I don't know...I don't think I could play a game with crappy gameplay. Crap gameplay frustrates me. I want a game that works!queen_valentine

Yah..... If a RPG has a good story but crappy gameplay, its pretty much a movie you move around characters in:lol:

I need a good story too, I can stand the gameplay if the story has my attention enough, but sometimes the gameplay can just kill a game for me and vice versa with story.

IpodHero176

Exactly. I need a good story too. I thought RPGs should focus more on a good story than on gameplay.

Yeah, I'm all about the storylines... though some gameplay elements can really ruin games. For me, storylines ruin the game more than gameplay usually though.

Agreed. And I don't like the idea of spending £40-£50 on a movie. ;)

Such as FFXII... >_> Although, I really think it was only becaue it was an FF that it let me down so much. With an FF you expect a great story with great memorable characters, of which it had nither (apart from Balthier). Perhaps if it was any other game I may not have minded so much, but I don't know ^^; I think a game that got both gameplay and story PERFECT (although not a SE game) is Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant.

^ Good point about SH: Covenant, that game had great gameplay and a pretty good story along with memorable characters. Who could ever forget Grand Papillon?

Not I. His scenes were some of the funniest I've ever seen. I'll never forget the Tower of the Holy Ring either. ;)

Lady_Bahamut

Yeah. Most people thought that Vaan was another Tidus, and Ashe another Yuna. I thought they did good on the story, but the gameplay was a little too hard in places.

It does let you play, you just have to wait for about five hours first. ;) Seriously though, the pacing does get better after that.

Yeah, it does. I didn't mind the long cutscenes, and the gameplay was pretty good. Ep 3 has just as many cutscenes, but you move around a lot more.

 Yeah, I can understand that. I think that I only managed because I knew what I was letting myself in for beforehand, otherwise I'd probably be saying the same as you (even then I nearly didn't make it). It's a pity though, because it is a good game once you've got past all of the sequences in the first five hours.

Yeah, it is, but, we all have different opinions on things, which makes us who we are.

Celes hates Xenosaga, Yuna(correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't like FFVIII, and I don't like FFVII, which is alright since then we can help each other in recommending games to each other.

I think I'm rambling, but I had to say that:P

Lol seems like no one likes my oppinion of Final Fantasy X-2. But hey we all have our own oppinions and i respect yours :). Any who what i said was kinda hazy to me and im a bit to lazy to go find it but lets see. X-2 just really didnt appeal to me. You guys said it was fun yes well it was fun but not one of the best games ive ever played. To tell you the truth FF-X wasnt that hot eithor. NOW WAIT. let me say somthin before all you X loves go off on me. You have to admit FFX had some major problems. Like you cant really explore that much in it. You are guilded on a single path. You have to go straight to the end then fight sin no really place for exploring. It forces you to go there and do that. Even when you get the air ship you can only go to preset places. Also the fact that some monsters give really odd ammounts of exp but ill let that slide. Really the only thing that made me really mad was the fact that it baby sat u the way thought the game. Graphics and story were awsome. Sphere grid was cool. I already did my talk on X-2. 12 i also didnt really like. To tell the truth it didnt seem like a final fantasy to me. I never played 11 but i can kinda guess that 12 is like it. Due to the fact that 12 feels like it should be online. things also like gambits in that game made me mad. Makes the game to easy for my liking. Why play the game when the computer can do it for you? na i like playin the game for myself thx. Also 12 was really easy. now now i did say alot of mean things up there but i do like those games. Just not as much as the other FF's ive played. I liked 1 and 2. Those must have been godly for there times. I loved playing those games and for all of you who are flaming FF1-2 just remember.... It was made in like 1988 or somthin so lay off of them. They were made along time ago lol. But hey we all have our own oppinions so if you dont like it then ok. So out of all of the Ff's ive played i probably think its between X-2 or 12. they were all fun im not sayin they arnt but just i dont like some of the aspects in the games thats all.

I didn't see any posts flaming FF1 or FF2. Most of them were dislikes about FF3 DS.

YAY - someone who agrees with me about FFXII!!! The characters didn't feel developed enough because they had no unique personality's or individual way of fighting, plus you couldn't really 'connect' with the characters - they all seemed like empty shells. The story I felt was all over the place, with TOO many side-quests! I know we all love side-quests but come on - looking for more than 100 different monsters in 100 dfferent zones just for clan points! It was an ok game, but it just wasn't for me. YAY - I HATE FFXII!!! (even though i still play it...)

I personally don't think there's such a thing as "Too many side-quests", they don't HAVE to be done to complete the game. Hence the name SIDE-quests, you don't have to do them at all.

see that's my failing.. I can't complete a game unless I do everything... so if I get tired of the side quests.. I'll never beat the game.. In X I couldn't finish it because I couldn't get all of the ultimate weapons.... :(

Yeah I think the same way about it, the story it's the only thing that keep me playing it(there was some good stuff in there, but I won't spoil anything), even so I couldn't finished it(I'll do someday).

Hmmm...Well, I have final fantasy I, II (Final fantasy I and II dawn of souls, as you can see) III (DS version) IX, X, FFTA (Final fantasy tactics advance) So here's the order of least liked to most liked starting with least liked:

final fantasy II

final fantasy I

final fantasy III

final fantasy X

final fantasy tactics advance

final fantasy IX

I'm not a huge fan of FFII, I love FFI, FFIII For DS is awsome, FFX is quite good but with some flaws, FFTA is one of the best games I have ever played, And FFIX is just plain awsome.

MrSaturn33

Someone needs to get the released version of FFIV and FFVI for the GBA!

My least fav FF... Well lets see. I play most games for the gameplay but RPGs I usually play for the story. FFVIII just didn't do it for me. None of the characters grew on me. So I guess that would be my choice. This is given the fact that I haven't played any FF below V.

As a side note I find myself wondering how many if any chose FFVII as their least favorite?

FF7 isn't my least favourite, but it's not near the top of my list either....

9 is my least fav, followed by 3 and 1.... (not to mention that I don't consider 11 part of the true numbered system)

I'm going to have to say V is my least favorite. It just wasn't that interesting to me I totally wasnt absorbed by the story at all, got bored halfway through and it was the only one that I had to convince myself to continue playing to the end out of all of them.

For me, it was Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, because it didn't seem like a FF game at all and Final Fantasy I because it was punishing for me.:( I like FF's II through VI and the Tactics games. I still need to play VII through XII (Yes, I know, I don't own a PS2:() to really decide weather I like them or not.

For me, I would have to say FF2.

I haven't finished it yet but I don't like the leveling system in this one.

FF1 is a close second.

I liked FFVIII. The draw system was kind of a drag but I liked the story so that made up for it.

To be honest, I never really considered Mystic Quest to be a true FF game. If we're going to include FF related spin-offs, there are plenty of those that are worse than Mystic Quest (Ehrgeiz springs to mind...). Mystic Quest was pretty average, though.

DOC was bad in my opinion. I didn't really enjoy it at all. I'll trade it in once my friend gives it back.

DoC was really lame imo, a shame too because Vincent is one of my Favourite characters in FF serie.
