[QUOTE="sinseers"][QUOTE="The_Dan_K"][QUOTE="ParadiddleFill"] and thats with how many price drops and sku liquidations?

What a weak grasp at straws. Like the arcade, the elite, the core, the premiuim, and whatever chipsets they have, haven't been many variations when compred to the 4 that PS3 has had. You must have been joking.
Oh, and the price, funny too. People cried and cried last year about the PS3 price. Now that they've dropped it, people are crying because they dropped it.
Even funnier is that the PS3 actually holds value. Great hardware, great reliability, and public interest is on the rise. What about the 360?
You made very valid points. No let me ask you this......should Sony get their way and run away with this gen (Gambling and Winning Big)......wuts to stops them from launching the PS4 for...............let's just say $800? Are you gonna stand by the ( the PS# actually holds value) argument then too? What's your breaking point? I'll tell you right now, this gen started out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past the point I'm willing to shell out for a game system for, but being the gamer I am, I'm left sitting on the sidelines until the price of these systems come down to earth.
It's all about waiting through the launch period. At least, as late in the first year as possible. This way you allow the technology to catch up a little and the console cost to go down. Both the PS3 and 360 have dropped in price, some areas more than others. So, you could easily argue that anyone who bought at launch or soon after got "screwed."
That's the price you pay for getting something early. Just like paying Live fees. Once PSN gets a few of the known and soon to be released updates, Live and PSN will be very, very closely matched. Would that mean all of the money spent by 360 owners on Live was wasted from launch until then? Hell no. That money went towards getting all of the great features before any other console.
If the PS4 comes out at $800, that would be very steep. Would probably be ridiculous to think people would jump on it. Would also probably mean that the thing would be one insane machine. And it would also mean that once the price dropped, it would be a force to be reckoned with.
But do i think Sony will do that? No, I don't think so. I think this gen has been one.....huge....lesson. But they could turn around and do everything you said and lose a ton of people, counting me. We all know MS has learned a lesson this gen, make better hardware.
And I think that's the better, more important topic in the "what if" colomn. What if MS comes out early, in a rush again and drops another deuce called console hardware? There's more of a possibility of that than there is of a early, PS4 at $800.
Once again good points. To answer your question I will do exactly what I'm doing right now, sitting on my hands and my wallet until I'm satisfied that such issues are taken care of. When that happens then I dive in.
