360- why Live is worth the money

I am getting a 360 ever so soon! One thing that surprised me was that, even tho the 360 is the only system that charges for online play, alot of people subscribe! I am assuming it must be really good, then,.....since it costs $50 per year!

Why pay extra for something that's free from every other source like PC and PSN games. And with HOME comeing to the PS3 very soon it could be better than LIVE in the end with more features.jimm895

yeah i want to make sure that $50n is not going to a useless cause. it is pretty unfortunate that the 360, which has alot of great games for online play, charges money!

I hate paying for it....It really turns me off the system but I am paying for it right now

I can't help but think every time I pay my $50 this could be a game I could be buying with the same amount.

The TC asked why Xbox Live is worth $50 a year. My point was that I don't think it's worth the money unless you're a teenage kid without much of a life. Lemmings are always boasting about how Xbox Live has so many more features than PSN... like being to chat with your friends at all times... seeing what games your friends are playing... seeing all of their achievements, etc... In my opinion, that stuff is somewhat juvenile. Why on earth would I care what games my friends are playing? Not that it's bad, just childish and not worth $50 a year to an adult who just wants to play games online every now and then. Online gaming has all but ruined the industry, in my opinion.

Either way, if the TC values the aforemtioned features of Xbox Live, then I'm sure he'll find it worth the money.

I do it to play with my friends online. Also to take comfort in knowing that I can pop in PGR3 four years down the road and me and a friend can play it online. Too bad that can't happen with MGS:3 Substance mastarifla

Really the only things your getting for your 50 bucks that you cant find on PSN is Video Marketplace and Gamer Pics. Thats about it. Not worth 50 a year IMO. black_awpN1

Like 98% of the games actually work online. How many of the PS3 games actually have online features. Does R&C, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted and Virtual Fighter 5 have online options. With Tekken 5 you had to pay for a patch just to play online.

ugh!!.....unless you are rich or don't care where ur money goes, it does not matter whether or not u want to play multiplayer if ur paying $50 for it! I know if the multiplayer is no better than PS3's and I have to pay on it ontop of that, i would be an idiot to dish out that money! Might as well use the money to get a game! The question of LIVE hasn't been "is it well implemented?" The question is "does it offer something that the PC, which has even more features and customization available *for free*, and most games having dedicated servers, doesn't? How do we justify Microsoft charging money for a P2P service?"

Considering the revenue they're making on LIVE transactions, plus that *even after you subscribe* they bombard you with advertisements via LIVE (though you now can turn off some of them), it seems like there's no excuse for their $50 charge.

By the way, the fact that you can talk to your friends while playing a particular game is stupid. The whole time I have been on XBL, I have never done it. Why would you? You are playing a game and concentrating. PSN supports voice chat and plays games--that's all you need for online expereince. Seriously, if I want to talk to my friends, I just call them up. All the extra "great" stuff that all these Lemmings are pointing are all just show, bells and whistles.

Download demos and it doesnt take 65 hours like psn does

Better multiplayer opinions such as private chat game invites etc..

the real purpose of paying for online , is to allow MS to keep the games server up and running .

in 4 years you will be able to still play crackdown/Halo3/Forza 2 and wtv game come to mind , unlike on the PS3 where in 1-2 years , you won't even be able to play MGS4/killzone 2 online anymore !

I was fine with it untill all these AD's came up after the update...Microsoft is just too greedy. I wont renew my subscription when my current one runs out unless they get servers.

It's not worth the money. You pay because you have to in order to enjoy online gaming. Why is it worth the money? Well, you better make up something otherwise you'll feel pretty awful in paying for something all other platforms enjoy for free.
