation games stay on the PS3 because I don't want to switch game machines to play my favorites. The only Final Fantasy I know of that the Xbox has is FFXI, and I'd be happy if it stayed that way. I don't want to buy one of those damnable machines to play the newest Final Fantasy, ESPECIALLY when they have those "Red Lights of Doom" epidemics going around. (Oops made it sound like a disease. Haahaha~)

Yes. Not on the Xbox though. Yeah the Xbox has issues with it, and it should'nt have been put on the consoles to begin with. It should've been left on the PC. Because it expands so much it consumes more and more of your memory card...I mean it's a MASSIVE game. I've heard people are able to cheat on the Xbox version, and that it has horrible connection issues too.

Dunno, but a lot. Hahahahaha~ You'd understood better if you'd played it. A lot of things of FFXI can't really be explained unless you witness its grandiosity first hand.

Well as a game, it is extremely large...It has different continents all of which you can explore to the every nook and cranny. It has underground places, sky fortresses, alternate dimentions, land of eternal slumber, ruins of the gods, an arena, a place of nothingness, and all the different types of geological land masses you can think of!! It's not just a game, it's a way of life! Hmmm. The Red lights of Doom are when your Xbox360 goes KAPOOT! It suddenly stops working which happens to some of the older models. It's completely unfixable unless you send it in to get fixed. It is completely random too but happens more if you play Xbox games. It can completely devistate you emotionally and make you a weeping wreak. It is blamed on the sealing on one of the pieces which cracks-at least I think that's what it is; however Cecil will correct me later undoubtedly.

You're right. Partly right.

Those lights do mean death, but it's not always the case.

Sometimes it's your electrical outlet. When you plug it in a different outlet, it won't get those lights anymore. that's what happen to mine. I got my 360 the week it came out, and I'm still using it.

Others, it's because you left it on too long, it overheated. MS actually warns you to let it cool.

Also, PS3's breakdown too. My friend's broke down 3 times. He had to get 3 different PS3s. The third one works, but the others didn't, so he had to take them back.

the 360 isn't the only console to breakdown, PS3s can too. I know all of you will ignore this part of the post because it tells the truth, and you don't want to hear a bad thing about the oh so glorious PS3, but guess what? The PS3 isn't that indistructable and can break down too.

It's 3 lights that show on your 360 (exactly like the pic) that means your 360 is dead. You gotta send it back to Microsoft to get it fixed.

Take it easy man, this is not the system wars board, most of the people here are very open minded about those topics :P. I'm a play station fan(the only gaming console that i didn't buy from sony, is a gba), also I just receantly got my PS3, but I will agree with you that the PS3 can break down as easily as 360, in fact, my friend's PS3 just broke down last month.

Oops. I guess you're right we did get a little side tracked. Is anyone excited about the new Final Fantasy Tactics? I wonder what the story will be like, it seems like it's going to be light hearted. The main character Luso doesn't seem to mind Ivalice as much as Marshe, so perhaps he's going to stay in it?

I had to say all that, since most people are ignoring that fact(Gabranth).

Moving on, I think they shouldn't start doing spinoffs for Tactics.

I wanted to get a 360 but I'm the kind of guy who plays 15 hours non-stop (well, I eat and go to the bathroom :P) so I decided to keep my money for a Wii.

I don't really trust Sony, my PS2 is dead and I don't want to pay 600$ for a console that will eventually break down.

Anyway, thanks for telling me what it is, Gabranth, Cecil. ;)

[QUOTE="Andraxal"]Dunno, but a lot. Hahahahaha~ You'd understood better if you'd played it. A lot of things of FFXI can't really be explained unless you witness its grandiosity first hand. queen_valentine

You know you are talking about a game and not the bible right? haha just kidding :P

hahahaha, lmao

I voted pure fantasy. Although I'd prefer a mix of fantasy, technological and political.

I agree with you 100 percent. Something like the book series Apprentice Adept by Piers Anthony. This set of books had it all, love, war, magic, technology, self willed machines, etc. A Fantasy world with magic and unicorns existing in another dimension over lapping a technological world. In both worlds a political war was raging. The main character Stile who is a serf, found a way to go between the worlds, because his counter self in the fantasy world was killed. The unicorns could shape shift into two other shapes. The main unicorn of the story, a girl, could take human and firefly forms. Stile being from the techo side had trouble mastering magic. The four book series was a great read and have always thought it had ideas to create a great rpg game. The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind would work too.

Anyway, thanks for telling me what it is, Gabranth, Cecil. ;)

No prob. I haven't heard of PS2s breaking down.

Hm...this is an interesting question.

Technology ranks first for me, because I can see into the imagination of the writers, and it allows me to experience a new, original world. Presumably. But technological, political, and love stories all together would make the FF best game, I think. Case in point: FFVI.

It's interesting to me that so many of y'all value a political story. I appreciated the political storyline of FFXII, but it wasn't sufficient to create a great experience (in my opinion). If I want a complicated political story, I can read a foreign news site--I prefer individual journeys and personal growth in my RPGs. Of course, having a rich setting and time period makes a game better...it's just not my top priority.

I have to agree. FFVI had a political story(a little bit). I thought XII could of elaborated on it and made it more complex, but t was a good start.

"I had to say all that, since most people are ignoring that fact(Gabranth).

Moving on, I think they shouldn't start doing spinoffs for Tactics."

I never said that the PS3 was the end all machine, I don't beleive it is. I do however think in quality, I'd trust Sony over Microsoft. Are you considering the DS when calling it a spin off? I'd consider that a full story so far, it seems to be an original story, not a spin off really.

How did FFVI have a political story aside from the few scenes involving the Empire. I wouldn't rate that as a political story. And yes, in political stories there is character growth, usually tons of it. [FFT] If it is done correctly, it can be really ground breaking. Yeah, FFXII story seemed to die out pretty fast. I think this is due to switching directors though. I'd have to agree FFXII's story didn't really move me in any way.

heh, I was starting to think I might be the only one who picked technology first. That's a nice way of putting it though.

Yea. I think what makes mixing all of those elements together is that it adds realism to fantasy. Here in the real world, we have love, politics and technology, but no fantasy. So if we add the first three to a fantasy-filled world it adds something that we can relate to, but still in a setting where we can use our imaginations and admire something truly unique.

the next final fantasy game should have a deep storyline since these upcoming ones might be the last ones. i wanna play a final fantasy game with a great storyline i mean all the storylines was average at best but i want it to be deeper filled with lots of twists and turn like multiple paths, endings and a harder final boss. to me (who loves challenging games) games are becoming easierand easier for the average dumb gamers and hardcore gamers areleft with little or no games to satify their challengelevel

This is hard to choose from, I like Technological Fantasy, like VII/VIII, but I also like Political storylines like FFTactics/XII.

I'd have to go with Political, they're just far too intriguing and complex to overlook. I enjoy a good story to an RPG and the political ones typically have the best ones out there (FFTactics) So, Political gets my vote :P

Well it was a war between Resistance and Empire. If you don't think that's political then you must not know the word(no offense). It started like that, but after the "treaty" it became more magical.

Andraxal

when you say the 'new Final Fantasy Tactics' do you mean the PSP remake or the GBA? Either way, i really enjoy political fantasies and I think i would pick that over a purely fantasy based or political based game. As for technical, i think it belongs elsewhere. If used lightly, i don't mind, but i don't want a game that's too technical. somehow i feel as though it takes away from the whole experience of rpg gaming. but this is coming from a fan of the xenosaga games :)

The Final Fantasy Tactics I'm referring to is called Grimore No Fuketsu. (sp?) It's about a boy named Luso who gets transported into the REAL Ivalice, and decides instead of going home, he likes it in the new world. :) It's comming out for the Nintendo DS. It's the last game in the Ivalice Project I beleive.

Wearing a painter's hat does not make one gay That's very homophobicor narrow minded of you, there's nothing wrong with effeminate males. Even if he was, there's nothing wrong with it. They're also being creative, and original, nothing wrong with that either. You shouldn't see things in such black and white. :(

Ever since Sephiroth many animes have copied his hair...Anyone else notice that? The guy Alan from Escaflowne seems almost an EXACT copy looks wise. There's nothing wrong with guys with long hair, I think people are WAY to quick to judge if someones gay I think it's because people love to see the worst out of other people, and pray upon the scandalous nature which I beleive is the tabloids, and paparazzi's fault. Hollywood types really annoy and disgust me. I've seen them up close and personal, and they are really obnoxious.

Hahahaha. It's all gravy~ The hat is pretty cool though, not many Final Fantasy characters have a hat like that! :( Don't knock the originality, after all, that is what we've sought from this company for soooooo long.
