A tip for the people who just recently bought a PS3. If you have the receipt maybe the store you bought it from has a 30 day return policy. When this Sale is confirmed, return the PS3 you bought, get your money, then rebuy a PS3 for a cheaper price and use the extra money to buy some games or blu ray movies. Hope its true.

Good tip, or if within 30 days the store might have to honour the "within 30 days" policy and refund you the difference, like Best Buy or Futureshop.

B.) MSFT will be forced to cut its 360 more than planned and sooner(arcade 199-229, premium 249, elite 299-349, Halo ed LOL)

C.) Everyone can buy both consoles for the price of the original PS3!!!

Bonus Round: Nintendo will just watch and wait, possibly doing a reduction after SSBB if Wii market share drops.

but when has a system ever been so advanced in technology. im not saying it a super system, but using both bluray and cell. these two fairly new and very expencive pieces of hardware, it would be crazy for them not to drop the price at every chance they get

Neo Geo and 3DO (to certain degree), however, to be fair, each of those were massive disappointments from the start, where as the PS3, while disappointing all things considered, has sales leaps and bounds better than each of those... combined.

If this is true three things will happen:

I bought my 60 gig for $600 and I do not feel owned at all. Working in electronics (for Dell) I know how the market fluctuates on these types of things. And that not having any games to play is a cop out and a defense for lemmings. There are plenty of great games to play. Sorry your opinion doesnt change that. Play them, and find out instead of making a statement that you personally have no reasoning of.

Didn't they deny the $399 one as well? Why would this be any different? Sony has a history of denying(like all companies) price drops. I say wait until around march when GTA4 comes out, there was a price drop rumor connected with that launch, this maybe it.

I don't know why, there's no rhyme or reason, but I have a strange compulsion, a desire deep in my psyche, to purchase a $299 ceramic white PS3. I mean a "do want zomg must buy I will beat down old ladies with their own grandchildren to cut the line" desire.

And that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, given nothing I want on the PS3 has been released yet. Odd. Extremely odd indeed. Shiny white plastic has a strange power over us all.

Hopefully they market the White PS3 better then they did with the PSP.

You dont even have to return it.. Most places have a 30 day price match guarentee. (If they dont, your credit card company might) So you'll just get the $100 refund.

Sony is still denying this. I couldn't find it either but I did find this on the same site.

I read today at a shady rumour site that the announcement is this Monday, but the price cut will happen a month later. That hardly sounds plausible.

There are rumours everywhere about this, but I'll believe it when I see it.
