yeah, i loved the chocobo game. but there's no sidequests with big hard battles, thats what i meant :). i always find beating the c**p out of something really strong makes me feel good

there's always Ozma? but i agree - i guess compared to a game like FFXII, IX doesn't have much of boss sidequests. those hunts...wow - AMAZING.

He was a boss hidden behind a wall in the last area of the game.

If my memory serves me correctly (which it may or may not ;) ), you should still be able to find Hades as long as you have a save file before the final boss.

Yup, you should be able to find him, he is in one of the last areas of Memoria (where Quina thinks there is water). He has some good stuff to steal....(Robe of Lords mainly)

You will also be able to buy stuff from him if you beat him. I think you had to give him a certain item first.
Lol sorry to butt-in *shakes butt at everybody talking about FFIX*. Actually I probably least like FFIX the most. Mwhah! dont give me hate-crime XD Idk, I just couldn't grip ito the story for that game, it just got boring for me around the time I crossed over to the new continent on the 2nd disc. I think it was more of the setting of the game that kinda pluffed me off, cause I really liked the gameplay and music. How long is FFIX in length compared to others?
You may continue now :P
i hate ff9 the most because it is soooo hard to find a copy. ive not played it but i just cant find a copy its annoyingjohngebreadman
I got a new copy from Amazon last year. A friend of mine just bought one also from Amazon right before XMas for $20 US.
I didn't check but they may still have them.

My longest play in IX was around 30 some hours. About the same length as VII, for me anyway.
I got my copy of IX for Christmas the year it came out. :P
plus i spent all my cash on an ffx-2 guide today, now i only have vouchers for game, which is an awful shopjohngebreadman

I can't understand why anyone pays for strategy guides (especially those people that live in PAL regions) when there are sites like Gamefaqs.

Thats true. I suppose it depends how much of the strategy guide your actually using. I have say the GOTY edition of the Oblivion Strategy Guide, I think considering how much content it has it's quite worth getting a guide book, but other games which are pretty straightforward and/or don't have a lot of content aren't really worth paying a strategy guide, especially considering how expensive they are. You can always use Gamefaqs for anything =]
[QUOTE="TriEdgeFury26"]but still, idk strategy guides are kinda cool..........i own 4............collector's edition of XII, FF VII, Star Ocean TTEOT, and FF X-2.................S_Jake
Now I can understand people buying them for the artwork, but not as strategy guides.
Same i cant stand using them it ruins the game for me.

I also like them for the artwork and for complex games like Oblivion.
It is also nice to have them around since I like to get 100% in game completion. In my second replay of FF12:RW, I am using a guide (which has some great artwork in it!) to make sure I find what I missed the first time.

My main issue with strategy guides is that I can get reliable information for free at Gamefaqs. I've also had issues in the past with "Official" guides where the information in them hasn't been complete or has been inaccurate. Like I said, I can understand them being bought for the artwork, but not purely as strategy guides. :)

^ Very true. I've found that guides at GameFaqs are actually better than real or "official" guides. But the official guides have pretty pictures so it's a hard choice.... :P
I only own...4 guides I think. SM64 came free with a subscription to Nintendo Power, FFVIII's 'cause...the pictures were pretty ^_^, XII's for the artbook. Ok...that's 3, not four. XD

I agree! I don't like their site layout and the guides are generally incomplete.
I like it. It's very simple and easy to navigate, and there isn't much to load on the page except text so it loads quickly. Maybe scrolling down the list of a thousand games might be annoying a tiny bit lol but otherwise I think it's very good. Simple yet efficient!

I agree. I think that the search facility works sufficiently well enough so that the appropriate guide is easy enough to find. I also find it quicker and easier to search an individual guide for a particular item using "Ctrl + F" than I would with a hard copy.
To reply to Vaan's point, I usually find that I can find a complete guide for whatever game I'm playing, though I accept that a complete guide isn't always available if the game is brand new.

That is part of it. I also find that the user guides often contain spoilers (intentional or otherwise) and are missing a lot of content. If I'm going to use a guide at all, I may as well get a more complete and (much more often then the gamefaqs guides) spoiler free guide.
Some guides (user and otherwise) have errors but I find many more in user made guides. Actually, the few times that I've used a user guide, everyone one of them has errors that usually don't help when I get stuck somewhere. The FFX-2 user guides were the worst when I was trying to get 100% completetion!
Even if I don't use the guide while playing the game (which is most of the time), it is nice to look at after the game and remember the parts that the guide is talking about. :)
I didn't use guides for years and really dispised them. It seems thought that game developers are intentionally putting content in games that is virtually impossible to find without a guide. I started to look at them when a game had a bonus for doing certain task or acheiving completetion of the game. As many developers sponser "Official" guides, it is probably just another money source for them.

yes! Sometimes if I'm paging through a hard copy guide I wish I could just use Ctrl + F.
idk, I like gamefaqs, I've never really had any problems with it.
i like gamefaqs but i like official guides better, they give me somethng to read at school during lunch if i forget my psp, so i dotn have to talk to ppl. (im not very social)johngebreadman

I'm the same way. I'd rather read or play on my PSP or DS than talk to people most of the time during lunch. Guess I also really like "me" time during the day!
I like reading the guides after I finish the game also. It is kind of nice to sit and relive the game...
yet you talk to us? yes people are weird-hell im a self proclaimed oddball ;)Cronaroth
True.
Guess the difference here is that I consider people odd when they never play games!
I would also consider myself an odd ball.
No matter who I end up meeting, they all give me the nickname of crazy!
Did anyone else have issues with the leveling system in FF2?
This was my biggest complaint with this game. Leveling was easy when you attacked your own characters. Just something wrong with that!

More games do seem to be going to the system of making it automatic to tailor the characters to how you use them.
See this in a FF game would be very interesting...
