Looks like they've taken a leaf out of the lems' handbook and tried to pass NPD sales off as the world. They may be winning in America but PS3 will overtake the 360 real soon.BigBoss255...and this generation is more then half over, with MS more then doubling their market share. What is your point? From a performance standpoint generation over generation, MS and Nintendo smacked Sony in the mouth. (or you could say Sony tripped themselves onto concrete)

[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] I'm not denying the 360 doesn't break for some people you're denying it does break for some though. And giving the whole RROD thing and how widely known it became I think it is safe to see which is the most unrealistic view of the whole situation.kuraimen
it's more a commentary on your methods than what i actually think. the 360 is covered by a warranty and replacement consoles don't get factored into the reported shipped numbers.
Yeah I'm aware of that but I'm also aware on how many people don't use the warranty. For example, in my country, people usually buy consoles in the US and bring it here because it is cheaper. So that sells factor in the US numbers. Yet almost no one will use any warranty, since when you bring the console overseas is a pain in the ass to change it. Therefore people would rather just buy another. Even if you buy the console here, we don't have the 3 year warranty like you there unless we send it to MS in the US and most people won't do that. If that happens in several countries then the warranty is mostly a factor in main areas but not in others. The same I have known people that, instead of changing the console for a refurbished one, they would just rather buy another since it would likely break again. So that all leads me to believe that many consoles don't just get replaced by the warranty.how many people are you saying import the thing or spend money when they don't have to? :?

[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
[QUOTE="kuraimen"] Based on RROD and my personal calculating skillzzzzz :P04dcarraher
what makes you think broken consoles factor into the reported numbers?
Well lets see out of all my friends and family that own a 360 all of them have been through two replacements and or rebought and on their 3rd. A few are on their 4th and one is on his 5th. Plus going through a UPS store in my area a clerk was telling me that they get 30-40 360's a week being shipped to MS to be repaired. So having nearly 50% failure rate isnt out of the question.
and all of my ps3 friends bought it for bluray movies and nothing else.
it's just as factual :lol:

If thats true why isn't the PS3 crushing the 360 in software sales, and how is the 360 ahead in attach rates? :? That doesn't make sense[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] Yeah that's why I only said 20 million, the other 35 million are probably legit buys but there's a big rebuy factor regarding the 360.kuraimen
I also think the PS3 audience likes more diversity while the 360 audience is more focused on some style of games like shooters
and yet the best selling game on the ps3 is...wait for it...BLACK OPS! :lol:that's okay though, haing a shooter console is nothing to be ashamed of :)
[QUOTE="Ravensmash"][QUOTE="kuraimen"]Is there actually any fact in there or are you just speculating? Part speculation, part fact. There has been statistics released that the 360 audience is indeed younger so that could be a factor. Older people tend to play less since the have more responsibilities so the attach rate will definitely be lower. It also makes sense since the PS brand is older so older generations would rather stick to that. Younger generations have mostly no attachment and they are creating theirs so they can swing more to the Xbox side. It is also a fact that many people bought the PS3 as mainly a Bluray player. Hell Sony even advertised it as such.Well the PS3 is generally used for more than just console gaming, many people buy it as a Bluray player, while the 360 is usually seen as basically a console and that's it. I also think the PS3 audience likes more diversity while the 360 audience is more focused on some style of games like shooters so they sell more on some specific games and styles but at others they blow and the PS3 sells more in these kind of games. Also the 360 audience is younger and they have more time to play.

That's America only.
In 06/07 PS3 sold 3.5 million though it launched it Q4. 360 sold 6.6 million in double the time.
In 07/08 PS3 sold 9.1 million, 360 sold 8.7.
In 08/09 PS3 sold 10.1, 360 sold 11.1
In 09/10 PS3 sold 13 million, 360 sold 10.3.
In 2010/11 PS3 sold 14.3, 360 sold 11.8 + April - June.

Yeah I'm not counting replacement systems in my calculation. I'm counting systems that don't get replaced but are bought again. I think many many people didn't get to replace their 360s they just bought new ones, at least much more than the PS3 or the Wii.I'm questioning why MS need to act like the 360 is crushing the PS3 when worldwide the PS3 is outselling it.BigBoss255

why would5 million people re-buy their consoles?
Because the launch console was a PoS and Microsoft should've replaced them. We have a launch console and got a slim, and it still freezes.
And the number was 53 million just last week. 360 took 6 years to get to 53. PS3 took 5 years to get to 50. Seems like 360 is behind imo.

That's only because that the PS2 was the best selling console with 150+ million sold as to why PS3 sold more faster than 360 & that the original Xbox had only 24 million sold. This gen, the PS3 isn't exactly hugely successful compared to both PS1 & PS2, so I doubt that they'll easily catch up to Project Cafe & the next Xbox system with the PS4.
With MS, though, you got to hand it to them. They've done much more better than Xbox last gen in more console sales, especially when it comes to gathering marketshare, etc.

Yeah I wish cows would just stop bringing this up. Why would 15 million rebuy the console if it has a warranty? It is speculation to the extreme. I don't know anybody who has rebought a 360 due to the RROD, but I do know two of my friends rebought PS3s because of the YLOD. Does that mean we should subtract 10 million sales from the PS3 due to the YLOD?

Everything else (ex: leading in hardware sales, software attachment, etc..) is a tasty icing on the cake for them.
Well yeah maybe so, but I doubt the PS3 is almost over seeing how Sony has kept the PS2 on the market for so long I expect them to do the same for the PS3. MS on the other hand is fast to jump ship. I'm pretty sure the PS3 will surpass the 360 eventually.[QUOTE="KarateeeChop"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] Part speculation, part fact. Hell Sony even advertised it as such. kuraimen
this is about the funniest thing i've read all day
Glad you find facts amusing ;)oh man, keep going! :lol:
[QUOTE="BigBoss255"]Looks like they've taken a leaf out of the lems' handbook and tried to pass NPD sales off as the world. They may be winning in America but PS3 will overtake the 360 real soon.bigboss5akSo pretty much just wait?? we've been waiting 6 years for the ps3 to pass the 360 how many more years does it need?? Anyways great numbers for MS Funny stuff :)
[QUOTE="garland51"]
[QUOTE="sillaris"]
and like 15 million from that 55million were people re buying because of RROD
Casboof
Where's proof of that?
Yeah I wish cows would just stop bringing this up. Why would 15 million rebuy the console if it has a warranty? It is speculation to the extreme. I don't know anybody who has rebought a 360 due to the RROD, but I do know two of my friends rebought PS3s because of the YLOD. Does that mean we should subtract 10 million sales from the PS3 due to the YLOD?
they need to make up the rrod argument to make themselves feel better about the ps3 being in last place for 5 years. don't take it away from them; it's all they've got :(
Well lems believed also last year that the 360 was destroying the PS3 in sales and then they were proven wrong at the end of the year when the ps3, once again, had surpassed the 360 worldwide. So lems are just making the same mistake they make everytime and are gonna get owned by the end of the year like usual.[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="T-razor1"]
But there is reason to believe it considering that in the latest figures the 360 widened the gap.
garland51
Except that you'll be proven wrong this time. The PS3 is running out of steam, while the 360's steam is still going.
MS and Sony report on different quarters is not like the PS3 has stop selling since sony close its fiscal year.[QUOTE="Riverwolf007"]
quick somebody call walter reed army hospital and see if there is a post traumatic stress disorder program for sw ps3 guys.
bigboss5ak
lol too funny
it's just that they are sooooooo bitter and spouting off a bunch of nonsense all the time.the 360 is successful cuz they all broke and had to be rebought
the 360 is successful cuz people are stupid
cuz them racist muricans support products made in the usa
cuz nobody has good taste in games

ask your doctor about Brozac.
[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] Yeah I'm not counting replacement systems in my calculation. I'm counting systems that don't get replaced but are bought again. I think many many people didn't get to replace their 360s they just bought new ones, at least much more than the PS3 or the Wii.kuraimen
why would5 million people re-buy their consoles?
Why not? I know people who have. Many people even in this forum has also.that's not an answer.
