$299 Ceramic White PS3 on Sale Monday (40 GB drops to $299 - 80 GB to $449)

This means the PS3 will only be 50$ more than the Wii!

i can see a dark year for the X360, AAA games for the wii (NmH an SSBB...), and now this PS3 price drop plus the MGS4 in feb. and dont forget the 3 in 10 stats about the RROD problem...

Hopefully true since this will force MS to cut the price as well. I'll get an Xbox 360 earlier than expected in other words :DToScA-

Not to mention upcoming Ninja Gaiden 2...it's a must have for me after being completely blown away by Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox.

Nothing, production costs have just gone down. This is more of a natural price drop, rather than the artificial ones Sony had to butcher the original Skus to make.

AH! I just got your point with the dates. SOrry, I may be slow but it was probably too subtle.

Basically, since this deal happened more than two weeks ago, it has no connection to the rumours of an upcoming price drop. The deal ended a long time ago.

So yes. Sounds like a manager clearing out stock and he probably got in trouble for losing money and selling the consoles at a loss.

The only people owned here are the suckers that payed $600 at launch, and now in 2008 have no game to justify their purchases, while Sony churns out downgraded SKU after SKU and the pricepoint goes into a freefall because of this catastrophe.

Agreed. You can't trust the source because it's not exactly the New York Times, and on the other hand you can't trust the denials because they've falsely denied price decreases before. The only way to be sure is to wait.

Thats a manager's special, IE not everywhere and descretion of the store in question. Not to mention that this happened at the beginning of the month.
