How is saying "Quoted for Truth" rude? :| I'm sorry I'm using slang from the IGN boards. People keep yelling at me for saying QFT, WTF does QFT mean in the Gamespot boards?

That game isn't very good. Even RE4 is better. First UE3 game is what made all the hype...even though the graphics still aren't that impressive in the game.

Apparently you haven't actually played the game. It's got the best graphics of any game to date.

It does have jaggies, but it is still the best looking game right now.

Not with my experience. The textures are low res, the effects are easily outdone by FEAR, the shadows are pretty cheap. It's extremeley overrated in the graphics department.

your joking right? Gears of war has the best looking and highest res textures out right now, thats what makes the game look so great... in fact, thats what makes the engine look so nice as a whole unreal engine 3.0 supports the highest res textures right now and probably will continue to until project offset engine is complete

Haha. Highest res textures? Let's compare: This is without any action going on. And are both at 720P res.

Here's why I prefer consoles:

I walk up to my 360, insert disc, and play.
It looks great on my widescreen HDTV, no major adjustments or set-up necessary.  I can play with a group of friends on live or in a group in my den and have a great social experience as I play.

On the PC -- mine (like many other people) is set up in an office type room with a smaller monitor and an office chair, using a keyboard and mouse, limited to only one player.  It's not a social experience except perhaps for the people I play with online.  There is no integrated friends- live type service for easily meeting up online friends and playing.  I have to install games, new drivers, upgrade components, and so on to get games to run decently.  Getting into a simple online game involves many steps in terms of actually connecting to some online service like Gamespy and then finding a decent server that doesn't have some weird mods that make it so I can't join the game (Battlefield 2, anyone?).  At this point in time I basically need a whole new computer as my PC is starting to show its age.  It will cost me over $1000 to get a set-up that will run games well.

Basically, it's just easier and more of a social experience to play on consoles.

I don't think it looks better in every aspect. Such as GeoW has higher detailed environments and characters. But FEAR beats it everywhere else. And I have played GeoW, but it doesn't bother me if you don't believe me as I don't have any proof -- it's just that I did play it.

Textures this, textures that. F.E.A.R is clearly more graphical in motion. The fact that it has hundreds of advanced shaders, particles, smoke etc. all bouncing around with full physics COMBINED with extremey hi-res textures is much more impressive than GeoW in every way imaginable.

In FEAR, water reacts with every object in the game. In GeoW, shooting the water barely even makes a ripple. The shadows in FEAR are miles ahead of GeoW -- as you can see in the comparison above.

if you say so....geez...I cant believe you think FEAR looks better than Gears of WAr..If you said Crysis or UT3 I could understand...gimme a break....I still dont believe you ever played Gears of War

I love the texture on the ground, it looks so realistic.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]Gears? You mean that game with the incredibly shallow storyline, average length single-player, and unbalanced multiplayer? Funny........I traded that in for resistance.TNT_Slug
Gears isn't average lenght. You beat it in 10 hours for crying out loud. Resident Evil 4 is average lenght, and it clocks at 20+ hours.

It's ten hours if you take your sweet time, I beat it in 4 hours on medium setting.

Anyway, you must have not read my "I hate the PS3 with a passion...........but I do love suikoden" rants. I'm no where near a sony fanboy. I own every last console.

Yeah I've hooked up my PC to an HDTV before as well, but that still doesn't account for all the other arguments about a PC being more hassle than a console. MOST people -- I did say LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE-- have their PC's set up in an office desk type arrangement. It still is not as streamlined or simple as a console whether or not it's hooked up to an HDTV.

this is in reply to vandal wrong go back and try playing fear, half life 2, or oblivion on a comp with 2-5 year old parts before those games release dates and i gurantee u cant on the ones that are 4-5 years and the ones that were2-3 were nyon unplayable....as for that havnt you hermits noticed? in the gaming arena pc's are being phased out....its true...console gaming makes more money and gets more high quality games every year pc gaming is geting antiquated. p.s if you want to prove you got a 360 then post your gamercard not random pics of a room that we have no abbillity to verify its urs allso unbalanced online gameplay on gears? yet u prefer resistance... *pulls out the tagger fire and forget rifle from gears and wins 7 out of 10 resistance games* resistance has some of the most inanely imbalanced weapons ive ever seen oh and gears scored higher on every site..

Console games improve as devs get more familiar with the hardware. Could we have imagined that the 64mb of RAM Xbox could pull Black and Ninja Gaiden when it launched? Course not.

Do you want me to tell you how much I care about OTHER strangers? 0 Yep that right NOTHING, NADA....
I only post about myself and I dot give a squat what some casual thousads of miles is doing...
The fact remains that you can connect the PC to the HDTV and for me play the only game that HAS to be played on same screen: PES6...

Thats why things have changed...
Could you imagine in 2000 that a €170 GPU would perform same as PS3 at LAUNCH?(march 2007)
How about €170 for a processor (C2D 6300) that has 2 mb of cache? When in 2000 a P4 at 1.5Ghz and with 256kb of cache costed smth like $1000...
The PC hardware has gone very low in price...the same sadly cant be said about neighter the console software nor hardware....

And are both at 720P res.

you are an absolute fool if you think FEAR looks better than Gears of War and makes me think you dont own a 360

The proof is in the post pal.

buy yourself a 360 and Gears of War....FEAR not matter how high the res cannot compare

I bought one, but sold it. I've played GeoW at my friends, and by the looks of it in these screens, it fails to surpass that of even F.E.A.R

the onyl thing on PC that looks better than Gears is Crysis

You forgot the $200+ cost of Vista. Sorry, I forgot that was necessary to bring the cost of your preferred system down. Pardon me.

Some people are just blind fanboys. I have a pretty decent computer (AMD 4400+ oc'd to 2.6 Ghz, x1800 ATI card and 2 gigs of ram) and have a Xbox 360. By using my VGA cable for my PC and 360, I used the exact same monitor (22' inch Wide-Screen Samsung) to compare F.E.A.R and Gears of War. Guess what? Gears won in almost every single category. Get a good close up with a wall or floor and you can really see the power of the UT3 engine shine. Although there are quite a few bad textures these are usually few and far between. The game does seem to be overly grainy and brown though, but this can be credited to "artistic" rather then "technical" means.

[QUOTE="zidura"][QUOTE="True_Gamer_"][QUOTE="zidura"]Here's why I prefer consoles:

Ive been playing PES6 PC with my buddies on my HDTV for 4 months now...I guess that must been an illusion...

Then why bother posting if you don't care about other peoples' opinions? What's the point of posting then? You still didn't refute many of the major reasons that many people choose consoles over PC's. But yeah whatever. Enjoy your PC gaming. This isn't worth typing about any more.

How what majority or minority is doing amounts to an argument?

Does it prove anything? Just because the casual masses play 50cent and madden on the ps2 that doesnt mean thats good or superior to anyhting...

Being dumbed down for the casual masses doesnt prove anything and I thank god that PC gaming is as "streamlined and simple"....

You are bragging about high resolution with that monitor you have LOLOLOL. I bet you have been playing the 360 on that TV too.

Rexor: Thats a high quality LCD monitor that has a native resolution of 1280X1024 and can go really high. -_- Learn your stuff. Not to mention my 360 is right next to my monitor, implying that I have it hooked up to it. LCDs provide a much better blacklight than your regular HDTV monitor. So I AM getting a much better picture.

CRTs blow any LCD out of the water. Better color accuracy, no ghosting, higher resolutions than most LCD, ect. BTW I have a widescreen LCD PC monitor that I can hook my 360 to. What is that a 17" Optiquest. Not really high end and neither is your speaker setup.

It pumps out resolutions higher than or equivalent to 1080i at a crisper resolution with a better backlight. Oh not to mention my speaker setup is a Gigaworks by creative. Thats about a $600 speaker system. (Not to mention I wasn't one of the ones to taught my resolution. Way to infer stuff)

I think one of the main reasons I stick with consoles is simply the games. PC's lack the Marios, Zeldas, Resident Evils etc. that make consoles so awesome. Consoles may not be as powerful as a PC twice its price, but they have a hell of a lot of classic games. PCs have their fair share of awesome games, but for me I find more appealing games on the console.

90% of the battering I see on consoles from PC owners is about power, they're missing the point.

It does have similar games, but not as good in my opinion. There are a lot of great franchises on consoles (Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Gears of War etc.) and I suppose that's what makes interested in console gaming more so than PC.

Well PC has similar games...but I don't really think that means much. Having said all this I still greatly admire PC gaming, but I find it ignorant and stupid when PC gamers go on about how a console is not as powerful, and ignore the actual games themselves. Power can add a lot to games, but only when used correctly. I'd take Diablo 2 over Guild Wars anyday.

Basic Hermit rant.

There I fixed it for you..

First off PC gameing is great. But very few people in here can say they have never bought a game that just wont work on their PC when it meets systems specs.

Some games are just so damn bugged you cant really play them on any PC untill some kind of patch comes out. You can say the same for consoles but I have rarely seen this.

PC gameing is awesome but sometimes its such a pain in the butt.

AND yes PC gameing does start to cost alot if you want the full deal. And it cofuses the hell out of so many people as to what kind of parts you really need.

And thats why consoles sell so well.

I`m pc gamer my self and dont act that 720p 4xaa isnt enough ;) its no high end what so ever but its pretty high ;) so making thread about how you play one or another game at 2650p , 32x aa,120af and how it makes other games look ridicilously ugly ... man sorry for this but pc has lots more to it than what are you trying to defend. i repeat xbox360 has pretty good standards and thats not low level settings ;) [ the only thing i think xbox360 games lack are af filtering, but i see some games supporting that feature however not much ] ;)

Isn't it funny how alot fanboys still discredit this game. Even when every publication, every site, and every other non gaming publication. Stated these are the best graphics that anybody has seen. So considering that the odds 27:1 are against you. And I bet you haven't even played, I can guarantee that.

Yeah you're right it's not the high end, more like mid range, same as the PS3. But people will still argue about it.
