i would want to play GT5 in 3D (im guessing we may be able to, since it's the first game to be shown in 3D in Sony events)

besides, all games can be patched to work on 3D. you dont need to re-do the whole game. Stig Asmussen (GOW3 director) said this in an interview.

Maybe because alotof people don't know how to fix the "NAT TYPE 3" thingy and therefore have problems with their mic and online games...although my connection stays at NAT type 3 but i have no problems whatsoever.

This has to be the biggest waste of time and money for sony. Very few people will utilize this feature.

I'm game. I'm not going out of my way to do it, but the next TV I buy will be 3D capable for sure. I've tried some demos of the tech, and it's quite cool.

If anything is a gimmick this year, its not motion but 3D. I think ill wait until we have TVs able to produce 3D without the glasses at a mass market level.

Doesn't Sony's stereoscopic 3D method require a Bravia television to offload the work needed to split the image for 3D?

I don't know why so many people care considering the costs involved.

prolly not. although it's a recession, this may be the next big thing. remember Bluray vs HD-DVD? now, where are those people who bought an overpriced HD-DVD add-on for their 360? they can't use it anymore, to think that they've made an investment on it. it's inevitable. this wlll be the future of gaming. and yes, it adds to the experience. anyone who denies this hasnt played something in 3D. if you watched Avatar in 3D and non-3D there's a big difference. same thing here.

at least HDTVs will come down in price.

for those of us who haven't even made the HDTV step....not even worth it.

wonder how bad these companies will rip us off for 3d glasses, like they do with Ethernet, HDMI and any type of cabling.

yep, but as i've said, 3D gaming is an OPTION. meaning, if you want the full experience, you pay for it. at least Sony doesn't force you to it. yes, those Bravia TV's will have Cell in them (check this year's CES). teh Cell would prolly be responsible for those 3D tasks and other stuff.

this has always been the way tech moves. introduce a new thing, and wait for it to be publicly accepted and tested, and go down in price, then buy the thing.

Whose talking about consoles? Believe it or not; LCD shutter glasses for games/films was available to PC & Console gamers before Sony decided to hype it this generation. I had a pair of the eDimensional brand of 3D glasses back then and played games like Morrowind using them.

I know from first hand experience it gets old, you take them off because you just want to play the game. People expecting it to be as perfect as the Avatar film are also in for a surprise, the unpredictable nature of the 3D environment leads to issues when using stereoscopic 3D such as ghosting.

Well, its a nice option for the people that want to take advantage of it, just like those who wish to take advantage of the nVidia cards that can output 3D. Also, the chances are that if you dont want to output in 3D, then you wont have to, so your friend coming over to watch a film isnt really a problem. This is clearly going to be a niche product for single player gamers for quite a while before public adoption, and that will only happen with newly developed glasses-less 3D television sets.

I won't be using this for a few more years yet, I'm just not in the market for a new TV at all. Perfectly happy with my 32 inch Samsung. Unless I get a nice fat raise soon, that is. Then I might go wild next year. But this year? I have way too many games I want to buy to be able to find the expendable income needed for this kind of upgrade.

Not to mention the dual LCD displays companies have been trying in glasses and helmets (personally, I like this idea more, it just needs higher resolution).

lol did i say Sony is first to do 3D? i know it's been around, BUT, since there was no mainstream support for games and such, we had to rely on third-party or other sources to play/watch in 3D. not only that, but the tech wasnt even utilized well last gen. besides, graphics last-gen didnt warrant 3D at all. seriously. even if it's Morrowmind. you mght appreciate it more if it had better effects and such. although Morrowmind's graphics (especially the vistas) were good, it won't look entertaining in 3D.

anyone who denies this hasnt played something in 3D.

Been there, done that. Was playing in 3D last console generation; and I'm saying it right now it's not the future.

last gen? lawl. we're talking about the PS3 here, not a last-gen console. besides, who would game on 3D on a last-gen console when it doesn't even output in HD? that's totally absurd. who would even do that? hahahahahaha.

there you go. considering PC doesn't even have a 'gen';) and is well ahead and was capable of HD before consoles were.

whatever, I shouldn't be judging your attitude and basing assumptions, but that's what you're acting like and how I'll perceive it.

give $ony your $2200 and have fun.

i would want to play GT5 in 3D (im guessing we may be able to, since it's the first game to be shown in 3D in Sony events)

besides, all games can be patched to work on 3D. you dont need to re-do the whole game. Stig Asmussen (GOW3 director) said this in an interview.

I googled it and turned up nothing but "What is Fake NP SNS Throttle" results. That sounds a bit suspect to me.
