And now that battery life is no longer on their side Nintendo fanboys will find some other excuse as to why their handheld of choice(?) is superior.vashkeyso you happen to know the battery life of the NGP?
Am I the only one who doesn't think this is that bad? Maybe its because 80% of the time I play my DSi its plugged in. Though, since 3DS has a cradle I guess I might not be able to do that with this... but come on are you really going to play a handheld for up to 5 hours in one sitting?Zero5000X3DS can be charged via cable like the previous DS. *rejoice*
[QUOTE="campzor"]its unbelievable that people believe sony would release a handheld that has less then 2 hours of battery lifeWilly105If Nintendo made a 3 hour battery, people are going to expect the worst from Sony, because they are the ones that gave Nintendo that low standard (the PSP is popular in Japan). Of course its Sony's fault. Silly us.

Price. And we don't know anything conclusive about the battery life of the PSP2. If some of the leaked info. regarding the PSP2's specs. are correct, then there is no way in hell that is going to cost anything below 350$.
Sony never learns. They don't need a moster power house of a handheld. The DS destroyed the PSP in terms of popularity and sales, despite the fact that the PSP had 16MB of RAM, and the DS had only 4MB of RAM.
Ya it's a bit disappointing. Thought brightness level would gain you more battery than that.
But I was never planning on buying the first version of the 3DS, so hopefully the 3DS Lite will indeed improve that and not just look prettier.
I guess that isn't horrible, considering it uses two screens, one of which displays 3D images. Turning the 3D off will nearly double battery life. I'm just going to wait for the next iteration that will likely have an upgraded battery. And honestly, are you REALLY going to sit for 3+hrs straight and play the 3DS? :|
Its funny when people say "turn the 3D off" like it isnt one of the reasons the 3DS was created. What about the people want to enjoy there games in 3D???[QUOTE="hayato_"][QUOTE="LaytonsCat"]
turn the 3D off and you get eight hours though
Wii4Fun
I guess those people will have to be near a power source when playing huh? Who plays games for 5 hours straight anyways.
People will be fine whatever battery life 3DS and PSP2 has as long they don't go under 2 hours.
Yeah your right, but really. I'd want to play Kid Icarus and MGS 3 in full 3D :o (I'm going blind anyway:P )Mine used to last very long... but now it lasts like 4 hours max. The battery is slowly dying it seems. Which makes me wonder what psp2 owners will do if it's really sealed..Is 3D really this important? My DS Lite lasts at least 15 hours on a single charge...

[QUOTE="KungfuKitten"]Which makes me wonder what psp2 owners will do if it's really sealed..foxhound_foxWait... what? They sealed the battery off?Let me guess... as a means of avoiding piracy? Guess I'm not getting a PSP2 (why should I have to plug in my handheld and not be able to swap out batteries?). I don't care about the DSL not having a swappable battery because its life lasts longer than I use it in a day. But this is kind of silly. All you need to change a DS battery is a screwdriver...

No, it's an aesthetic gimmick that adds nothing to gameplay. Is 3D really this important?

I don't see how this is a problem when sheep go on about how handheld games aren't supposed to be like console games and are only supposed to be played in "short bursts."

If it's like the PS3 controller, you can probably send it in to Sony for what will hopefully be a free replacement.
If I remember correctly, the battery is somehow related to running CFW on the PSP so its probably a security measure.

Without 3d and wifi enable, 6 hours is pretty good. who would really play games more than 4 hours straight?

Also I have to be honest, even though the battery life is longer if you turn the 3D off, doesn't that defeat the purpose since "3D" is the big selling point?
It's not about playing it straight. It's about how long you'll be away without an outlet at hand and you intend to play a lot.Without 3d and wifi enable, 6 hours is pretty good. who would really play games more than 4 hours straight?

To be fair, 3DS, even without 3D is still a considerably more powerful system than the DS. However, I also agree, it's main selling point will be the 3D and taking that away takes a lot of the luster away, especially compared to the latest gen of iPods and PSP2.
that article is wrong, nintendos site and every one else is saying 3-5 on highest setting maybe thats a mis print,
5 to 8 for ds games this is basically on par with the original ds
and those expecting psp2 to match these numbers , nope,
not with powerful graphics 3g network , ya those eat batteries -look at cell phones these days, and those arent used for games , especally the sidekicks,
add 5 inch oled screen that needs to be powered, vs a what is this a 4.somthing inch screen
as far as raw power is concerned you dont want to much power,
i dont think sony learned their lesson oh well looks like its back to 140 million 3ds users vs 70 million psp2 users im calling it right now
-those 70 million would also have a 3ds by the way me included
and yes there porbably will be a lite that dont mean you should wait for it , maybe update yours later but this thing will take 3d photos , what camera even does that, also its a video cam, nice addition to an already dsi feature
-plus free sd card when you buy this thing , which is easily 20 bucks bought seperetly
-probably one of the reasons 3ds is 250 plus a dock bay for charging only takes 3 hours easily better then the ds phat which took 4-5 hours
i caNT COMPlain , about neither system ,
one upside the 3ds has over psp 2 = price and most likely the battery life, and its backwards compatibility and vc service along with the already dsi ware service,
thats what people forget when saying oh psp2 beats 3ds on every way , i doubt that , cause, i seriously doubt psp 2 will even come close to what matters in this side of the game industry,
thats fun games new games , not ports of console games, as seen with psp already i expect the same for this 350 to 400 dollar psp2 ,

Why the hell would I buy a 3DS a "3D handheld" and turn off the 3D? Better yet why would I turn off wifi? 3 hours battery life is absolute crap and the 3DS doesnt even have much processing power. NGP will have better battery life.

The PSP is 4-5 hours, but I would consider the potential 8 hour battery life a decent argument. The 3DS is clearly capable of a higher battery life without 3D enabled (perhaps even longer than the original). And given the information we've been getting, maybe it wouldn't be so good for your eyes to have 3D enabled for 3 full hours in the first place.
The 3D tech is power hungry. I really dont get Nintendo. It seems like their just reaching with the 3DS. What happened to the innovative Nintendo???!!!

not troubled at all. My dsi (i play on setting 4-5) and i get 4-6/7 hours. Roughly the same. I dont expect too much. It has two screens, and it needs to power both, so im not too surprised that battery life wont be very long. It also looks pretty good graphics wise.
Most likely, i'll charge before i ever really need 3 hours of straight play. If not, it's probably time for me to take a break anyway.
good luck waiting remember 1012 is not far away who knows what would happen so mite aswell enjoy the 3DS while u can lol jk..:PProbably hold back until they have a slimer version along with longer battery life.

It's the same as playing a 360 or PS3 on an SDTV. Sure, you won't have the HD, but it doesn't turn them into a useless brick. Also, the response was referring on how Sony always had less battery life than Nintendo, and that the PSP is the second most popular game system in Japan with that low battery.
