I don't even partically count FFXI as an FF, haha. Not that I've played it...Lady_Bahamut
Why not? Just cause it has online play and no story dosen't mean it's not Final Fantasy!!! Or maybe it does :(
Probably FF X-2. There wasnt really a strong story line it was like do what ever you feel like. There was some story but it was kinda weak. The fighting was ok. The missions were meh at best. Seemed more like lots of mini games then just like other final fantasy games where it revolves around your charecters more. The classes were wierd? you got dress speres instead of classes. The game was also really short i found.Jmah1337
I disagree, it was very fun game and my first FF game, unless you count KH as one
Least Favorites : FFX, FFX-2, and FFVIII.
Never really like the characters, or the story line. Couldn't get into it, and with FFX system with the sphere grid just killed it for me, and then a follow up with FFX-2 was another horrible game connected to an even more horrible game. FFVIII just didn't like at all, characters, story line everything bleh...WSGRandomPerson
We're never going to get along, you just bashed three of my top four favourite final fantasies, and two of my top 5 games of all time. 8, 10, and 10-2 had my favourite characters of all time connected to the most intreaguing storylines that made me fall in love with the games completely.

finally, some people who agree with me (celes and yuna):). i hated final fantasy VIII because of the whole draw system, and the weapon system was terrible to. and i loved FFX-2, if you finish it100% the story kicks ass, the battle system is good and the dress spheres are awesome.darkcloud6
Yeah!! I really disliked the draw system and I thought the weapon managing was awful. Honestly, in that game there was really no use for weapons as in big boss fights I always ended up using GFs for the most part (and some magic).

Me too, which is another reason I didn't like VIII. I never found any other effective way to attack/take out any large amount of damage apart from the GF's and this was during normal battles too. Although, I'll say it again, its been YEARS since I played FFVIII and I can't really remember if that is correct or not. I just remember having to rely on GF's alot.

I guess I didn't really get far enough into the game to get to the point where it was "too easy". Plus, I didn't realize that the enemies leveled up with you, so I tried to level normally. I never really got to the point where my GFs were superpowered... *shrugs* I liked the drawing system.
Wow---weapons against big bosses were great....you guys obviously arent very good at FFVIII----weapon management on that was easy as pie-and its easy to overcome the whole "enemy levels up with you" bit...
Aura + Lionheart=win

Whoa.... I never said I didn't junction things properly... I said that I didn't play far enough through the game for it to be necessary to have full junctions. I found it super easy WITHOUT maxing out my spells and junctions.... What I liked about the game was how easy it was. Careful not to jump to conclusions about the quality of gamers we are......

It was very easy, but overkill after awhile.
^ Yes, that is truth.
I hated FFXII when I first heard about it - played the demo and fell in love. Grabbed the game on launch day and XII quickly became one of my favs! ^_^
I hated FFXII for about the first 4 hours.. you can ask my ex.. haha.. I screamed and complained constantly that they had ruined my beloved final fantasy series. But luckily I kept playing, and finally got a hold of the battle system, and then seriously fell in love with it. The game is nothing like the first two hours, in my opinion... playing the very beginning really doesn't tell you much about the game. I'd definately suggest you give it another try..crushgoil
Alot of final fantasy games start a bit slow but they all pick up and have a nack of becoming some of the best games in history.

Ya...............Probably cause the storyline picks up by then............. i mean...... that is why we are playing RPG's isn't
Though just as an add.... i didn't particularly like XII's storyline too much as well as Most of its characters.... but it was , without a doubt, a good game.
Hmmm...Well, I have final fantasy I, II (Final fantasy I and II dawn of souls, as you can see) III (DS version) IX, X, FFTA (Final fantasy tactics advance) So here's the order of least liked to most liked starting with least liked:
final fantasy II
final fantasy I
final fantasy III
final fantasy X
final fantasy tactics advance
final fantasy IX
I'm not a huge fan of FFII, I love FFI, FFIII For DS is awsome, FFX is quite good but with some flaws, FFTA is one of the best games I have ever played, And FFIX is just plain awsome.
I'm sad to see so much FF VIII bashing. It's probably the most unique of all the FF's with maybe an exception to XII. For it's time it was a visual work of art, the junction system allowed you complete customization of your characters, and the characters and story were charming. My least favorite of the FF's is II for NES. I've played the original NES game on an emulator and it is the most needlessly hard game I've ever played. Also I'm not a fan with the "What-doesn't-kill-you-makes-you-stronger" leveling up. Even when I figured out that hitting my own guys made them stronger as well as all the magic selection stuff it's still the most insane game ever. That's the opinion of somebody who's actually played every single FF.danmccarthy2
i didn't see anything wrong with the story or charactersof FFVIII (in fact i liked them). the main thing i didn't like about it was the draw system, it took way to long to drawa lot of magic, and because you could junction any magic (or GF)to any character it pretty much meant that every character was (almost) equal (except for the limit breaks).this is what makes FFVIII my least favourite.

Characters, Battle System, etc FFVIII had alot going for it..............
however............... The story.........................
(i forgot how to do spoiler tags :p)
alright The whole story is centered around a team led by Squall to Kill a Sorceress Who in the end turns out to be the cartaker of the Entire Team who happened to somehow find each other again ???? and some random girl who turns out to be a sorceress herself gets captured and the team and squall get her back....... Who both proclaim their love and Rinoa wants everything to stay as it is..................... and the main big boss wants to stop time ???? Correlation ??? Rinoa is Ultimecia ........... And the whole reason to fight was because Garden was invented to fight Sorceresses ??? um.... thats not a good reason...... iono i have my complaints.....this was more of a rant than a spoiler............
But i liked FFVIII because i enjoyed the battle system (not the long drawing but..... everything else) Summons looked cool, and if you played the game without thinking deeply into the storyline..... it seemed to make surface sense.....
^ i gotcha covered Kadaj :Pqueen_valentine
Thanky ^___^ Like a guardian Angel hovering over me to forgive me of my sins and change and guide my path to salvation.................
or its just my glorious Union Leader :P

Concerning FFXII, I'd rather an RPG be all gameplay and no story rather than the other way around.

I think an RPG should have a balance of both. If not, it should have a all story and no gameplay.

Meh i perfer Great story and great gameplay :D but a game with a good story and no gameplay is hard to play becuase without gameplay the is no fun.

So if the RPG had an awful story but good gameplay, you would play it?
EDIT: I perfer a great story and gameplay too(I mean, who doesn't:P ), but it rarely happens.

In a word, yes. However, if the reverse was true, I wouldn't be able to stick it out.

I don't really see how. I guess I need a good story in my RPG game.

I need a good story too, I can stand the gameplay if the story has my attention enough, but sometimes the gameplay can just kill a game for me and vice versa with story.

Exactly. I need a good story too. I thought RPGs should focus more on a good story than on gameplay.
