720/PS4 will kill PC gaming FOR GOOD!!!

PC gaming will be there forever but the boarder between PC gaming and console gaming will be less clear with the next generation, PC dev. isn't progressing like it should, consoles although they extremely limited on spec. , they are evoliving, i can't imagine how good the next generation will look when the amount of RAM changes from 512 to 1-2 gigs for example, or with better GPUs implantation, the graphical edge for the PC will be less clear for sure.

I find this funny... eventually consoles will become computers with limitations themselves. PS4 and 720 will do what they did before. attempt to catch up with current technology then have their gamers spend as much on it as they would a PC then have you play on that technology for years to come while PCs continue advancing.

My bets are that Microsoft will give the option to swap out 'Microsoft-Branded GPUs' so gamers could play the same games, just on higher graphical settings. I guarantee they would sell too because many won't pass that up to have their console looking as nice as possible in-game. Thus giving console gamers the exact same elite-minded baggery that PC gamers have been stereotyped for.

b..b...but console only users aren't missing anything, PC exclusives aren't as many as half of the PS3 exclusives for example, they even aren't as varied as any console exclusive list.
here are some notes:
1- PC games hardly contains any good action adventure hack and slas games like NG, GOW, bayonetta, darksiders ...etc, i can say that PC only gamers are almost missing a genre. here.
2- PC exclusives are mostly either shooters or RTS.
3-even the PC is losing some of its high profile exclusives i.e Crysis 2, sims 3 and who know what would be next.
console only users are very sercure, i am not bashing the PC ( i have a gaming PC) but PC gamers should realize the truth about their beloved PC.2mrw

Why the hell do people want new consoles lately? Thanks but, Id rather not spend another $500-$1000 on something with no games and a most likely miniscule leap in graphical fidelity.

I am saying without Sony's direct financial support to acquire\produce exclusives for the PS3; your line-up would be a joke. There would be no Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Killzone, God of War or any of these other games people use to argue the value of PS3.

Nope, completely independent. Which makes it all the more significant that this platform that has not received a penny of financial support is out doing ones receiving billions.

Back in October Sony had a reported loss of $4.7 billion (yes, billion with a B) on the PS3. How many years has it been out; and it has yet to make a profit? If it wasn't for Sony keeping it alive; the PS3 would have been discontinued by now.

You think this is impressive? Yet a platform standing on its own two feet with no financial aid is not?

first of all quality doesn't distinguish between 1st/3rd party support, you are talking sales, profits while i was talking quality and genre from the start, PC gamers shouldn't really be talking about profits and sales, we all know PC software sales are the worst between all the three, ther are games that sell but overall the piracy is eating up everything, games are getting cancelled e.g AW, some games are going platform e.g. Crysis 2 .....etc.

yes, not only does the pc have twice the amount of AAAE's as the ps3, it also has seven and a half times the amount ofAAE games as the ps3. PC is a big loser...

Honestly there you go again, making assumptions at face value with no concern for confirmation. How insecure you must be if you have to justify the value of your purchase decision by spreading fud on another platform. Let's ask a inconvenient question shall we?

If consoles money is so much better; why do more developers choose to remain PC exclusive as opposed to console exclusive? If consoles are where the money is at; shouldn't developers be flocking there as opposed to PC? Despite your reluctance to recognise Sony writing checks is not a indication of a platforms value, those big budget titles on PS3 are not developers making decisions on where they want to go, they were paid to remain exclusive.

Yeah... PS3 sales are so much better that developers have to be paid to remain exclusive. Piracy is so bad PC has a far greater exclusive to cross platform ratio than consoles.

the PC gaming will never die, but the role of the PC asthe supergaming machine will get smaller with the next generation, think about it, the next gen. specs will be high, not as high as a modern gaming PC, but with optimization, the huge graphical edge of PC games will get smaller for sure, aside from the higher resolution, better textures, better AA and some other things, the PC doesn't have so much to give over consoles coz dev. don't bother to use it fully, even halfway.

The irony of all this....

- PC gamers require gaming hardware for PC games.
- Intel, AMD, ATI, Nvidia, etc. create such hardware for PC gamers.
- Said corporations invest profit from hardware sales to continue evolving.
- Evolution of hardware is what makes next-gen consoles possible.

- Most PC games allow mods.
- Modding introduces persons into game development process.
- Some modders become developers for a studio or a mod-team may become a studio.
- Studio will then continue making games possibly ending up on consoles aswell on PC.
- Repeat.
