That game isn't very good. Even RE4 is better. First UE3 game is what made all the hype...even though the graphics still aren't that impressive in the game.

Apparently you haven't actually played the game. It's got the best graphics of any game to date.

It does have jaggies, but it is still the best looking game right now.

Not with my experience. The textures are low res, the effects are easily outdone by FEAR, the shadows are pretty cheap.

It's extremeley overrated in the graphics department.

I agree on most points. The only amazing thing Gears has are textures and character models. Technically I think FEAR is much more impressive: It has awesome particle effects/bouncing, soft shadows, textures and physics. I would rather have all those than narrow enviorments with lame effects...

Ty :). Right now I'm running on a 6600gt with a busted video card fan ( home cooling ftw!), a gig and p4( like four years old :P) but i'm getting my mom's pc with the above specs when crysis comes out

Ty :). Right now I'm running on a 6600gt with a busted video card fan ( home cooling ftw!), a gig and p4( like four years old :P) but i'm getting my mom's pc with the above specs when crysis comes out

Nice, I hope that Crysis runs as well as it is said to run.

The point is that the only thing console fanboys have as an excuse is the imaginary need of constant upgrades... And my point is that you dont ahve to upgrade is you just want to have SAME graphics as the consoles...

I don't think there was ever a problem with that. The only fps game I know for sure that's running at 60fps is COD3. (360 version)

I still cant understand where teh console fanboys got the idea that the next gen consoles are running on insanely high settings...and that it takes thousands of dollars for a PC tower to match them...

90% of their games run at locked 30fps even if the consoles can run faster most TVs cant output more than 30fps without tearing....

The antialiasing and anisotropic filtering levels are bottom low...GeoW jaggies and the pathetic distance textures of Oblivion show that...

Oh and last the resolution, I would say that its kinda sad...how low it is...

The point of this topic is to eliminate the fairy tale that one would need to constantly upgrade to keep on the SAME level as teh consoles...which is complete and utter bullocks...
Check any benchmark you want a PC that includes a X1950Pro coupled with a C2D6300 can run Oblivion at 30fps with x4AA/AF and at 720p EASILY....which comes at $700 PC tower in total...hell Ive found a £320 PREBUILT tower here in UK that has a 7600GT and a C2D6300...just a simple upgrade of the GPU to a 8600Ultra later this year will bring its cost to £420...a PS3 will cost £425...

CONSTANT UPGRADES are NOT needed if you want SAME level of graphics as the consoles...because setting WONT go up they will remain SAME for 5 years...

Pros and Cons people... Both have things about them that suck. Both have good points...I enjoy gaming on both.

Even with my CPU overclocked to 2.8 Ghz Oblivion absolutely does not run at a rock solid 30 fps with 4xAA at 720p. You are dreaming. It will run fine at these settings, but any crazy outdoor area will drop at least a few frames. The beauty of console gaming is that the games are actually optimized for the hardware, PC games simply aren't as optimized. The notion that you can purchase a computer for less than 1000 that will outperform an Xbox 360 is absolute BS. It may seem to be the case on paper, but it simply isn't so.

A $900 could easily outperform consoles, provide the same experience, and cost less over the span of a generation if all you're wanting is a standardized machine with a wealth of games that cost less.



But the thing is u aren't satisfied and want more and more to run it at a bilion frames per second and huge resolution so you upgrade and spend a lot of money to play WoW/ BF2 / and the 2 single good games u get each year that aren't RTSs.

A $900 could easily outperform consoles, provide the same experience, and cost less over the span of a generation if all you're wanting is a standardized machine with a wealth of games that cost less.



But the thing is u aren't satisfied and want more and more to run it at a bilion frames per second and huge resolution so you upgrade and spend a lot of money to play WoW/ BF2 / and the 2 single good games u get each year that aren't RTSs.



1st Medieval 2 Total War isnt an RTS its a WARGAME...that includes FPS camera/controls and realistic warfare.
2nd Last time Ive checked PC got the racing GOTY 2006.

QFT. I have a PC and I think it sucks. Then again any gaming machine sucks compared to the Wii or DS.

That game isn't very good. Even RE4 is better. First UE3 game is what made all the hype...even though the graphics still aren't that impressive in the game.

Apparently you haven't actually played the game. It's got the best graphics of any game to date.

It does have jaggies, but it is still the best looking game right now.

Not with my experience. The textures are low res, the effects are easily outdone by FEAR, the shadows are pretty cheap. It's extremeley overrated in the graphics department.

your joking right? Gears of war has the best looking and highest res textures out right now, thats what makes the game look so great... in fact, thats what makes the engine look so nice as a whole unreal engine 3.0 supports the highest res textures right now and probably will continue to until project offset engine is complete

Haha. Highest res textures? Let's compare: This is without any action going on. And are both at 720P res.
